how can they stealth nerf something in a holodeck patch when it isn't even on holodeck yet?

they might put it in so before the plasma flamethrower is out on holodeck so they don't have to deal with it when they do put it on holodeck

Hah. So what you're saying is, because other players are using fail armors/shields.. that the gun is at fault?

If you see someone with a cryo, switch to an Armored EV suit. Solved.

Next someone's going to complain that because _they_ wear armor that doesn't protect from AP, that AP pulsewaves need nerfed.

Agree. Gimping the weapon for PvP only is a cop out, and whining about uber hero suits instead of changing to one to counter a specific threat is just lazy.

of course it's a cop-out, but what do you expect them to do, modify 300+ armors with cold resist when they're already working 6 day work weeks gearing up for may? it's more cost-effective to modify the stats of 2 weapons than countless armors

cryptic isn't blizzard; they don't have a staff of hundreds

Wow, does this patch mean we will now be able to donate to Fleet Projects from Gateway?

If so, this is very welcome news - Gateway had previously been irrelevant to me - as it only had 'view' type functions.

This though would be a great first step! Hopefully doffing will be possible in future too!

So every armor in the game should have cold resist ? If so then every cold weapon would be less effective. If they think the cryo-pulsewave is too effective against live players maybe it's too effective PERIOD.

...but certainly don't make the PvE'rs work harder for their kills, Nooooooo, just gimp the live players.

............milking the cow, TRIBBLE customers over, allowing fleets like starfleet special forces omega divison and thier nub leader contiue on with thier bs, this game is most definatly not run by blizzard and is in fact luck blizz dont jump up make a similar game of its own, if they did this would shut down over night and the pandering to whineing back stabing loser nubs like starfleet special forces omega divison, would end over night. ever see half these issues in any bliz game? matter of fact ever heard of one person getting band from a blizz game for exerciseng the right of free speach? 7 years on wow never happend once. this game suck plain and simple, personaly after the andorian ship and the weapon nerf comeing i will never spend a penny on this game again period and will only play as a time killer until the obliv mmo comes out.

and why shouldn't they? live players have significantly less health than an NPC, so the weapon's damage should only be reduced for PvP

I'm pretty excited about this myself :)

The ability to doff (to some extent (at least the Personal missions)) would be fan-freaking-tastic.

It's good to see regular maintenance is done on the game. Far better than other MMO's and I don't mind a few hours off to have a game functional for the most part for the rest of the time.

I'm working to build a longterm fleet for active players as I, if you want to participate or see what all the fuss in zone chat is about, check out my forum thread in the Starbase One section titled, STO Talent Search. Competition for good players is fierce, don't waste your time in a fleet that's inactive, help me build one that won't be.

You saying the NPC's never carry this weapon ?

Im thinking with this nerf the CRM-200 just became a better weapon.

the cryo pulsewave? no, i don't think any NPCs carry it; the only ones i can think of that might are breen, but they already have the CRM-200, which is deadly enough if you get caught in its cryo wave unprepared

I'm glad just the PvP stats of the Cyro pulsewave have been altered, and I hope this is a growing trend that will eventually divorce PvP and PvE from each other. Whether its been intentional or unintentionally the PvP forums are responsible for getting more things nerfed then they have buffed, and these changes have carried over to PvE. If you guys want to nerf your ships/equipment/ground equipment than by all means do so, but those 10+ page nerf threads shouldn't be affecting PvE players. In the end all PvE players are killing is just AI controlled bits of data. I've never seen a PvE player take out a borg cube, and then insult the cube afterwards in chat and call it a noob.

Anotherwords you're fine with the weapon being overpowered against AI because it's too stupid to effectively fight back and needs monster health to keep it balanced.
