There are indications that "not season 8" has parts that are preparing for the next step, but I wouldn expect it to show up right away... maybe "more season 8" will have it...
Untill then... Lets hope for more missions.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Why do you need a higher promotion? The only thing higher is fleet admiral, and you're not going to have your game turned into an RTS where you can control multiple ships.
As-is, it's sad that such a high portion of starfleet personnel have achieved vice admiral rank, we've got a serious case of too many leaders and not enough followers here.

I choose to only show Captain on my uniforms. Might show VA during diplomatic events.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

When you consider boffs and doffs, it's not that bad. But there is a serious lack of captains.
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev

Every player exists in their own little environment. It's not that there's a million VAs in the game. You, and a few others you work with, just happen to be VAs. Everyone else is really outside of your own story. Just like when you do an FE you're the one doing it. Not you and 1 million other players all at the same time. MMOs require a bit of disbelief. Without it there's no way to justify why 50 ships are sitting outside your Fleet base.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
I dont think we will have a higher rank in season 8, and i dont want there to be. I mean we already have thousands of VA's in maco and omega armor shooting down enemies, and commanding only 1 ship at a time.
We need Admiral content to be considered as Admirals. Admirals control more than one ship and being able to promote bridge officers to captain to control your old ships to go on missions like duty officer assignments and help you fight in combat would be Admiral content.

That right there is what we need. A command and control system similar to the ground missions and your own away team, except you would have 5 starships instead of 5 BOFFs.
Isnt there supposed to be 'Admiral' between 'Vice Admiral' and 'Fleet Admiral' though?
If you look at rank insignia, RALH has 1 block, RAUH has 2 blocks, VA has 3 on the rank insignia.
Admiral Quinn has 5 so I assume he is a Fleet Admiral, so shouldn't 'Admiral' have 4? Maybe Level 55 is Admiral? and Level 60 is Fleet Admiral?
I think they should space them out more than that, let 50-59 be VA, 60-69 be Admiral, then 70-80 be Fleet Admiral.

I can see the computers blowing up all around the world trying to render all of that.

Too late for that. Some people like to be General Martok rather than just a regular Captain. Only reasonable suggestion for this is too let people choose their rank so if a person wants to be called a Captain, then they will be referred to as a Captain rather than Rear Admiral, Upper Half by npcs. Besides future endgame content can always be ignored if it doesn't fit your character.
I stopped showing any ranks higher than Captain. EVERY single Star Trek series has been about a Captain and their crew, and that's where STO should have stopped as well.
Only leaders of Fleets should hold the title 'Admiral' since they actually *do* have influence over more than one starship.

Didn't know fleet leaders could boss me around must have missed that :P
A level cap increase won't do this game any good, you will still end up exactly in the same spot you were in before...grinding dailes/dilithium/fleet marks...a 5 level increase would only last a week or two of leveling...it is a waste of the developers time and resources IMO.
Guys, settle down now. You'll be getting a TON of new ranks very very soon. Because in May most of you will be knocked back alllll the down to Uhlan and have to scramble your way up through to Centurion and Legionaire and Sub-Commander and Commander before ever sniffing Admiral again.

I have always looked at it this way, Star Fleet is a huge organization. The Federation is vast. It is hundreds of worlds each with billions of people spread out over hundreds of light years. You don't really see it in the shows or even the movies but the number of ships needed to patrol the discovered worlds and borders would be astronomical. Especially that any world in the Federation would require there be enough ships to provide a quick and near instance response. Then take into consideration there are colonies and deep space stations which lie in on the fringes as well as exploration ships charting the unknown regions of the galaxy. The ships required to do all of this would be in the millions if not tens of millions. As is true for the other factions in the game. So, in reality, there would be a lot of Admirals throughout Star Fleet in charge of a lot of different things. I do think they need to restructure quests though for the Admiral ranks where you go into them making decisions that an NPC Task Force or Battle Group (Space) or a Battalion or Regiment (Ground) carry out based on your decisions. Make the wrong decision and watch your command go up in flames. The possibilities are immense when you figure in diplomatic ventures, espionage, medical, engineering, etc.
