Hi Captains,

Patch notes can be found here, and we expect this maintenance to only last for 2 hours. The test server may also be unavailable during this time.

Patch notes only speaks of MKXII Puslewave, is the normal cryo-puslewave getting the same nerf? Because it would need it also, if not you might have just made the normal one bette than the Mark XII.

The Cryo Pulsewave and its Mk XII upgrade now deal 75% of their previous damage when fired against Players.

    - The Stealth Bonus and Ambush Bonus from having multiple Bridge Officers with Subterfuge does not stack, but the Defense bonus will.

Yes, they said that's the intention, they'll be bringing the Andorian phasers as Mk XII fleet version phasers, but with blue touch. ;)

Exactly, that's why I assumed anyway. They behave just like regular phasers, but with blue touch for more flavour. It shouldn't be much trouble to make elite versions of them.

I am very happy that the cryo pulsewaves were given a very good balancing method, reduced damage to players, but still the same damage to NPCs.

This is a very great idea that lets the developers balance pvp without breaking the good items for all the PVE players (Who still outnumber the pvp ones) .
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

now if they would just do that to everything else in the game, starting with some of the less effective science powers

The Cryo Pulsewave and its Mk XII upgrade now deal 75% of their previous damage when fired against Players.
    - Their damage output against NPCs remains unaltered.

Was about time. Since this change had been announced, there have been even more Cryo-Exploiters than ever before.

Players that have picked up the Virus from their base in Shanty Town will be unable to use Stealth Powers until they get rid of the Virus, or die trying.

Nothing else than a dumb change:
Can you imagine a game that had a Capture The Flag map where the Flag Runner was allowed to be completely invisible with no max duration?

Instead of having something "New" or "Different", you go for a Me-Too-Strategy, while the amount of free online games is increasing. So what is left that makes STO PvP better or more interesting than other PvP in other games? In terms of economics, this is a wantonly negligent action.

Furthermore you deteriorate Operatives to nothing else than First-Strike Assaulters, and taking every need to hunt down a Cloaker out of the game. What is left on the Assault Map? Tanking and Sniping. So Shanty Town becomes another Arena Map now. Which ends up with nothing else than Arena-Map-Boredom.
Nerfing the maximum Stealth would have been the better choice!

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=569581

I sincerely hope this announced Redesign of the whole PvP System is coming soon, with more than just tanking and sniping, and more purposes to use Stealth than only Assaulting.
    This is Crypticverse...

Why would they nerf the best gun for pvp?
It's a stupid change and they should feel bad.

The Cryo Pulsewave has the stats it has.. it doesn't magically 'do more damage' than guns of other types with the same stats otherwise. I guess this is just a case of whinging-pushing-devs to make pointless changes.. like the Trico nerf that doesn't actually fix what is wrong with Trics.

People in PvP, even if the damage level is reduced, will continue to use the cryo pulsewave for the freeze effect/etc, and other players will still whine that it's overpowered. The right way those other players could have handled it was.. GOING AND GETTING ONE THEMSELVES, thereby BALANCING THE FIELD. Reducing damage (only to players) isn't a fix.

actually, it does, because it deals cold damage, which only EV suits have resistance to

none of the armors or shields people usually take into PvP have cold resist, so that pulsewave is doing its full damage every time

Hah. So what you're saying is, because other players are using fail armors/shields.. that the gun is at fault?

If you see someone with a cryo, switch to an Armored EV suit. Solved.

Next someone's going to complain that because _they_ wear armor that doesn't protect from AP, that AP pulsewaves need nerfed.

so you consider the STF and fleet armors fail armors? because that's what any serious PvPer takes into a match

and anyone taking an EV suit into one is just asking to be ganged up on...the things don't have very effective energy resist

STF Armors don't belong in PvP.. they're PvE Hero outfits.
Designed to make it easier to kill Borg. And just Borg.

As to the fleet ones, they ADAPT to any energy type, right? So they'd ADAPT to cold.

except cold isn't energy, it's the absence of it

besides, even at 75% of its current damage, it's still going to be doing more than any other pulsewave just because of its damage type, so it's not really something to get so worked up about...until cryptic adds cold resist to regular armor; then you can get worked up
