Well, there are still some problems in the form of odd bugs, but what concerns me more is the server stability. Let's not kid ourselves here, on the 21st of May, the Server(s?) will die horribly. It happened with all major releases and this one has got to be the biggest and most anticipated so far. But there is always hope I guess !
Seriously, can't wait! We've been pouring our lives and souls into this expansion (as we do with all our work), and the world will finally see it
Yeah, uh, about that - the servers barely work ever since Neverwinter went into beta, the lag is unbearable and it'll only get worse with people pouring in to see the STO expansion - any steps taken in that regard to minimize the problem? Because I do agree that the expansion is gonna be great content-wise, but honestly I'd like to be able to play it without launch issues for a change... And even as I'm writing this I can't play neither on holodeck nor on tribble properly because of some strange lags, and I see people on differenet chats complaining about them as well. I'm scarred to even thing how it'll look like in a week...
Seriously, can't wait! We've been pouring our lives and souls into this expansion (as we do with all our work), and the world will finally see it. It's a truly magical moment, and something that I think will redefine STO.

i hope your right, because the more people get excited the more im convinced something will go wrong and shatter the illusion of a good time. cant help the negativity as ive seen this too often.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I was in close and open beta, and played the mission about three or four times, still looking forward to LoR.
At the conclusion of open beta, I got to 20 and I said to myself.. "self, do not proceed further unless you want to ruin the suspense." So I stopped and now waiting on pins and needles.
Now the depressed point, I wont be home that week and have to wait till the weekend, Argh!, but at least its Memorial Day weekend and I'll have three straight days.
Looking forward to making my Romulan characters, I beta tested and enjoyed what I saw, I wont be in a rush to start leveling though, I will most likely make the character and start the leveling a few days later.
Mixed feelings. I'm looking forward to running through the Romulan side of things, but I'm not overly enthused over grinding a new character through the rep systems.
I was fortunate with my fed and kdf tac officers, and my engineer with having plenty of marks for Omega rep, but not actually needing anything from it, leaving just Romulan rep.
My baby sci though, I didn't get into STFs prior to the change (burned out at the time) and grinding her through has been a tedious exercise. Having to do it all again, and helping build a new starbase and embassy from scratch.... ugh.
On the positive side, I'm quite happy with the amount of content and updates they're adding.
Exactly this.

Mostly excited about the texture changes, mostly fearing the mountain of bugs that are still in the update, the server meltdowns, and all the other problems that will be ignored because Season 9 will be bigger THAN ANYTHING EVER. Headlines are more important than game stability is what we see.
I'm excited that I'll finally be able to play as a Romulan and fly in my own shiny D'deridex, but I'm hugely disappointed with the terrible, TERRIBLE storyline and that what was promised to be a Romulan faction turned out to be a group of mercenaries working for the KDF/Federation.

Strange, if you keep an open mind, the storyline is extremely enjoyable, far more than the Fed storyline.
Ofc, if you don't keep an open mind, and stop at "we need to find an ally ! urgh!" it suck.
Also, the Romulan were allied to the Klingons before Khitomer. Do you think they were mere mercenaries ? They probably helped each other however.
Also, for the 30first level, at the very least, you don't work for your ally, but for the Romulan, using your ally to get it done (as a Romulan would do). Then you share missions, the same missions also shared between fed and KDF.
I don't like having to share the starbase/fleet, or fighting each others in pvp. However, everything else is fine IMO.

I for one, am eagerly waiting for LoR.
Well, speaking for myself-I have enjoyed the Federation and KDF storylines much more than the Romulan one. While the Romulan storyline clearly has better production values, It completely fails to grasp the essense of what made the Romulan Star Empire from the shows so fascinating in a manner while the KDF and Fed whatever their own storyline faults manage to do despite their other failings. Also, the storyline can be really heavy handed in the morality department and in telegraphing who you are supposed to root for in a manner that would feel out of place in a Fed mission....but coming from a Romulan one.

I agree... and thats great.
The Romulan Star Empire is dead... Half the Romulan population is dead, and the species is scattered into fractures and hurt clusters.
And the story turns out great because of this, and it tells a great story.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
I am so amped for this. I tested up to level 8 on a Rommie on the Tribble Test Server. I'm going to be buying the Starter Pack, and I even have a history mapped out for my Romulan.
So looking forward to this.. so much....

that new romulan ship they just added, its fugly! wont see myself buying that thing any time soon if ever.
anyway, may give the attitude towards LoR a think over and perhaps see if there should be some hope. perhaps unfairly overly critical of LoR when i should not of been...

Well it's not pretty... that's for sure.
BTW, I have a FED - Targ Pup too... Maybe yours and mine can play one day.

Help me out. When did the devs promise a Romulan faction?

I'm excited but still disappointed that we have to pick an ally and that our player base is split without our own fleets or pvp, but it is what it is.
Like the Romulan Alliance System? Of course you do, it sounds fine to you because you aren't Romulans, you're FED or KDF who are going to make a Romulan alt, it makes a HUGE difference in perspective.

Unless you do a male and female character for each profession and alliegence. That would work out at 12.
I think.
And that's just the start..... imagine more characters for each hair and eye color and each combination of the two..... MADNESS !:o:D
Nice and wise words there.
I'm excited too, and can't wait.
..so get back to work!

Not if you have already played it on tribble. Will take me mere seconds to copy it over
Now, actually getting on ok and the servers staying up for more than 24 hours, that's a different story
