also the ship weapons size bit ppl could have their connie and not be on par with Galaxys and what not so that be a win win all over
imo cryptic needed some one like you when making ship classes maybe even captain to
I would have been quite happy to do "creative consultant" for Cryptic if they had asked me. There are many ways to differentiate between star-ships and Cryptic have ignored this and made it obsolete. For example, the Intrepid Class was basically designed as a Phaser Boat in the Light Escort Class as well as being an "Interceptor" offering a great deal of point defense. The Steamrunner however was designed to be more a torpedo boat in the light escort catagory.
See what I mean, go to Memory Alpha, get the ship stats correct and then give a "hint" for what a ship is for in the design and layout of the vessel. However don't start penalising players for using a vessel for a different way because that's cool "original thinking". Some of the most fun I've had was in Starfleet command III discovering how I could put Sovereign style Quantum Torpedoes on an Intrepid and still have enough armour to defend myself.
1) Remove any non-faction ships from the game including lockbox ships so the Federation, Klingon and Romulans all fly their OWN ships and not Cardassian, Jem'hadar and whatever.
2) Take the Borg out of STF's and missions and reintroduce them in 25 player hard mode raids and make them seriously difficult to bring back the scare factor to the Borg. Redo their visuals to make them scary with the ability to assimilate your ship or adapt to your weapons in space and force you to re-modulate your shields to prevent them from cutting through them.
3) Make the Romulan Star Empire the faction so the Romulans had their own playerbase, ships and interests that are seperate from the Federation and Klingons.
4) More ship customisation, with weapons based on size rather then Mark. For example, you could not put a Galaxy Class phaser array (Mark X - in canon) on a Defiant Class because the ship would not have the power to support it. Make equipment and weaponry non-specific on each ship so you can put more weapons on it but at the cost of other systems performance.
5) Reclassify all the Federation ships to their correct CANON designations... for example;
Get rid of this stupid "Holy trinity" of ships and bring in aspects of EACH ship to make them unique depending on what role you want to play. For example, if you wanted to coordinate Fleet tactics, a Galaxy class would be an ideal "Command Ship" due to its presence and heavy armor on the battlefield. Make each ship unique and more generalized so people can fly the SHIPS THEY WANT, NOT WHAT YOU TELL THEM TO FLY CRYPTIC... *Cough* JHAS *Cough* Excelsior *Cough*
Since I'd basically change the whole which is not realistic, I quote this posting and add my "This!" to it. These changes would greatly improve the game in feel and uniqueness and still keep somewhat true to the gameplay as it is without making a whole different game.
I'd like to add if I'd like to see the factions have unique ways of outfitting their ships as well. For example, the Klingons (which should be KLINGONS and not a red federation as of now. All the other races could be "allies" but not wear klingon outifts and hang around their ships) shouldn't have access to beam arrays which is a specialty for Starfleet (featuring heavy arrays on ships the size of the Galaxy and up) but instead excel at torpedo tech, Starfleet on the other hand wouldn't use cannons (only the Defiant is the exception and she shouldn't have a cloak. NO cloak for SF) and the Romulans can't use turrets but can use unique super-heavy cannons mounted on their warbirds. Expand on diversity instead of uniformity.
^ Memory Alpha.org is not canon. It's a open wiki with arbitrary rules. Only what can be cited from an episode is. ^
"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
1) change the way beam arrays and cannons fire, you only ever saw 1 beam at a time form the Enterprises, bops and warbirds only every fired 1 set of cannons and the defiant onloy fired 2.....so either reduce the number of weapon slots (but make the weapons hit harder) or have a graphics option to only show 1 or 2 weapons firing.
2) more costume options for Klingons.....seriosly, females have 6 hairstyles.....6?
3) Agree with the better and more useable interiors, smaller scaled, looking like the TV shows with more interaction....plus crew costume options....and non KDF interiors for all KDF ships.
4) full weapon and kit visual customisation, scale weapons so they dont look too big and let us choose the model....early level phaser and disruptor rifles are the best looking IMO
5) Make the Galaxy viable....its only the most iconic ship (after the Connie) yet its pretty much useless ingame

Thank you for hiring me, it seems that Cryptic should have hired me when they made this game. It would be my dream job, putting passion and love into Gene's work which I have admired since I was a boy. That is what Cryptic lacks, passion for trek.
1. All Federation/Klingon ship bridges and interiors (that need it) would be redone. Graphical overhauls to bring them into line with the quality and interior scaling that exists in the Romulan Interior, TOS Interior, Belfast Interior & Wells Interior.
2. Control system developed to allow user to set the uniforms for crew in their interior. This same system would be used to allow guild leaders to set the crew uniforms within Fleet Starbases. System would give you control of the population, allowing you to use sliders to set the type of races your crew is comprised of, as well as gender and the number of crew present in the hallways. So, if you wanted an all Reman crew, with about 50% of the default number of NPCs roaming the halls, set the sliders and presto-chango, your ship is how you want to see it!
3. More interior based content. Daily missions and such which give you 2-3 random missions every few hours on board your own ship. Little 5-10 minute missions involving puzzles (science & engineering - ie, research experiements, basic maintenance, system failures, etc) and tactical based missions such as repeling a boarding party, or engaging in training exercises on the holodeck / phaser range.
4. Fleet Cruiser Retrofit. Excalibur / Vesper / Exeter skins only. With 100% Universal BOff slots. Essentially the Federation's version of the BoP.
5. Added vanity titles. Some options include Commodore, Fleet Captain, Privateer, Raider, Pirate, etc. Also, having the ability to set how in-game NPCs address us, by what we choose, so if we aren't playing as an Admiral, then we wouldn't be called Admiral.
"You shoot him, I shoot you, I leave both your bodies here and go out for a late night snack.
I'm thinking maybe pancakes." ~ John Casey
1) Ditch PWE as game owners and get a company that actually cares about it's clients.
2) Make it so you can make a single Ship uniform that all BOFs and interior crews wear (This would of course include race specific clothing such as Orion wear and Romulan wear for Federation/Klingon Allied Boffs and allow the female Romulans/Remens/Aliens to wear the 22nd century Helmet)
3) Scale ship interiors/engine rooms to the Ship (This way the BoPs do not have the same sized enginge room as a Bortasqu' I mean seriously are they using Time Lord Tech in these ships?)
4) Start giving the Klingons some new Small craft to fly (they only have 2 not counting the one you need to be a Vet to get while the Feds have...what...a dozen by now?)
5) Give the Romulans a T5 Science Ship with sub system targeting. Currently there are 4 T5 Ships that are wither like Cruisers or Escorts (Tho I have a feeling somewhere down the line they will be giving the Romulans a Carrier to flyy which may have the Subsystem Targeting).
3) Scale ship interiors/engine rooms t the Ship (This way the BoPs do not have the same sized enginge room as a Bortasqu' I mean seriously are they using Time Lord Tech in these ships?)
1: change science and some engineer skills back to exotic damage instead of kinetic.
2: change the load screen time for simpler areas like the ship interior and the foundry missions.
3: remove the load screen boundries in sector space
4: add more explore missions that are similar to the exploration of new romulus mission and the mission to remove the explosives from the khitomer base station, and one other to add an engineer mission to help a colony out by repairing their systems for survival or ship that's in distress.
5: at normal skill levels from choosing the max points in the skills tree, allow for certain skills to have less pushback until reaching a skill level above 110 in the skills. For example if one has 99 in grav, make it so repulsor beam skill doesn't push the enemy back so far unless the skill is raised to 110 or higher. That way when players stack particle gen consoles in order to increase damage it won't increase the pushback on these types of skills just the damage output.
1.
Return all crossfaction consoles and Omega items to their previous owner. Delete all items which have already been obtained by characters of the opposite faction.
or ...
Go 'crossfaction' all the way an offer Escort Carriers, Danube type pets, Kumari line type escorts and Vesta type science ships to KDF and Orion slaver type pets and frigate pets to the Federation.
2.
Kill D'Tan for high treason.
3.
Execute all Aliens in the Romulan Republic.
4.
Enslave the Remans and send them to the Dilithium mines in the Tau Dewa sector. All Reman players can do henceforth is the mining event. All dilithium they gather is equally distributed to all Romulan characters.
5.
Rename the Romulan Republic to 'Second Romulan Star Empire', then have all true Romulans laugh like this.
4.

5.
Rename the Romulan Republic to 'Second Romulan Star Empire', then have all true Romulans laugh like this.
1: Nerf the bugs, the list of things that work should be longer than the list of bugs, simple as.
2: Make all three current factions unique and equally catered for, meaning the KDF should get a wave of new stuffs and the Romulan republic should get freedom from Fed/KDFness, such a policy is plain laziness at the end of the day.
3: Balance ALL the things!!!!!!!!!!!! (in line with PvP standards to keep that healthy and to ensure all new stuff is also balanced properly)
4: Rebuild all PvE based on the new PvP balancing and improve the AI.
5: Give the player more choice story-wise, if the player chooses a given profession the storyline should reflect that, if the user makes a choice in a mission for example they chose to comply with the Tal Shiar during "mindgames" then they should become a model employee of the Tal Shiar, if they try not to then obviously the story should reflect that also with class and faction based optional objectives in STFs etc.
4.

These need to happen NOW!
You made us mad with the Romulan Republic now is your time to fix it
1) Reset missions to call us by the titles we select for our characters, instead of our mechanics based rank.
2) Reset some of the mission series to run parallel to one another as your character levels. Having to trudge my already level capped Romulan through the Borg mission series in order to play the Breen Featured episode is a violation of my 8th Amendment rights. :P Seriously, you have done a fantastic job of putting enough PvE content in the game that it is theoretically possible to level a toon without having to retrace all the same steps on every character in a given faction, now just open them up as alternatives, so we're not forced to play every mission when there is no longer a need to (Borg missions are pretty pointless now that the Borg Assimilated set is a Reputation reward).
3) Expand First Contact missions. For starters, make them easier to get to. Right now, even with my lead toon's diplomacy maxed out, it's a rare blessing to get one of these. I would also like to request that the nature of these missions be expanded beyond a Q&A session. Maybe even a Featured Ep based on a very in depth First Contact scenario?
4) Adventure areas on all the worlds with planet side areas. Nimbus, Nukara, and New Romulus have shown that you folks can execute them very well now. Run loose a bit. Risa is BEGGING for some reason to go there.
5) Civilian life. I know a lot of players here might get hives at the thought of non-leveling/reward based content, but the reality is, there's a market for that kind of gameplay. We can barely scratch the surface of this with the civilian outfits you offer now, but why have Risa without swimsuits? Why have Andor without snow gear (this is a slightly resolved matter, courtesy of the Winter Wonderland, so take it in perspective). Heck, desert survival gear for Vulcan. Even if these are done as Z-store based items, trust me, there will be interest in them. The RP community here is large enough that come hell, high water, or a dilithium market crash, we'll get those suits one way or another. The Zen will flow!!
1) fix the lag
2) do something about the latency
3) teach the server to communicate so that he is responding ;-)
4) the stuttering is unbearable most of the time
5) did i mention the lag? yes i did, sorry
1) Stop the keebler elf assimilation of the romulans and give a choice RR or selas RSE
Thats about it for me on changes i mean after level 50 who cares if your in the RSE or not PvP? you could still hold the alliance your in while serving the RSE.
It would be more advantagous to sela to try and get the feds or klinks on her side then to war with them and as any romulan knows if something presents itself as an advatage exploit it.
Romulans have always had alterior motives for everything they do so why now all of a sudden the romulans are supposed to go legit?
hardly i say turn the romulans back into romulans they are not bajorans
1) Get rid of lockbox ships and mass ban all owners of lockbox ships so we don't have their types in the game, only leads to elitism and more discrimination.
1. Eliminate ALL bugs (and with that I don't mean the JHAS or any creatures !!!)
2. Muuuch more exploration and "adventure"-like stuff -> meaning problem solving in different ways than pew-pew and with much more unique encounters such as "Armus" (TNG - Skin of Evil) or Echo Papa 607 (TNG - The Arsenal of Freedom) for example.
3. Muuuch more interactivity with/in your ship/bridge/interiors and with your crew.
4. Muuuch bigger universe without (or at least with less) borders and much more planets and stations to visit -> esp. the famous ones like Betazed, Trill, Tellar Prime, Ferenginar, ...
5. Muuuch more Voiceovers.
"We might get pretty singed at that range, but not as singed as they're going to get. Engage."
- Captain Six of Nine aka Ashley "Don't Call Me Ash" Campbell
1) Simplfy how damage is dealt and modified and how defence and resistance is calculated. It should not be X = y(C)\5 to the root of x/ +what phase the moon is in. The system is way to complicated and is not explained anywhere by the people that designed it. just look at how 1 change to one small aspect of one piece of equipmet can break the whole game. The current system is a house of cards that collapses constantly. Everytime a new weapon or gear is released it dosent work correctly. Its either useless and does not do what it is suppose to or is OP broken, (just look at elite fleet shields or the tier 4 rep shield regen when it 1st came out)
2) Testing, Testing, Testing. Nothing get tested before it goes live. And if it is on Tribble and found to be broken they still release it live without fixing it.
3)Have the Devs actually play the game, or listen to the players. Example: (players) The Borg have one shot invistorps, (Devs) No they dont. (Players) Tau Dewa red alert is broken. (Devs) No its not.
4) Make crafting something in the game that you actually want to do. And if you want really rare and powerful gear you have to do.
5)This one is easy and pretty much already in place. For players that want exploration. The system patrols are already in game. Make monthy scavenger hunt like missions where you have to go looking in each system doing the patrols in each sector collecting certian drops that lead you to a VR item. Like XII purple consoles or Lobi or something. All they have to do is hide one in one of the patrol systems and leave hints (that you get after finishing a patrol mission) as to where it might be. Make it random and have it reset every few hours like the Doff missions do.
1. Eliminate the auto-mute chat ban so people can't "grief" others with it.
2. Make more open PvP zones. Tons of unused planets on the map that can be set up for it.
3. Allow for certain costume combos. I should be able to have my Orion chick wear boots with her "skirt" outfit, and my Klingons to wear their sashes over their armor. It was initially like that when the outfits were 1st implemented...and then Crtptic "fixed" it. Why do that? Seriously, why did you guys do that? Changing it served NO purpose. Same with certain Fed boots that used to be bulky tall. You cut them down for NO reason. You should have just made a 3rd option instead of changing it so they make the pants look like they're wrapped around the shin just to fit in the cut off boots. Just a ridiculous decision.
4. Have some GMs at ESD. Debate is fine - open minds can discuss differences respectfully. But that doesn't always happen. People get bullied, and anything that offends the pseudo-intellectuals results in horrendous and intentional berating of people for their beliefs or opinions.
5. **I realize this is totally unrealistic and near impossible to impliment**
Have a 24- 48hr PvP/PvE que waiting period for people - mostly Fed players - who intentionally leave PvP just because they are losing. The irony that the "hero" faction is almost always the first to bolt from a match, which is exactly why I don't do Fed PvP except with people I know.
1. I open a lot of Lock Box and got no ship and even now the Tal Shiar Lock Box I open 30 of them and no ship that so f up but there need two go the Lock Box no one that I now like them gos no of my m8s on STO get a ships not even ones from them Lock Box so plz stop doing the Lock Box
2. a lot more Bridge packs and KDF need more and Legacy of Romulus so need Bridge not just one all of the Bridge need two be the some at the ship if the ship big the Bridge is big
3. lifetime subscription get two do a alot more then 8k Dili day and we as lifetime subscription need more new suff that just for lifetime subscription and we need a lot more Exclusive costume option not just one gos thet be cool
4. more suff for Fleet and Fleet Base and cool Fleet Clothing
5. new lvls that go 50+ and a new Server that just for STO
1 ban all players that AFK exploit in foundry
2 make PVP teams like STF and other Fleet actions where they can't quit team
3 more costumes for KDF and Romulan factions
4 start omega reputation at 40
5 revamp crafting

From Taddy21
I agree on more refine dilithium amount for life time subs also get discount on lock box keys
1. Rebuild the rank and levelling system, and use rank more appropriate to canon. In addition, slow down the levelling process. I just levelled a character to the level cap in under 30 hours. A new player wouldn't be able to do it nearly as fast, but its still happens far to quickly.
2. More uniform and clothing options for KDF players, specificly Klingons.
3. Escort type ships should not be the dominant vessle type in the game. It doesn't fit, it doesn't make sense. Cruisers (the big ships) shoud always be THE ship a captain wants to get into.
4. EIther dump crafting entirely, or rebuild it from scratch. Turn it into a DOFF activity that takes materials and time.
5. Censure the overly vocal portion of the Federation player community that has complained about the KDF players complaining how how very little thier faction has recieved over the last 3 years. This is a game, and fair and equal treatment of factions improves the game experience for everyone.
There is much much more. but for now, this will do.
3: More Featured Episodes / high quality (could include some puzzles and strategies) with different Trek (and non trek ... ) [voice] actors
4: Scrap the rear admiral and VA rank, replace RA with Commodore (and perhaps add reputation in which your officers can fly their own ships, of which you can bring in when your being attacked)
5: Each Faction, and of each separated into 3, has faction+class unique abilities for both space and ground.
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.
#1 Pure exploration into unknown space
#2 No boundaries in sector space
#3 Any and all major species in Star Trek playable
#4 All FOUR QUADRANTS
#5 The ability to make my own starship from scratch
#6 Able to choose my own character voice
#7 No Enemy ships seen at ESD
#8 Uniform customization of crew on board starship
#9 Mini-missions on board my starship ie; "bottle episodes", stop warp core, climb through jefferies tubes to repair something, stop a non-humanoid alien intruder etc.
#10 Meet more heroes of Star Trek in game like Tuvok, Admiral Riker, the Doctor etc.
#11 Visit museum ships like Voyager and the Enterprise-A with full scaled interiors.
#12 "Foundry Planet" concept. Players add and make mission for alien worlds where we can all go and roam and find the missions randomly on this planet.
#13 Slipstream should more rare to use and to have.
#14 Crafting without dilithium
#15 Historical Holodeck missions like last battle in Star Trek VI, sector 001 battle and Wolf 359 battles etc
thats all my magic wand has for now...
Q: [quoting Hartley] "Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays..."
1: Restore the _optional_ shoulder-cam view setting that worked just fine before the update, with the exception of actually fixing the setting-no-save bug like we wanted you to do in the first place.
2: When I sell Zen for Dilithium, it shouldn't be taking it out of my personal balance when I have plenty of Zen already on deposit with the exchange.
3: Make my Exocomp pet (and ship pets) move more randomly on their own, with variable speed, so they don't look/behave so clumsily.
4: Full tailor options for all of my bridge crew, that I enjoy for myself, as well as being able to set default tac/eng/sci uniforms for my duty officers that populate my ship, in the same ratios that my duty officer roster has. (civilians, of course, use whatever uniform they come with, and prisoners never seen, as they are assumed to be in the brig, and if I have any injured duty officers at the time, when I walk into sick bay, go ahead and show them in the beds)
5: The ability to have at least one of my bridge officers accompany me, everywhere I can beam down, like the fleet base, academy, ESD, other people's bridges, etc, AND, be able to adjust how close or far apart they stand next to me. No reason to walk with me in a tactical formation when we're socializing with other fleet members at the base. (and fix the now-broken walk, while you're at it. Until recently, my escorts would, after a brief stumble, walk at the same pace I would. Now they fitfully shuffle along. )
5-PS: After all... why bother going to all the trouble of getting your bridge officers uniformed and looking sharp, looking like your crew, if you can't show them off from time to time?
2. At least 1 end-game raid. It would be at least 10man, it would have a progression system where you kill 1boss and then you can go to the next one and each boss would give you unique gear/lobis etc.
3. Change the fact that cruisers and sci ships are almost useless because this is an "Escort Online" game. Do whatever, just do it !
4. Try not to place everything into PvE Qs... This eliminates the social part of a group gathering and planning.
5. Redesign ship interior! Give us missions, crew interaction, more detailed ship environment etc.
6. And make a tactical team only available to escorts. Where escorts would just pop Tac team, engis and Sci ships would not have it, but they would have much more powerful shields (with less shield regen) so that they would actually have to think about positioning... where escorts would have the luxury of staying on their target with their noses front (whoever played Star Trek Bridge Commander knows that this type of combat would be waaaay more interesting)

I +++++++++++++++++++ 1 all this
system Lord Baal is dead
These need to happen NOW!
You made us mad with the Romulan Republic now is your time to fix it
2) Reset some of the mission series to run parallel to one another as your character levels.
2. a lot more Bridge packs and KDF need more and Legacy of Romulus so need Bridge not just one all of the Bridge need two be the some at the ship if the ship big the Bridge is big
3. lifetime subscription get two do a alot more then 8k Dili day and we as lifetime subscription need more new suff that just for lifetime subscription and we need a lot more Exclusive costume option not just one gos thet be cool
4. more suff for Fleet and Fleet Base and cool Fleet Clothing
5. new lvls that go 50+ and a new Server that just for STO
From Taddy21
2 make PVP teams like STF and other Fleet actions where they can't quit team
3 more costumes for KDF and Romulan factions
4 start omega reputation at 40
5 revamp crafting
2, for the Klingon community to stop ******** like children every time Feds get to use one of there toys.
3, to be able to choose between dilithium and EC as a reward on some STF missions.
4, for dan stahl to answers all questions submitted in the monthly ask cryptic.
5, for all weapon types to have a special quad cannon (still only being able to equip one at a time)
1: More lasting battle damage
2: Stun setting + revamped missions to compensate
3: More Featured Episodes / high quality (could include some puzzles and strategies) with different Trek (and non trek ... ) [voice] actors
4: Scrap the rear admiral and VA rank, replace RA with Commodore (and perhaps add reputation in which your officers can fly their own ships, of which you can bring in when your being attacked)
5: Each Faction, and of each separated into 3, has faction+class unique abilities for both space and ground.
I hope STO get's better ...
-- Smoov
