Soo ... a Fleet gets stolen along with it's Starbase (Starbase = monetary investment by the players) and Cryptic does ... nothing to the offender . (AFAIK)
Dilithium get's "stolen" via an exploit and Cryptic waves the Ban Hammer .
This translates into : when it's YOUR MONEY , Cryptic does not give a #$%^ .
When it's THEIR MONEY , Gecko get's reports every few hours on the subject , and is really "upset" .
YEAH ... .
I think Geko was very clear there.
If Cryptic believed the co-leader's account was TRIBBLE, they would have restored the fleet. They looked at IP addresses, Mac addresses, etc. Geko personally looked into this one. They did not restore the fleet. He admitted some geniuses may be able to fake everything...
But, come on. I think we all know what happened to Caspian at this point. I have no clue why. I thought we were all on pretty good terms. But Geko, diplomatically and within the limits of what he can say in his position, spelled out what happened.
Frankly, Geko is the one with something to lose by this kind of issue happening. So I trust Geko more than I trust... someone else who shall not be named.
"Firstly, there is no evidence that the ship in "Balance of Terror" or even all Romulan ships until then didn't have warp drive. The myth came to life because of a line in TOS: "Balance of Terror" about the Romulans having "simple impulse" although this statement by Scotty could be easily interpreted differently. But as a consequence, the Star Trek Chronology explicitly states that Romulan ships during the Earth-Romulan War had impulse propulsion only, seemingly corroborated by a depiction of a primitive-looking Romulan ship of that time which is completely non-canon though. In "Star Trek: Insurrection" it was attempted to carry the error into canon Trek with a mention of warp drive that "helped to form a bunch of Romulan thugs into an empire... a century ago". However, a thorough analysis of the topic of Warp Drive and Romulan History shows countless lines of reasoning against this notion, and at last ENT: "Minefield" unmistakably shows old Romulan ships with warp drive."
Also keep in mind, you could always interpret that as meaning it turned a literal group of Romulan thugs into a second Empire.
listening to it now... for 2 hours 30 minutes lol... still at it...
Geko speaks about "Mudflation"... If he buffs Cruisers and Sci ships then the enemies become to weak and need to be buffed... then everybody would be whining about the Borg hitting harder etc.
i DO NOT agree here.
everyone i speak to in the game is saying that enemy NPC ships are already too weak, there has been plenty of Powercreep over time and the only challenging content these days are Into the Hive and No Win Scenario (and people are even posting speed runs about that one now...?! )
So nope, i think what would happen is that people would rejoice about more challenging content... but... if it is more challenging / taking longer it also needs to pay out a bit more dilithium.
Sooo... simple solution: ADD Elite Versions of the current PvE maps, ALL PvE maps, not just the STFs and then on top of it add real hard INSANE versions for the uber top Players that are still bored with Elite mode ...i am certainly bored with EliteSTFs being so fast and easy (Donatra isn't a challenge anymore, that Assimilated Cruiser in CSE isn't even doing anything really to hurt the players... that thing should be a huge boss battle but... meh, spacebar, autofire, wait, done).
And in addition: i like the Paladin Aura idea for Cruisers A LOT more than the Armor Slot idea,
in PvP nobody is shooting at the Cruisers, because they don't die anyway.
Turning a Rock into a Stone won't make them start shooting at it and at this point it doesn't matter how much shield or hullstrength i have if i can't utilize it.
I'd much rather had some more PEW on my Cruisers... (imho Armitage is the perfect layout for me, lots of pew and tanky enough for pretty much everything).
Same with NPC's even with maxed Threat Control i can not pull the aggro of NPC ships, because there is always some PvP Escort Hero that used that same skill for the tiny defense bonus or what it was that it had extra... on top of his threat through his amount of pew...
So i'm a Tank and nobody is shooting at me, awesome, i feel useless.
Trying to heal others... not a huge benefit of that class because everybody has healing powers... and everybody can run high aux and go for hull tanking instead of high shield power...
so yepp that Paladin Aura thing really sounds cool to me, because then everybody wants me around in my low DPS cruiser so they can do more damage. add a passive AoE heal to that and WIN, i'm a Support Cruiser and finally have a role to fill. (just don't do any of these silly bubble effects around my ship...that looks so bad on the Vesta for example when that odd BALL appears around it, i always go out of range of that ship because of the visual griefing)

What Geko was talking about there was the idea that all the content would need to increased just to bring it to its current levels. It would effectively require many man-hours just to bring the existing content to the same level, let alone make it more challenging.
Sooo... simple solution: ADD Elite Versions of the current PvE maps, ALL PvE maps, not just the STFs and then on top of it add real hard INSANE versions for the uber top players that are still bored with this or just want that extra dil at the end.
The simple solution is just to weaken Escorts back to what they used to be.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

YUP !!!
But thats not likely to happen to c-store or lockbox escorts.

well thats not as easy as it sounds...
because they became so beafy only when Tactical Team was updated to re-direct shields so fast -> and that one is used by EVERYONE now, even Cruisers rely on it.
So if you take that away you are hurting everyone.
reducing shields and hull that players bought via C-Store and Fleet Stores? can't do that either without lots of (valid!) rage.
can't sell me something because its better and then take away what i paid for!
Then you should not have sold it to me in the first place.

Or they can simply just weaken Tac Team back to where it was. Then Cruisers can rely on other systems to survive.

like all the stuff that they nerfed before that made cruisers viable? (RSP...)
also won't change that nobody is shooting at my Cruiser because it won't die anyway, unless you get a lucky crit shot between tanking cooldowns in there.
anyway, reversing old changes will just bring back old problems that existed before these changes...

When you reduce Tac Team for everyone that makes Cruiser's do more viable damage as well. The super Tac Team isn't bouncing all the Cruiser's potential damage. Weakening Tac Team makes damage better for all ship classes.

This has been my sentiment for awhile, which was why I pitched it to him during the interview.
Not sure I would go so far as to produce a passive AoE heal (like a HoT). Added damage resistance aura as an option, similar to some of the engineering consoles. Adding value without automating certain functions would be my goal.
EDIT: One mechanic I've seen in some recent games is the use of a 'taunt' ability that will give the target a debuff where they only do X% of their normal damage unless they're targeting the entity that fired off the 'taunt'. It works in both PvE and PvP scenarios and would add more of that value to Cruisers, or anyone that wanted to 'tank'.
Whenever the code allows an "Exploit" it's our fault not only for using the "Exploit" but also it would seem we are responsible for it having been written that way in the first place, that would be like Ford Blaming the Customer if the Factory didn't Weld a piece it was supposed to.
I understand if they'd come out and say hey we wrote this horrible loop hole please don't use it while we fix it. It was never intended for X mission to be repeatable so quickly or to reward xx amount of xx commodity.
No instead a dev goes on a podcast and says you thieves are all getting banned.
does this seem right?
if I must Claim Responsibility for what i do, then why can't the guy who wrote the loop hole into the code take his responibility?
Don't take advantage of an exploit, and you won't have problems...when you see an exploit you're suppose to report it and move on....not use it till they fix it.
I agree, and what if someone doesn't even know if they are a8using something, may8e they think its just the true mechanics of the game, and then suddenly they are 8anned for no reason?

Give me break. When you get 30,000 Dilithium for something you know is only supposed to give you 480 you clearly know you're abusing an exploit.

They know they are exploiting it, you don't just fall into it, you have to go out of your way to do it.
I am pretty sure the peeps who got millions of dilithium within a few days. knew full well that it was taking the proverbial.
It has also been well documented that previous types of these exploits were not allowed.
If you did take part, and I am not talking about doing it once or twice here. Then you took your chance and lost....

Well, now I feel bad for using the Adapted M.A.C.O. Phaser Pulsewave Rifle and human bridge officers.
Give me break. When you get 30,000 Dilithium for something you know is only supposed to give you 480 you clearly know you're abusing an exploit.
Just speaking about rewards, is it listed anywhere what the dilithium per minute rate of a foundry mission is supposed to be? I'm pretty sure I've never seen it, so I can only guess based on the foundry missions I have done. But you see, I can't do that either, since foundry rewards aren't based on my play time, they are based on the average of the play time of everyone before me. So, while 30,000 from one mission might seem out of line, I wouldn't really know, would I? Just talking in general about foundry mission rewards.
On the subject of the Foundry expliot. Since I have done a few foundry missions for dil, and still don't know what anyone is talking about (I know there is/was an exploit, but what it is exactly or how to replicate it is still a mystery), it clearly isn't something that can just be fallen into.
If you actively seek something out, you really are going to have to be ready for those consequences and the reality that you may not like them.
Captains, may I point out that any and all discussion of exploits is being met with a wary eye and a hand on the banhammer?
Please cease and desist discussing it in any way, shape, or form. Especially do not discuss the mechanics of it.
I'm not threatening. I'm saying this because I'd hate for folks to get banned from the forums when it could be avoided by simply not talking about it.

How do you know what a mission will reward until it rewards it in the foundry?
i have played missions that took an hour for me but since a bunch of people got through it in 30 minutes it only gave me 320 dil. another mission that took me 30 minutes but others stretched the average to 1-2 hours it rewarded 1440.
so clearly stretching the average time is also an exploit and an exploit is an exploit.
Maybe dilithium rewards in the foundry sould be a flat 480 regardless of time in mission or none at all.

This is more complicated than that. Nobody will do this on that scale accidentally.
I know what it is after talking to some people who confirmed some suspicions. Actually, somebody started to tell me and, five words in, I figured it out.
I won't discuss what it is. It will get you banned. Better to drop it. Playing any one standard Foundry mission will not get you in trouble. This is a trickier exploit than that and a coordinated effort that nobody will do accidentally.

I guess you can have that discussion with your attorney when you try and sue Cryptic for kicking you off your account.
