I picked up the web mine launcher, its a very powerful weapon, 30 sec cd, physical damage that scales with aux power, tac buffs do buff its damage further, did some testing with them with some fleet mates.
- 2 mines launched takes 40% of an escorts hull unbuffed.
- the stun is similar to the tric mines, AP omega does not grey out.
- A full dispersal pattern beta 3 is an instant kill regardless of buffs.
- A full pattern beta 2 with tac buffs will bring an escort to 25% hull buffed.
- The physical damage scales with aux power, damage starts at 1502-1665 per mine, per 0.5 secs. Awesome science capt weapon, (finally).
- Easily killed in group combat, same as any other mine.
- the physical damage dealt cannot be reduced, as its physical, we don`t have a physical resist on our ships.
-
Conclusion, they are very powerful, to powerful in the hands of a tac, Similar to the one hit kills from tricobalt mines, probably bugged with there damage being dealt. As the fleet mates said it was ticking for 4-5k per tick, while I was unbuffed, and a lot more while I was buffed. The mine does say Its supposed to be 50% shield penetration, seems its all penetrating, or bypassing, cause my fleet mates took almost no shield damage when hit with the mines.
All in all, a good weapon, needs a bit of balancing an bug fixing, I say they should scale stronger with aux power, less damage with lower aux (50) should deal 1000 damage per mine per 0.5 secs up to 1665 with 125 aux. That would allow sci captains to have a damage dealing ability that works with there debuffs, an tacs can only match its damage with tac buffs in a spike damage application. That's all provided cryptic verifys its working properly, but I suspect its not.
I did notice I cannot see there damage being dealt, in the combatlog, on my screen, or in my combat tracker (advanced combat tracker). But my fleet mates could see it the screen on the receiving end.
many ppl reported in tribble that they was OP as hell. What is going to happend? the game will become in a spam of tholian mines, until the massive spam in the forum about them will bring devs attention. Then after 1 month or 2, it will be nerfed.
I really don't know why tribble exists, don't care if you report something broken/unblanced there, it will go live to holodeck.
it makes me sad to think of all the marks i would still need to grind to max the rep, AND to get this weapon to try it out. sounds horrifyingly op, its like the ice shotgun in space
I was one of the people that reported that it was OP on Tribble. I remember it was during the Closed Beta actually. This hurts, since it clearly shows our time testing equipment and gear is kinda going to waste. Maybe it was just because they were very intent on making the deadline for LoR. I would like to think so, but the Nakura Web Mines with Dispersal Pattern Beta 3 can make a cloaked B'rel into a superweapon. Litterally kill any ship that is unlucky enough to cross your minefield. These even skunk what Tricobalts could do, since they had to first disable your shield.
OP is a mega understatement after tonight.
Being in the pug queues ended up against a premade fleet team.
If it was bad enough that they were using pretty much every broken and glitched skill in the game but they quite happily used these mines.
I got stung by them.
Instant death just about and no combatting it at all.

I feel like we may have just been in the same match
Combat (Other)] an unknown entity's Web Mine Explosion dealt 162 (857) shield damage to frost.
[Combat (Other)] an unknown entity's Web Mine Explosion dealt 132 (698) shield damage to frost.
[Combat (Other)] an unknown entity deals 1047 (1824) Physical Damage to frost with Web Mine Explosion.
[Combat (Other)] an unknown entity deals 853 (1486) Physical Damage to frost with Web Mine Explosion.
this is the average damage of the mines unbuffed with 58 aux power. and only 2 mines, this is what is dealt every 0.5 secs, now multiply this by 8 = 17,552 total damage from just 2 mines, multiply that by 4 and you have the total dispersal damage from dispersal pattern beta 3. Which = 70,208, that is rather insane. Before full aux, before tac buffs, before debuffs, and before any other battle damage taken.
On a side note act and the combat log track these mines as unknown entity, act adds it to the pet spam section.

Web mine test right there.
Also, i don't know about the second time in the video but we had the cruiser put on jevonite hard points to get the full effect.
100% shield bypass, and deals a damage type that has nothing to do with space or space resistance types, and and be dispersal patterned. WTF were they thinking. transphasic mines what? pointless compared to this. it bypassing shields is a joke, and it should be dealing energy damage
That is ridiculous. The second time that was used on that cruiser, BOOM, dead within just a couple clicks of damage. That is insane, and if they hit, there is NO way to resist that physical damage (which explains why the CE can hurt so much on it's shock wave thing).
That's just astoundingly over the top. Even without tac buffs, all you need is those on a DPB 3. Anything else is just fluff really.
The fact that it is physical damage means that there is NOTHING you can do to resist these, nothing. You can't GET physical resist damage (so far as I know).
Though part of this has to be a bug, those shields didn't even budge, they shouldn't at least moved a little no matter what. So that means that they are to start with, ignoring their 50% bleedthrough (which would technically be 55-60% bleedthrough, but still). Maybe they should be changed to normal kinetic damage, then it won't be so bad except for that stun/hold.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Those are crazy levels right there. Stun for that length of time was bad enough. However, once tac-buffed, dealing those amounts of damage right through the shields is plain awful. It's like tricobalt mine dispersals all over again....with an even longer stun. And you don't even have to crit to kill someone with those....
And I heard in the background - 44k dps in the pet spam section, which logs those mines. 44k dps is already pretty high, and in this case straight to hull....yep, these are unnerfed Tricobalt Mines Mk 100.
There was someone recently in the General Discussion area bragging about using those mines in Kerrat and qq-ing the BoPs. Talk about using a crutch.

Anyway, balance pass needed very badly.
and the series continues: In the exciting LoR premiere episode you find the previously nerfed and said to be op PSW stun return with a vengance. Naturally the series' hero, the amazing tac/scort can now stun you for longer times then any sci/sci ever could.
*Spoiler alert* Maybe PSW stun chains aren't really trying to make a comback, could it be tric mines 2.0 tune in and find out. Don't forget to bring you APA.
Good Job cryptic, just delete the friggin trinity and get on with it.
That video showed it quite well, although that's tame compared to what I've seen in PvP being used.
A lot of premades using them too.
So on that note, whilst I normally shun the use of broken stuff, these I'm going to go for. Why?
Well it appears to be ok for PvP fleets to use them so why shouldn't I? Especially to remain slightly competitive.
I am wondering how much the Web mines do with out the GDF but the other Tac buffs.
Because obviously GDF at the levels in the Vid were going to push damage up pretty high.
Not that I am not saying that those mines are nuts, but ya know.. not everyone will be waiting for GDF to drop them that low (And be able to) for that super moment of OPness.
You think that your beta test was bad?
Think about this: American Football has been in open beta for 144 years. ~Kotaku
Uggh...I had to leave a kerrat instance due to these...a huge group of feds were just dropping them at spawn and theres no escape - once caught, its over in my bop..and should you respawn...the webs left where they know you'll spawn will grab you before you can move!
I accept kerrat spam - ewp, ams, emp - the whole shebang..but this...this is no fun - I am not going to fork out 1500 dil (plus items/doffs) a throw for a consumable just to defeat this weapon (noting the mine itself is not consumable..)
Of course maybe thats the point...to make you pay for the ability to not be affected by them...

When i played around with them before we done the video just an alpha/dispersal 1 killed an escort.

You can try them out now... just go copy your toon over to Tribble, then pay the old DS9 Omega Rep vendors a visit. They can be purchased for 0EC each.
My fleet mates and I started testing both Nukura space sets on Tribble last week. When a carrier opponent is present, web mines were completely useless since carrier pets shot them down at high priority. Whenever my ship got caught my a web mine, I activated AP-Omega to break free.
Nukura web mines are available at T4 Nukura rep for 500 marks + 15k dilithium + some astrometric probes and industrial replicators. I placed one on my Fleet Defiant with DPB3, and it worked pretty well for what it was, but didn't seem that impressive otherwise. I'll test it out again at max Aux power to see if it works any better.
Somebody do me a favor and slap the mines on a T'Varo. See if the DPT launch reduces their cooldown. Just curious.
Yes. Firing the torp immediately after dropping the mines set the cooldown to 11 secs from 24.

After seeing you other thread, I think it might well have been. I think we were in one tonight at the same time.
It got worse later on as well.
It was that bad that even Entrax himself was forced to leave a match along with the rest of our team.

Instead of the disable these things need to take engines off line for X amount of time or something...
The combo of 50-90% of your hull and a 2+ second disable is just plain dumb.
