Boot Camp Coaches - please :(

Hi PvP Community,

When Boot Camp started many of the PvP Community eagerly jumped on to assist us with coaching.

Please come and help Boot Camp again. Do it for the sake of something that might make a difference. Please believe that the future has a place for PvP.

We are really struggling to coach without experience people willing to help others.

Its really sad, because I read almost every day on OPvP and the forums how frustrated people are, and how PvP is on its last legs, and how no-one PvP's anymore.

Is that it? Are we just going to buy into that reality?

I just don't get people that can complain when there is a group desperate to try and build something. People that are doing it FOR you.

It's like seeing a elderly pedestrian in trouble trying to cross the street, and turning a blind-eye on their suffering.

It's not good enough.

I know that you are there. I see you login everyday.

To ALL the est. PvP fleets that assisted us in the past - please we can't do this alone.

I have often received personal commitments from upstanding members of PvP.

Well. Its time to stand up.

If you are willing to be counted, please post your @handle.

If you want to give an excuse, please - I ask you not to.

Boot Camp is about starting friendships and supporting one another.

I think we'd have a better chance to challenging the devs to allow us to build our own pvp maps in the foundry.

    I'd be happy to help

    @johnny111971

In the interests of full disclosure, I don't pretend to be a PvP Expert, but consider myself to be a decent Tac, and a decent Sci healer. I see myself as a beginner coach type. Introduction to X classes. That the later coaches could build off of.

I have received tremendous help from others who should be advanced coaches... but perhaps their students should have some pvp fundemental courses first.

The one thing I noted from my recent involvement in a recent PvP Boot Camp session, is the skills of the attendees were pretty wide, which presented a challenge for the coaches, where there were some that needed a lot of attention, and others who wanted to speed things along. Offering different levels of classes might be a good idea, and break out sessions for specific roles/character class (i.e. Tac/Sci/Eng). The coaches in my recent class did a great job, but were constantly challenged by trying to make the class relevant to all attendees (How to play the healer role, vs the tac alpha).

Just a thought, and always willing to help!

    Hey Victor!

Your help and experting in the building of a tac cruiser could be paid off in the coming advanced seminars, what will be held when we will have more coaches for that aim.

    Thank you in advance! :)

No, many I think thought "oh wow, cryptic is taking part in something pvp related. Maybe it'll actually draw attention to how lacking an broken it is an lead to some fixes and new content."

Sadly, nothing has happened except make the gap to get into pvp even higher with the latest grind that can only be done in pve.

So the moral of the story is, cryptic doesnt care why should I?

And I hate to say it, while "noble" the idea of a senate... Bureaucracies are usually a bad thing.

We have many people that can teach the basics of PvP in our Fleet, but the main problem is that they don't know English to a speaker level, so we can provide text only coaches.

If you want to give an excuse, please - I ask you not to.

I won't give excuses as to why I am not participating in PVP Boot Camp. I'll give facts:

My Mother passed away in April, and I'm still struggling to get my life in order.

I have a pair of real life friends who are more interested in SW:TOR then STO, so we play SW:TOR most nights usually from 6pm Eastern Standard time till 10pm Eastern Standard time. Some times Longer, and some times earlier.

Because of my time away, I have been noticing I'm not as good as I once was. I probably would need to take classes more then teach them as of late.

Those are the three things that have been taking up my time away from STO and giving me the ability to contribute to the PVP Boot camp. So I am sorry if I have not been able to give any help lately.

This is the problem with most of ppl. If he does not care about it, why should I? Yeah, this is the best and easiest to say!

But will you say it when you need help in the future and a person does not help you, because you did not help him in the past? This is what leads us into arguments like this, but arguing about helping each other is ridiculous and shameful. Help must be an indivdual and selfless decision without the hope of getting back something for it. Nevertheless, our blessed coaches got their reward before they did something.

And now I am speaking of every coaches, not just 1 or 2. I understand that some of them may have issues due to real life or else, but most of them I see playing, I see logging them in and off. These ppl we are asking about what have happened.

Now you can offend about it. I do not care!

I think you are missing the point. Helping other players is one thing, and is not necessarily connected to Bootcamp.

Playing the poster boy for something seemingly having Cryptic's stamp of approval, telling people that the Dev's care, are working on it is something else.

I just lost my motivation to pew, because of round after round of p2w TRIBBLE and broken cheese. So telling people that:" eng's will come back with a vengeance; Systems listens so Cryptic will do something to remedy X; No pvp fleets are not cheating, and yes coordination beats proc+gear ..... " i m just not as comfortable as i was before in making these statements.

Cryptic had a chance to show us that they care, remember the whole Gozer fiasco, S8 PvP rep is coming.... look at where we are now. They had the benefit of the doubt, Boot camp was a huge success, but cryptic's actions, as usual, were completely counterproductive. So yes, RL inteferes with STo as it usually does in Sommer, but in addition, they don't give a damn, so what good is teaching people to not be selfish, brign healers, play fair. When the queues are full of exploiting 5 men teams, and all PvE remains rommies online.

i see the point why former coaches doesn't like to participate this time, cryptic just is leaving us behind again.

on the other hand i see the necessity to teach new pvp'ers, to may widen the base and to may get some influence in the long run (more pvp'ers, more influence? at least in threads like the "state of the game" thread. i'd like to keep on hoping).

so... i'm not sure if i could fit your standards (my gameplay is more about feeling than about knowledge i'd say :D), i'm even not sure if i always could be there on the sessions, but i'd be willing to coach.

so if ya want me for showing german (may english as well) newbs some standards i'd might be in for that. i'm usually going on a tac, balanced between dps and tanking. here's my build, may u can decide by that if ya want to contact me (i slightly run a different build by now, but most in there is actual): http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=682411&highlight=use-any-ship

If i hadnt been HELPING this game along for the past 3 years id totally agree with you.

I'm more then willing to help people who ask for my help, i still from time to time give sci build advice.

none of that has to do with what i was talking about.

caring in this game also doesnt matter to the devs, i'm tired of caring when i dont get the love back. i get more love from a wall then this company.

this guy gets it. he's been around fairly long too.

some of us veteran players are just flat out tired of the BS that cryptic has been spoon feeding us and ignoring us and letting this go and never fixing the important things.

i will continue to help people when asked, but i cannot and will no longer support anything that has only crypitcs stamp and nothing else. (and even this stamp they give boot camp is nearly meaningless)

I'd be happy to help out; in fact I was very interested. Until a bunch of exploiters, as coaches, decided in their infinite wisdom to destroy the premise of boot camp essentially. If you speak to some of the trainees they echo this stipulation.

I can't tell if they did or didn't, but i'm going by what I have read and been told.

Hi there - I am sorry to hear that you think like that.

Sadly Boot Camp cannot police the actions of its members. We cannot control what people say or do.

But, I will unequivocally defend that Boot Camp has never suggested, taught mechanics, or advocated gameplay that was or is considered unfair.

If anyone says any different it is false, rumour or someone who wants to do harm to Boot Camp.

Sorry but again i have to say no unfortunately. And sadly I cannot post my reasonings for it either. I will keep on helping individual players who are open for it, and aren't stubborn or only use PvP for their personal trolling.

Like I've done for years, I'm sorry I cannot extend my contributions to your endeavors but I wish you all the luck in the world for many more bootcamps to come.

Ofcourse being here for almost 3 years has left me scarred by Cryptic like we all are, so I can give you that much... But I guess you could pretty much already Guess that was a very small part of the reason.

    So long.

You know there were other members of bootcamp who helped out with coaching. Could you be bothered to remember their fleets as well? I mean honestly. Are there only 4 fleets in this game? Are the other fleets who chipped in last time or who might be worthy of helping this time not worth you mentioning as well? Lag Industries? TRIBBLE. maybe? The 528th? Federation Emergency Services? Show me Your Critz? No other decent players in other fleets you can recollect? Perhaps if you were to reach out to more than just the fleets you have friends in you would have more success.
