So they should do it at a time that would suit Euro-players but would be inconveinient to US players - probably their primary playerbase?
Let's face it, they can't really win - there isn't a time that they CAN take the server(s) down without it upsetting one of the game's demographics.
I doubt the US players are their primary playerbase to be quite honest.
It would be nice if they would vary the maintenance times so Europe doesn't get screwed over every time there's an extended downtime.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
the Europeans don't think about this at all, lets face facts here, the larger Star Trek fan base is in the US, Star Trek in general did worse in other parts of the world, all series and movies, thats just a simple fact, so it stands to reason the user base is also larger in North America than in other parts of the world, get used to it. Canadians and American's are the most hard core dedicated and largest group of trekkers and trekkies period

I'm really not convinced, you might be right but I'm not just going to take your word for it.
Star Trek always was, and still is, very big over in the UK. It's also pretty big in Germany and a number of other European countries.
Europe has double the population of the USA - I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the numbers of players was roughly similar, or the USA has more but the margin isn't hugely significant. I don't know, point is - you don't either. You're just being all "USA! USA! USA!" because that's what your culture is like.
As for most dedicated? You should have seen Star Trek Convention: London. Sold out in a matter of hours, and prices for tickets were extortionate!
Typical, The day i sign up to it it has to go offline for 5 hours!! cx i have a few questions if you are experianced with this can one of you message me please, Thank you
let us all drink redbull and coffee for when the game comes back up
That's a mush bear idea dan da redbull an vodka I been drankin! Prolly inkrees my kill rate or at leest dekrees my die in a turrabul sploshun rate!!

The user you are replying to isnt that smart. he proved that earlier. So considering what he thinks... mhh the main fan base is in the US... well the usa is a big nation (9.161.924 km?), but europe (10.180.000 km?) is too... And we also have a huge fanbase... Although I missed some people at the last convention I went to... BUT, and this is a bug BUT, even if you are right, and 51% of the folks playing are from N. America, for the rest of it, it might be inconvenient for us living in a nation not so great like the usa, that the servers are down when we have time to play. I am for example only able to play more then just 1 hour on mondays and thursdays... so today is a big **** up . And it has nothing to do with childishness, I just stated the fact, that a, you might call it "not so important european and rest of the world server" with a different patching time, woult be nice for 49% of the people playing
This patch is a joke! What about the bug with tailor? We cannot change outfit! I bought uniform and I can't use it! That's a pretty annoying bug that cryptic devs are not able to fix! What about the bug about sounds in Fleet action?
Cryptic devs are crappy devs! They add lot of stupid features and much bugs on existing things day by day and they are not able to fix any bugs.
Be happy to know that it sux for us now, but just think of how it will suck even more when the server crashes a few hours later after we are off to bed. :P
You're just being all "USA! USA! USA!" because that's what your culture is like.
There is a small percentage of us Americans who are in fact, whiney, cocky, spoiled, suburban kids who just get what they want ALL the time. But dude, come on. Nothing he said warranted this kind of response. The servers and devs are here in the US. The biggest player base is here in the US. Personally, I play in the mornings, so every single Thursday, I make plans to do something else because I know maintenance is going on.
Or going up against the terradome alone in a Miranda with Molly Hatchet's "Flirting with Disaster"!

i dont want to fight with eanyone but 90% of americans say thay have 51% of players but thay are talking about noth america not the usa but thay dont know that canada is not the usa and there are a lot of players from hear and i think it is an insolt to all canadians to be called usa so please use the right words say the north and central americas not the usa ty and sorry if i afended some one
Just to clear it up: lets say I have 2 Beams fore and 2 beams aft, And if I have 6 enemies dead ahead, and 6 behind, I loose about 50% of my Weapon power.
But if I have all 12 enemies ahead and none behind. I should loose 25% of my Weapon power, since only half of my weapons are firing. But until the patch I think I could have been loosing the 50% as if I had enemies behind.
if u have 2 beams front and 2 aft, us should broadside
i dont want to fight with eanyone but 90% of americans say thay have 51% of players but thay are talking about noth america not the usa but thay dont know that canada is not the usa and there are a lot of players from hear and i think it is an insolt to all canadians to be called usa so please use the right words say the north and central americas not the usa ty and sorry if i afended some one
really? Canada not part of the USA? omg thank you for clearing that up... I was so confused back in the 2nd grade when I learned all 50 names of the states and Canada wasn't one of them. Where have you been all of my life?!
Seriously, beyond having to translate what you said, I don't have a clue what you're rambling about. 90% of Americans don't say they have 51% of the players because the majority of Americans could give a rats TRIBBLE about this game, I would be shocked if more than 3% of Americans play STO.
Also, you really shouldn't tell people to "use the right words"... just sayin.
Oh I already did that. Solo'd it too. In my miranda. While I was on fire. And being swarmed by angry brazilian wandering spiders. And being chased by a cuban hit squad. Under water. In space. :P

On a side note, does anyone know for sure if the Event Reputation system is one tab, for all events? The way I read it, it sounds as if this rep tab will be used for various events. They're not going to add a 'CE Event' rep tab, and then a 'Winter Wonderland' rep tab, etc. The projects associated with the current event will available during that particular event.
OK, so the reason I'm questioning this is - the blog said to input your shards into the rep system instead of going into your inventory. OK, all good, except that what happens if you don't get all 14 during this event period? You will have an unfinished project, which may then block the next event project?
I assume that they will allow you to cancel, but lose all your inputs, as they did for the winter event starbase projects. But then you won't have your extra shards. I'm thinking of last WW, I have a short stack of 8x10's in my inventory, which I figured would put me ahead of the game for next time if something comes up. If I had input them into a project, I assume I would be losing them now in order to free up the CE event project space.
So... sorry, about the rambling nature... bottom line is I think I'll save the shards until I know I can complete the project before actually slotting the project. That way if something happens and I don't get all 14 shards, at least I won't lose them.

Wow, it's just one day in the week folks (unless they break something). It's not the end of the world...
^ - This.
And, as for the Europe vs. North and Central America player bases, this is exactly why Cryptic should have set up regional servers like every other MMO out there. I do not have anything against foreign players. What bothers me is that there are American players that yell at German, French, Italian, etc. players who choose to speak/type in their own language in zone chat, demanding that they speak English. On top of that, whenever someone gets a Lock Box ship and we get the announcement, the announcement is presented in their native language, as opposed to English.
Long story short, Cryptic could avoid this issue of downtime, and these arguments about player base by simply setting up servers for Europe and Africa, servers for the Americas, and servers for Asia/Oceania.
The rope used to tie my hand behind my back was burned away by the fire.
Damn, I HATE when that happens....just when you think the odds are even, the rope they tied you with burns away!!! Just sayin, they shoulda used titanium cables.

Haven't read through all the pages yet - How many pages are taken up by the standard whining about .eu vs .us on time of maintenance?
About 1 page at this time. There's an interesting USA vs Canada brawl brewing though.

Futher proof that if you are on Earth Space Dock for longer than 5 minutes and haven't put someone on ignore, you aren't doing all you can to win at STO.
