If only you could file a class action against cryptic/pwe... those practices are not tolerated (perhaps it is over there in Asia, BUT THIS IS NOT ASIA!)
There is a storm on the east coast causing havoc w/ the electric & telecom grids.
Comcast has connectivity to parts of the Internet only.
STO players may want to try connecting via a VPN in Europe, if they have access to such a resource. Those pipes may be clogged now too though.
The mains are down, aux power is not responding, we're adrift.
It's kind of like the episode where all the enterprises from parallel universes started showing up. It's not just STO that's intermittantly offline, lots of sites are offline.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Hey Cryptic, any clue when you guys will adjust your hardware to deal with increased loads? Or will these crashes be par for the course when Legacy of Romulus goes live?
Mmmm Carrot Cake, my absolute favourite. Go check it out!
Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
2 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3 cups grated carrots
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup butter, softened
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl, beat together eggs, oil, white sugar and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in carrots. Fold in pecans. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
To Make Frosting: In a medium bowl, combine butter, cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Stir in chopped pecans. Frost the cooled cake.
Brilliantly funny! Bravo!

I'm not going to run around saying that I know the tech behind the problem, or blame it on Neverwinter. I'm willing to take Brandon on his word that STO and Neverwinter do not share a server. It seems to me, that since the Neverwinter beta started the servers have been highly unstable. Then hosting a high server traffic event on each game respectively for this weekend has made it abundantly clear that there is some sort of interrelated issues between the games. If this sort of issue is occurring before the launch of LOR, it should be interesting to see the massive wave of connectivity issues that occurs on the day of launch. Every new season for STO has featured the fun act of fighting through the queues, but this season I think is going to a new high point for connectivity frustrations.
I know what WILL be done.. Cryptic knows too.. customers will not put up with constant and annoying down time.. regardless of how good something is, its no good if you cant use it, and people will leave.. Cryptic knows this.. i'm certain they're working on a solution..
A solution that requires a minimal expense obviously. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and UPGRADE your equipment to meet demand. This TRIBBLE has happened, what, EVERY new season? So its obvious Cryptic either does not want/desire to spend income maintaining and boosting their infrastructure to meet the player base, so, hence you do have an influx of new players...and you have an amount of leaving customers.
Guess this explains the low population for a single shard (server) game.
I downloaded STO and patched Holodeck. I was able to log into Holodeck with no problems. Then I shut down, relaunch, and patch Tribble. The launcher freezes at one point, so I try to relaunch, and it won't.
I tried reinstalling, and I get the exact same series of circumstances.
I tried replacing the launcher with the one from http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=7359681&postcount=1, but it doesn't fix the problem at all. Any help? I'd like to get in for this test weekend. I was trying to do it before Mother's Day, but that isn't looking promising anymore.
Seems cryptic is digging their own grave before the LOR release with these outages. Hate to see what's gonna happen on May 21st, since the game is well known for crashing on big release dates. So seeing them having issues a week and a half before the release is concerning. lol
5:15 pm eastern time tried logging into STO and it wouldn't load the launcher, my internet connection is fine, i have no IP blockers active, and i can log onto just about everything else i have.. just curious if this problem is still active

I can actually see it as I remember watching Benny Hill as a kid. Now I wonder which one is Benny:D
