Most of my ships and Captains are named with the few Hebrew words that I can remember from my days in Bible College but as I couldn't remember any bird names in Hebrew for my Romulan I chose Sparrow which is fragile like me for the ship and the Captains name is based on my own.
My Andorian engineer's ships are all named after figures in Finnish mythology. The Luohi, The Loviatar, The Ukko, ect. Current ships are the USS Ilmarinen (named after the Finnish hero/god who forged the dome of the heavens) and the cap's yacht is the USS Sampo ( after a device forged by Ilmarinen that could create gold, grain, or salt at will.)

I like this, very much. :cool: As far as Star Trek has gone to portray people and cultures the world over working together (and it has done much) I keep wishing it would push more.
I loved that Capt. Robau was "born in Cuba and raised in the Middle East.". I loved discovering a people of which I'd never previously heard, Chakotay's ancestors the Rubber Tree People. Had I not created my Fed human as a homage to movie serial sci-fi, I'd be researching names and context to create a captain and ship tied to Greenland, or Yap, or aboriginal Australia, or some place and people not usually seen in Star Trek.
Mine is the USS Thunderblaze, or it's going to be once I get it set up. The 'Alliance of Thunder' was the first group I was ever leader of. It was in a Hunger Games roleplay and we were a bunch of tributes in an alliance :P Blaze was my alliance in the RP that followed on from that one (sequel, almost) before it got shut down. Hence, Thunderblaze.
Then if I get another ship it'll be the USS Aspire. The Aspire was the first ship I ever captained (roleplay ship, of course). We had a running joke with it about it getting blown up - I can't even remember how it started, but it was a really old ship and basically falling apart, and people would say stuff like, 'Yeah, the reason the ship doesn't have a gym is 'cause if people hit stuff too hard the whole wall would fall off' or (straight out of spacedock) 'Are you sure Captain? Warp seven? Can the ship handle it?' or (after the entire computer crashed this one time) 'Don't get annoyed at the computer, Ensign, things could be worse. This thing will blow up if you shout at it too loud' and even 'We'd better not invite Ensign Kay to the senior staff briefing... if we make the replicator do eleven cups of tea at once then the ship might explode from stress'.
We put it through 37 hours at warp nine point five, a battle with the Borg, an emergency landing and takeoff, and a memorable time when the Chief Engineer was possessed by a weird alien intelligence and attacked the warp core with an axe. It never fell apart or blew up or was even in repairs longer than a few days. Then one day we were flying off a starbase, my character slammed a fist on the armrest of the captain's chair, and boom, all hands abandon ship. I haven't had a command of my own on any roleplay site since :P
For Vice Admiral Jesu LaRoca - RXS Sting Ray, obviously. In red, obviously.
For General Ssharki - RXS ChIS'a' (Great White) unless I can figure out the tlhIngan word for "Jaws." (because it's the perfect summer movie.) Probably go with either the white with black stripe pattern or the mottled blue.

My main toon's ships all have Hawaiian-based names. She's an engineer currently flying an Oddy named the U.S.S. Fort Elizabeth, after the only Russian outpost ever established in Hawaii. Previously, we were working through the Hawaiian royalty; we had the Liliuokalani, the Kamehameha I, and the Kahekili.
My Caitian tac officer got a bugship as a present a couple years ago, from a gift box. Ol' Captain Scream 'n' Leap named it the U.S.S. Jagermonster, after the Heterodyne shock troops from Girl Genius. All his earlier ships were science-fiction authors.
My Sci toon is also Caitian; her ship is the carrier the U.S.S. Sekhmet.
My Vulcan doesn't get out much; until the latest Doff update, she mainly was a troopship for supplying the starbase build. No imagination here with the U.S.S. Seleya.
I don't much run my Klingon, so her ships are largely generic, and I haven't built a Romulan yet.
"Susse-thrai" had been the name bestowed upon her, half in anger, half in affection, by her old crew on Bloodwing; the keen-nosed, cranky, wily old she-beast, never less dangerous than when you thought her defenseless, and always growing new teeth far back in her throat to replace the old ones broken in biting out the last foe's heart. Romulans: left one homeworld, lost another, third time's the charm?
My Miranda was named USS Leviathan after the title object of the book Leviathan (great book, highly recommend it), Constitution was the Leviathan-A, Heavy cruiser was the Battersea, no idea why I chose that name, My Galaxy was the Valhalla due to a recent fascination with Norse mythology and my Sovereign is the Valhalla-A
My Fed ship naming schema is to use ComStar ship names and Com Guard division names, ComStar being the pursudo- religious interstellar communications organisation in BattleTech, resulting in names like Outbound Light, Vision of Truth, Rigid Compliance, Vigorous Defiance, Clear Courtesy, Vigilant Thought and so on.
Naming a new ship is one of the best parts of the game for me.
For me the more syllables the better, I like it when they end in a vowel, and they are not typically nouns for me.
Abominable, Anonymity, Fandango, Babylonian, Anomaly, Space Oddity, Ubiquitous, Indignant. They all have their reasons/sources but I won't bore you....anymore.
I just have to ask, why have I not seen this ship in all my travels? :P
Novae Aquilae: my subadmiral's new Ha'apax. It is named in keeping with my theme of the Republic rising to power. The translators assure me it is Latin for The New (or Young) Eagles. I could find no word for "raptors" so I used a substitute.

That's very similar to my Reman ships name. Rex Aquila, which is Latin for King Eagle.
I wanted to go along with the idea that Starfleet would continue their mission towards peace, diplomacy and exploration, so I wanted something that would emulate this while avoiding the generic aggressive that would counter that. Endeavor seemed appropriate.
I name my newest ship Endeavor and rename my existing ones something else keeping the Endeavor as my flagship. With it's shuttle "El-Baz" for obvious reasons.

An Ambassador class vessel named after the largest mountain in England and Wales, my shuttle is named after one of the ridges, Crib Goch.
There was also NCC-93650, a Constitution class, NCC-93650-A, an Exeter class and NCC-93385 U.S.S. Paris, a Cheyenne class heavy cruiser.
I'm a relatively new player but once I have more ships and characters I'll name my exploration cruisers after mountains, light cruisers and science vessels after birds, escorts after rivers and heavy cruisers after capital cities.
My new Federation character's ship is NCC-93553 U.S.S. Ibis, a Centaur class light cruiser.
R.R.W. Skynet II: Scorpion class attack fighter. Named after the Famous movie Skynet
I.R.W. Poseidon: Scimitar class Dreadnought Warbird. Named after a god from my country's mythology. Poseidon was the god of the sea.

My two Fed characters have runabouts named for rivers, just like the DS9 runabouts. Both are named for popular whitewater rafting/kayaking rivers in my home region.
USS Nantahala, which is Cherokee for "Land of the Noonday Sun", is named for the river 100 miles from me in the North Carolina mountains. The first week of September this year, it will be the host for the 2013 Freestyle World Championships for canoe and kayak
USS Chattoogais named for the river about 50 miles away that flows in and around Ellicott Rock, the border point of North Carolina, Georgia, and South Carolina, my home. I used to hike, camp, and fish along the Chattooga near that rock.
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
In Last Remnant this weapon shoots off a energy beam that reminded me of the Javelin that came with it and it's an awesome name that seems to fit.

My tactical's ship name is War Kitten from a capital one commercial.
My Rom engineer ship name hasn't been chosen yet tho I'm prolly going with something from futurama.
