Been away from the server for a couple of days. So I guess First Contact Day actually ended at 5am pacific time instead of 10am pacific as promoted? I live in the pacific time zone and am also disappointed. Too bad.

About 1 page at this time. There's an interesting USA vs Canada brawl brewing though.
It doesn't get interesting till they start throwing brews at each other...
All this TRIBBLE about whose got more players, doesn't mean a hill of poopie...
Cryptic does it when it's convenient for THEM...
NOT the player base.

I've yet to reap any benefits from the previous server stability maintenance. This game is still laggy now and then. Although it's usually not that bad and seems improved. But the disconnects are still insane. At times I can't even make it into the game. Disconnects me after hitting play with my selected character. Worse though is the disconnects while doing an STF. Have I mentioned how frustrating this is? You know I have and I will continue to do so until server stability is within acceptable levels. And we're not near those levels yet. FIX IT PLEASE!!!

As a UK player I could shout my mouth off about N. America getting it good when it comes to maintenance but that will solve nothing and just offend a bunch of folks. The day Cryptic get their collective asses in order and set up regional servers this silly debate will end and we can shoot each other up in PvP rather than verbal trash talk wars here.
Now I'm curious. What are other players doing to you that has you building such a massive ignore list?
To be fair I used to ignore so many people for idiotic comments about certain nationalities, races etc. Now I just troll comment them back, move maps or turn chat off and have a nice day!
Now I'm curious. What are other players doing to you that has you building such a massive ignore list?
when I see political debates pop up, I go on a mass ignore spree. When I get unsolicited fleet invites, ignore... someone spams challenge map invites, ignore... things like that. Its like a mini game within sto.
i dont want to fight with eanyone but 90% of americans say thay have 51% of players but thay are talking about noth america not the usa but thay dont know that canada is not the usa and there are a lot of players from hear and i think it is an insolt to all canadians to be called usa so please use the right words say the north and central americas not the usa ty and sorry if i afended some one
I was not including the canadians into the us, nor was i saying that north america is just the us. The person or you, dont recall who, said that the main broad main whatever startrek fanbase is from the us, and that is just wrong. it would certainly be better to leave out nations and use timezones, so: doing maintenance in the time set up now, is just a ****up for people from european or asian timezones. so THAT is why i mentioned the idea of using serverrelated patches with different timezones, but that would cost, and like we see from the content and patches, is cryptic like every other company
And, as for the Europe vs. North and Central America player bases, this is exactly why Cryptic should have set up regional servers like every other MMO out there. I do not have anything against foreign players. What bothers me is that there are American players that yell at German, French, Italian, etc. players who choose to speak/type in their own language in zone chat, demanding that they speak English. On top of that, whenever someone gets a Lock Box ship and we get the announcement, the announcement is presented in their native language, as opposed to English.
Long story short, Cryptic could avoid this issue of downtime, and these arguments about player base by simply setting up servers for Europe and Africa, servers for the Americas, and servers for Asia/Oceania.
THIS is what i am referring to all the time. The STFs and Events could link the servers, so that it would be possible to actually see people from other nations in an STF, same goes for pvp. It would mean, that you would have to choose your server / region in the beginning, but who cares? Most of the people speak english in this way, some better some worse (like me **** im tired) But who cares? It would solve lagging because of peak times and problems with patching times
To be fair I used to ignore so many people for idiotic comments about certain nationalities, races etc. Now I just troll comment them back, move maps or turn chat off and have a nice day!
i play STO 1year+ and still dont have anyone on my ignore list
We will be bringing down Star Trek Online tomorrow, Thursday, April 11th, at 5AM PDT (click here to view in your timezone) for maintenance and to apply a new patch. Patch notes can be found here, and we expect this maintenance to last for 5 hours and 30 minutes. The test server may also be unavailable during this time.
Thanks for your patience and understanding,
- The Star Trek Online Team
Wrong time for Maintenance. 5AM PDT is 14PM in my country. I finish with my job at 16PM and I Hardly can wait to come home to play Star trek online and because of your bad timing I have to wait until 19.30PM to login. You give to people of my country a good reason to quit.
From monday to Friday you should do your maintenance a lot before 5AM PDT.
This patch is a joke! What about the bug with tailor? We cannot change outfit! I bought uniform and I can't use it! That's a pretty annoying bug that cryptic devs are not able to fix! What about the bug about sounds in Fleet action?
Cryptic devs are crappy devs! They add lot of stupid features and much bugs on existing things day by day and they are not able to fix any bugs.
I'm sure they're eagerly awaiting your job application, oh great guru of all thing Devvy.

Oh heck, this American will be the first to say that Canada beats the US in beer every day of the week
I have to agree with you there, except for maybe Yuengling Black & Tan :P

cryptic is on a budget and if they had a bigger budget than what they have they would have a seperate server for europe but i think that requires a seperate team to do the patches and network issues related to that server and since the europe hours are ahead of the u.s. hours so it doesnt make much sence to expand the team alot and add a extra server for europe right now. maybe when the team grows they can add the server and have a seperate patch team for europe players but not right now.

cryptic operates on do as little work as possible for maximum gains. In a given week, they do appx 15 minutes of actual real work. Putting up extra international servers would shatter all of that.

Likewise. Simple enough to configure one or more custom tabs to show as little or as much as you want to see in any given situation.
Languages aside - go to someplace like ESD and there is so much (often inane) chatter, emotes, etc going on good luck seeing fleet messages, PMs, etc.
No reason for idiots to get bent out of shape - the tools are there in the game...

Don't believe the lies in this forum. I am NOT an ARC user. I play STO on Steam or not at all.

Though in some cases, maybe it should be. :internetshiftyface:
And yes watching 16 year olds discuss world politics in a MMO chat is the fastest path to becoming disenfranchised with the future.

well you're just not doing it right. I suggest we get the tutorial missions to include a "how to" on use of the ignore feature.

no no no, saying they would have to buy another TI-82 to host the international servers would be being silly.
