Just like the Ambassador with the previous FE.............ohhhh wait
The Ambassador made the move to Fleet, so basically a $20 per-char c-store ship. Also the Ambassador is a old ship so no 3-set. 3-sets are the norm for new stuff.
Think they'll take the step to sell non-Faction ships in the C-Store instead of making them available by Event/Lobi/Lockbox?
From a making money stand point why not. We are getting close to running out of the big cannon ships, so alien stuff made by Cryptic will at some point make the c-store. However you may be right, maybe it will be the next super lockbox ship. "Ancient Lockbox"
Maybe I am wrong and it will be a free T6 roll-stomping ship that is a must have if you roam the new areas.
Wow... I didn't know I was playing Battlestar Galactica Online.
Quite simply, carriers are NOT Trek Canon. What's the addiction to adding them to this game?
I think we buried that discussion long ago. In STO game-lore, carriers and jetfighters are the pinnacle of engineering and tactics and basically TEH FUTUR!. Deal with it

Simple question: if CBS doesn't care why should you?
They get to dictate canon, not us.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Ancient Iconian Sta...errr I mean gateways that allow one to travel across the Galaxy at an instant,Building of Space Carriers, and now an Ancient space ship.....hmmmmmmm I shall call mine Destiny
Yeah, because that's what happened with the Temporal Ambassador reward cruisers, right?
And to anyone wondering if "full carrier" means 2 hangar bays, that is precisely what that means. Any of the ships in game that only have 1 hangar bay aren't technically carriers, they're "flight deck cruisers". Their small craft aren't the main source of their firepower, unlike actual carriers.
Because that level 40 "free" Klingon "Flight Deck Cruiser" is a MAJOR source of firepower and not as slow as a TRIBBLE in molasses at all!
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.
The only free Flight Deck Carrier is the Retrofit Corsair which costs 200,000 fleet credits but no actual money and its a tier 5 ship not tier 4.
And yeah the Flight Deck Cruisers can use a little buff, they're being left behind by the Scimatar Dreadnaught, which has as many weapon slots and hangar as the FDCs, but have cloak, dual cannons, and frigate type ships which the FDCs don't have.
If this new ship is a full carrier it is likely to have both a fighter option and a frigate option, I look forward to more details.

You mean the KDF's actual Full Carrier with 2 Hangar Bays?
Because, as I said in the post you actually quoted me on, a full carrier's major source of firepower is its fighter compliment.
Whereas, a Flight Deck Cruiser's hangar bay is more to provide craft to support the main ship, and the ship itself is more than capable of providing its own firepower.
As I said:
A Carrier is a ship with two (2) Hangar Bays, whose fighter craft are meant to provide the majority of the ship's offensive powers, with the ship's own mediocre weapons and BOff abilities meant to support its small craft and to lay down control effects on the battlefield.
A Flight Deck Cruiser is a ship with one (1) Hangar Bay, whose fighter craft are there more for supporting the main craft, which potentially already has ample offensive capabilities; the fighters are there as "extras".
At no point did I insinuate that full Carriers are front line combat vessels and armed as such. In fact, quite the opposite: I said specifically that a Flight Deck Cruiser's main source of firepower IS NOT its fighters, while an actual full Carrier's fighter craft ARE.
As a Fleet Corsair Flight Deck Cruiser Captain how much fire power do you think the ship has? It only has a lt. Bridge officer slot, 2 tac consoles, and it can't equipt dhcs and it only has moderate turn rate.
It does have 8 weapon slots, but as I said it can't equipt dhcs while the Vo'que can so its a draw at best.
Honestly my Elite Slavers are very important to the ships firepower I can assure you.
I think your thinking of Escort Carriers which don't have much in the way of good choices when it comes to hangars and are primarily escorts in nature.
Well It is all but certain if the "reward" is the Full Carrier ship which Dstahl mentions and you have to captain it just like you did the Ambassador class Enterprise in the last FE - then it would be fantastic if there were some players who could put out a guide to using carriers effectively.
I am sure that they may give a few tutorial hints in the FE - but that would probably be next to useless compare to some player guides.
So knowing this - are there any carrier experts out there that feel up to the task of detailing effective guides? Or are there already some out there?

The problem with using a guide is that, like the other missions where you fly a ship other than your own, you're either forced to use the equipment they give you, and possibly the officers they give you. If you were to read a guide on how to effectively use a cruiser before playing Temporal Ambassador or the old second anniversary mission, all it would have done is inform you just how wrong you're doing it.
Carrier aren't one size fits all and can play very different from one another depending on boff layout, stats, and most of all what type of hangar choices.
I know of no hangar guide.
We know none of the stats of this ship, no idea what the boff layout is, no idea about its console layout, no idea if it comes with a special universal console, no idea if it has its own bridge, no idea what kind of special pets it can get.
Until we get that info any attempt at a guide could do more harm then good.
Heck I think they're still working on the carrier commands so even that is up in air.
Once we have the intel I'm sure people will be able to help you.

This game has turn from Star Trek to stargate and has the Elements off even mass effect Influence with all these carriers and so on. I wonder what the next elements is going to be.:P

Given some of the comments that have come out of Taco recently, I think it's more than safe to say that the "traditional" FEs are effectively dead. All we're going to get are the one-shot wonders.
Fes were always single missions.
The old runs were called FE series. As-in, a series of FEs. Now, they're doing single FEs instead of series. It's the series that seem to be in hibernation.
And I'll be frank when I say that I don't think budget killed them, at least not directly.
What killed them was that people didn't replay them except on alts. One of the big problems is this:
You have fans that skew towards narrative and fans that skew towards gaming. Gaming fans seem to me like they'd prefer STFs and Fleet Actions and Adventure Zones. Narrative fans prefer the FEs... but they don't replay them endlessly.
Now, that's not all the players' fault but I'd venture it's not cost effective to create content that people play once at that level for free and PWE (and quite a few fans here) wouldn't stand for Cryptic charging directly for mission access. There are situations where it might be worth it like a new faction but new factions result in new ship and costume purchases and some new players.
So here's the deal: players either need to buck up and replay more or Cryptic needs to find a way to indirectly make money off of content that people don't replay. And if not money then at the very least keep people (happily) in game longer (which heightens the appeal of buying things).
Right now, I'd venture to say that FE series aren't dead but they're terminal and in suspended animation until Cryptic can find a cure for their illness. And they won't come out of suspended animation as you remember them.
I see several ways to go.
One of which is to introduce sector block or story series reputations that require mission replay in a given sector block. (In fact, I could see that replacing limited time rewards by instead making them a rep reward from grinding a series of 5-10+ missions.) I also think that means some retooling of missions and side objectives of collectibles added throughout.
The other is to make replay more fun. And by that token, rather than introducing 5 FEs in a series, I'd rather see over 5 FEs worth of choices, branches, and directions in a single mission that has wild levels of diversity in that single 20-40 minute mission, making it something you don't feel done with after a single play... arguably something that you cannot fully experience without multiple replays through a combination of choice and chance but where all of the pathways have narrative hooks and a variety of well developed environments. By this point, we're talking about something less like FEs though and more like story intensive adventure zones. Like...
Effectively a "Secret World" Zone every once in awhile or maybe something in the vein of the upcoming game "Watch Dog" where you roam a city hacking technology and discovering people's storylines, engaging in or fighting crime.
Subspace technology, it almost has to be an Elachi starship.
Either that or Iconian, or some other of their servants. The Elachi were after all, created by the Iconians so it stands to reason their tech is based of Iconian tech.
I think it will be ship build by those aliens who lived on new romulus. They were studying iconian technology, they are gone and for now there are only runins in big caves. SO there might be more.
