A really neat thing is, updated versions of the T'liss (the TOS Romulan warbird) are in there for most tiers! That is awesome to me, I'm going to spend a lot of Zen on those.

What you're seeing are placeholder costumes on ships that are not complete -- the TOS Warbird is a T1 ship only.

That's a horrible, horrible tease... is the TOS version an unlocked costume at least on the t5 refit/retrofit etc?

I'm fairly certain it's not, for reasons I'm sure you can guess :)

Edit: I think it ended up being the placeholder because it was the first playable Warbird we made for the new faction.

So what's the reason we have to guess? Cause the "updated" model is just the Warbird from Enterprise, which technically is even older. And have you seen the DBB/DHC hardpoints at the front of the nacelles on that thing? Looks absolutly stupid and the TOS Warbird at least comes with proper hardpoints.

I assume you mean the whole connie debate.

dstahl did mention on a podcast that there would be a tier 5 version. maybe he was getting mixed up with the ENT one (which we know we do have).

Why does this have "MONEYGRAB" written all over it? The thing is not even out yet.

In normal economics, decent products get decent revenue. You deliver something good, you get good money in return.

Buy it as a pre-order bundle, get a 30% discount. Buy it individually in the C-Store later, get no discount. Seems simple.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

As the Devil's Advocate, I'd like to point out your statement is not entirely true, from a certain point of view... LTS Accounts, in fact all Gold Members, get a 500 Zen monthly stipend that they can use to make C-Store purchases. Some might consider that "free" C-Store items. :P

Not to mention, LTS (and Veterans over a certain number of days) get a number of VA ships for free that are otherwise C-store only. This includes the Galaxy, Intrepid and Defiant retrofits on the fed side and an equal selection of (most people agree better) ships on KDF: Karfi, Marauder, Brel retrofit, Veranus, maybe others.

Just FYI, the T5 ship included in the starter pack is indeed a RA ship. VA ships are things like the Assault Cruiser and Star Cruiser - 9 console slots, with no special console, given out when you hit RA or bought with dilithium from the ship vendor. The Retrofits of the Galaxy/Defiant/Voyager, the Multi-vector escort, or the Regent class refit, that each include an exclusive console and cost 2000 Zen (or given out free if you have the 300-day vet reward) are RA ships; the one in the starter pack falls into this category and is priced accordingly.

You are thinking of the 2500 Zen 10-console ships like the Odyssey, Vesta, and lockbox ships. They are also VA ships, but are the equivalent of Fleet ships rather than the ones above. Even if you get the bundle, you will probably be able to buy a 10-console fleet version of the ship for 500 Zen extra later and make use of the special console.

Only the 3-pack 2500/5000-for-3 zen ships are 10 console. Other 2500 zen ships (which is in fact any VA ship except the VA retrofits that they used to give out free: Atrox, armitage, and regent for example) are also only 9 consoles. This means that all 4 of the the t5 ships in the legacy pack will be 9 consoles.

Also, they confirmed that the fleet versions will be available at launch, the fleet versions don't have the special console (but can use it), and that you do get the discount for owning the original c-store one.

Wish I had that faith....I can't throw money like that till I get more information.

I think its important to say that not everyone is playing for optimization. This is why sometimes we go into elite STFs and it takes more than 6 minutes, because people are flying ships that they LIKE and don't focus on the stats as much.

This is why people will fly the D'Deridex retrofit, even if it comes out with the current placeholder stats putting it alongside the Galaxy and Neg'var retrofits in terms of BOff slots.
(Which, since its a t4, 24th century cruiser retrofit, it has every right to have)

If you compare to the C-store, this is a good deal.
If you compare to the average Expansion pack, then this is robbery.
Highest expansionpack I ever bought was for 50 euro, nowdays its mostly 29-39 euro.

This expansionpack costs 125 dollar a.k.a 119 euro.. must be the worlds most expansive Expansion pack ever created for PC. Someone call Guinness World Records.

Though I am probably going to spend 119 euro on this.. because I can.. but overall this is a bad strategy for Perfect World. If they put down the price to 60-70 dollars, then they would get more sales.
Everything over 100 euro / dollar creates caution then instent buy.

Thing is this is not an expansion pack. You need none of it to play the new faction.

Also the keys would just wind up getting disposed of (I do not open lock boxes)

Europeans pay a VAT fee on top of the base fee - generally around 20%. That fee is demanded by and paid to your government. If you don't like VAT then take it up with your government. Outsiders can't change your laws. You can only do that yourselves - generally through elections.

I am tempted by the pack but the terrible exchange from usd > euro > sterling is a deal breaker.

More purchasing options for the rest of the world please.

    From the FAQ:
Q: How long will these packs be available for?
A: We currently do not have plans to remove this pack for purchase, but their current pricing is available for a limited-time only. Once we have a date solidified for when the pricing will adjust, we'll be sure to communicate it.

    That's all anyone knows.

but also even getting Zen from sterling, the transfer costs actually totals ( I usually get 3000) to another 500 zen!

Well that would be ok if my country's VAT was 20% but it's only 8%. I guess the difference goes to Cryptic instead? Nice deal...

    NERDRAGE. j/k :)

Well, here's hoping they at least look like clear derivatives of the T'liss. 'cause I'd take joy in that, too. Otherwise I'll fly D'Deridex like all the TNG Johnny-come-latelys. :)

Preorders of the Samsung Galaxy S4 are already sold out. I've got several video game preorders currently outstanding. The entire Kickstarter system is essentially preorders funding everything from hardware to software to services. Economics moves on; there was a time when people were complaining that currency was a ripoff, that in "normal economics", you trade chickens, and get good bread in return.

"moneygrab" has been redefined as "anything I don't want to buy" in these forums lately. It's unfortunate when useful terms are blurred like that.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a KDF Starter Pack getting released soon too.

It'd be interesting to see if this actually happens. It might even confirm a few suspicions.

To me the bundle isn't as appealing since I've farmed Dil for so long it's crazy. I'll just buy the 4 ships I want instead of the 4 I want an the 4 I don't.

That being said I would think a couple things would make it more enticing:

    - 4 Fleet Support Modules instead of Lockbox Keys.
    - Service Bundle for one Romulan Character on the account. I don't know if this is possible but having the option to get this along with a set of Bank/Account Bank/Inventory slots (or some combo of those) and/or BOFF/DOFF slots (or again some combo) would make this infinitely more appealing.

As it stands I'll just wait for a ship sale...

On another subject. TOS Warbird. I get that it's meant to be stupid old but still I'd rather have seen maybe a Romulan Science Vessel or scout vessel from TNG instead. The TOS Warbird would have been a great way to encourage people to grab the TOS bundle even for their Romulan if Feds got a Connie, Roms the Warbird and it should also be updated with a KDF option like a D7 or something.

Though based on what I've played so far I'm assuming the TOS Romulan uniforms unlock as part of the Devidian Series rewards system.
