I've noticed that when the game does work for me and I have netgraph turned on, the RECV can ranges from a few hundred to a few thousand. Whereas when the lag is really bad but constant the RECV is in the millions, say during CE and in the hundreds of thousands when just at ESD.
hope this bit of information helps you guys get a fix out.
    thanks

I realize you have asked to report anything above 180ms but either way I have rubberbanding problems for quite some time. And proxy settings didn't help. Sometimes it's ok, sometimes it is not.

Weird thing is that in nettest I don't have the results for the second and third column. Any feedback on this?

I too was having a really crappy performance issue with the game since LoR hit...

I finally went into Video Options under TROUBLE SHOOTING at the bottom and TURNED OFF the Direct X-11Beta option. (didn't even know it was ON)...

My game playability improved almost immediately.

There are Three Options for this...

    DirectX-11Beta
    DirectX-9 or 10
    and
    AUTO

Make sure to use the one that is most compatible with your machine.

I have an older machine that is still running on Direct X-9 and doing fine with the game.

Another thing you can try is to change what MODE you are running the game in...

    FULLSCREEN
    WINDOWED
    or
    WINDOWED MAXIMIZED

It can make a big difference depending on your system.

For me, FULLSCREEN worked best till LoR hit, now WINDOWED works best.

By checking these two thing, I was able to vastly improve my game playability.

I still get the occasional drop-out but no where near the large number as before, nor the massive lag I had been plagued with lately.

    Just some suggestions. :)

BTW: Everybody that is seeing the bos0x.atlas.cogentco with their pings...

We just found out recently that that is were the Cryptic Server is located.
(Dstahl mentioned in the latest ASK CRYPTIC, that their server is located on the East Coast in Boston)

So if your getting lousy numbers there, it's probably them, not you.

I've been getting extreme lag, not responding, and rubber banding... Any suggestions?
using proxy server has not helped.
ISP already contacted, nothing wrong there.
Modem and router check out fine.

I use BT broadband in the UK and it usually tests around 5 meg. Everything else is working fine, but rubber banding is really bad at the moment.

I basically can't play because game is lagging and rubberbanding all the time. Tracert seems to be ok, but nettest looks really bad. My ISP is Starman, i'm from Estonia.

I've been having severe lag today, and occasional lag the past few days. Today was so bad it went beyond rubberbanding to every character and AI in a map freezing, with only some effects still rendering like plasma.

    I have Verizon FIOS.

I'm convinced it's on their end. It's definitely not my computer which is more than powerful enough to run multiple instances of this game simultaneously. I never had an issue with lag like this when I played last year, and don't have lag issues in any other game.

It may be as simple as needing a server reboot. I don't know. What I do know is the lag has gotten steadily worse day after day since I started playing again, and somehow not everyone is getting it.

This is enough to tell what the problem is...

But I don't have problems connecting or authenticating, and I only get these issues in STFs (ground is worse than space) and crowded maps like the Academy Event.

Umm wait, I do have "server not responding" problems while ingame though. It usually only lasts a few seconds but it did kick me twice in a row the other day. I log in, patch and load my characters with no problems though so it's not as bad as what people in that thread are experiencing. It's also been over two weeks since the last post.

There's nothing in my tracert or nettest to indicate there's a problem either. In fact if I'm interpreting that nettest correctly (this is a test from me to Cryptic right?) I have a very fast connection all the way through, except for that Idle NIC. I don't know what that is. I mean I'm looking at at least 3k kb/sec on every port. Am I interpreting that wrong? Where is the problem?

What I will do is wait until peak hours, maybe 8 or 9 PM EDT, and run these tests again. I expect a significant difference in results.

(I do wish I could change my time zone on this forum, it's four hours behind me. I see no option to.)

Did you do the 'Net Test' at the time you were having the issue??? Due to fixed and limited amount of bandwidth that Verizon has implemented on its gateway to Cogent Communication, the issues will only show up when the gateway starts to approach maximum capacity. (In other words, during peak network 'prime time') Under non-peak conditions, the connection would look absolutely normal.... I suspect your issue is being caused by packet drop, caused by network congestion from the limited bandwidth of the gateway. The STO Client can tolerate a limited amount of packet drop on its connection (as some packet drop on a connection is a normal behavior for the Internet) but a large amount of packet drop will cause lag (due to multiple requests to resend missed data on a connection) and dropped connections.

The fact that not everyone is suffering from Lag, (I have none on my Comcast connection from the Silicon Valley...) shows that its not a STO Server capacity issue...

(And the Idle NIC is suppose to Zero. Its purpose is to indicate if a third party app, utility, or malicious trojan is stealing your network bandwidth in the background...)

No I didn't do it at peak time which is why I said I'll try to do it tonight. I'm expecting to see drastically different results.

Can someone help me with this figures and what I need to do with them? STO has been working perfectly for me until the last 24 hours. Then today, severe rubberbanding - and every few minutes I get "Server not responding". I have never had issues other than some minor rubberbanding in ESD a few months ago.

My ISP says nothing's new - and I've not altered my computer one bit. Everything tells me the issue is at their end - but apparently the servers are fine.

So I have only one value above 180 in the tracert test - and in the nettest, there is clearly issue with Port 80, 443 and 7725.

If this is a Net test - testing the connection with their servers - this is surely not an issue at my end. Everything else I am doing on the internet is at the expected speed.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

So yeah it's really bad at peak times. There's nothing I can do about it. At least now that I know it's neither on my end nor Cryptic's end, I can (sort of) live with it.

What I need to do now is find a way to effectively complain to Verizon about this.

I'm in Greensboro, NC and we have Time Warner Cable. I can't even be on this game for more than 10 minutes without it crashing my entire internet. Every other game works fine except STO and Neverwinter. I'm running windows 8 64-bit and hard lined to my netgear modem/router. My roommate can't play it either without disconnecting everyone and he is using the wireless connection. Please help me I'd love to enjoy this game, it's awesome other than the disconnecting issue.

If your network connection (e.g. modem/router) is going down, the issue isn't with STO (as there's nothing the STO Servers can do but send network data), the issue is with your router/modem...

The actual issue involved is the number of simultaneous network connections your network/modem supports. Low end modem/routers are known to have thrashing problems with fewer then 2 dozen simultaneous network connections, and STO is already documented with causing problems with low end routers, due to the number of simultaneous network connections it uses...

There are some things you could try, such as shutting down all other background networking apps (such as streaming music, bit-torrent, etc...) and disable the STO in-game voice chat functionality. If this doesn't help enough to correct the problem, then you're going to have to contact your ISP, and invest in a more capable router/modem...
