I'll admit I'm kind of confused. Are you just sitting here saying that its nice that the offer is legitimate, but despite this it might NOT be legitimate, so clearly it should be treated as illegitimate and that no one should take them up on it? I really don't get your point here. We have plenty of satisfied customers and every single reply to them seems to be "its nice they're legitimate and you got what you wanted but what if you hadn't?".
The transaction is insecure, thus there will always be a risk of you paying money, not receiving the product, and having little or no recourse. There is absolutely no way for a fleet to "prove" that they will not take your money and refuse to hand over the ship before the money is transferred.
I am happy that this did not happen to you and that there are no reports of T-5 shipyard scams at the moment, but with many fleets' T-5 shipyards likely to come on line within the next few weeks, I do not believe that the potential reward is worth the potential risk. Obviously that is a decision that people have to make for themselves. I suggest they carefully weigh the potential liabilities against the benefits.
Roughly translated: logical thinks it's better to be safe than sorry, and as such probably won't be taking advantage of offers like this, and he suggests you think carefully before spending the ECs.
Did I just about get it?
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
I suspect that 'paid access' to T5 shipyards will become quite competitive very soon, especially as more fleets achieve it. If fleet A is selling T5 shipyard access for XXmillion EC, then no doubt fleet B will offer the same for Xmillion EC less, and so on.
As said, I might have considered this, but I don't have XXmillion EC and to be honest, I (personally) remain unconvinced that spending XX million EC + cost of fleet module(s) makes good sense when I could simply hang-fire and wait a little longer for the fleet I am a member of to achieve the same goal and thus obtain the vaunted T5 fleet ships for far less cost.
Which you are of course more than welcome to do! We expect the same. As for many technologies, the early adopters tend to have higher prices to deal with to make up for the costs of initial research and production.

As much as I would enjoy joining a Fleet, and having access to tier 5 ships, I don't have that kind of energy credits, and I'm not spending real $ to get it, so I guess I'm SOL, which works for me since I've had no luck with lockboxes, so I'm used to being SOL. :P I also wouldn't trust anyone offering access; there's just too many scams out there, especially in mmos.
Of which we are glad to have been assistance for. May your travels through the galaxy be safe, even safer now with 10% more hull and shields.

Hi epsilonia, whats the best way to get in contact with you in game? I'm interested in a T5 ship.
Cheers.
I'm usually a bit too busy running the fleet to do the ship purchases, but my associate at @atheonyirh is almost always able to, when they are on.

Alright, I believe that we've taken care of everyone who was interested in purchasing a ship. If there are any further questions or requests, feel free to ask them.

A legitimate seller loses nothing by keeping their contracts. They don't have sale-related expenses to cover because they already paid for the immense capital investment to get their shipyard to Tier 5. Likewise, a legitimate seller loses reputation and thus future revenue by scamming you. Scamming is bad for legitimate business. Knowledge of that fact is all the security a buyer should need. To assume that you are taking a big risk when dealing with a proven legitimate seller is not healthy paranoia; it's really quite cretinous.
this is not true. First off from what I have heard the majority of these sales are being made by individuals, not the fleet as a whole. As such the revenue that is earned via them is not going to pay back the expenses that were used to pay for the tier 5 shipyard. Rather they are going into an individual members personal bank to pay back whatever he or she contributed to the fleet and nothing else. It does not help the fleet as a whole, and by and large scams the rest of the fleet of their hard earned Tier 5 shipyard.
That said, even if what you say is true, and the alleged facts are that the only buyer security that a person "should" need is the reputation of the seller, the truth of the matter is that this is a purely digital transaction using a purely digital currency for a purely digital product. Worse the seller and the buyer are both 100% anonymous. Thus seller reputation has absolutely NOTHING to do with the matter. This is not Ebay where you can rep down someone who scams you. The forums cannot be used to name and shame someone, so your only recourse is to name and shame them in Zone Chat and that won't always work effectively.
Further a disgruntled member who has not had any contact with these fleets whatsoever, could very easily set up an alternate account and start zone chatting that they scammed him. There would be very little in the way of legal recourse that these fleets could take against that individual, because that kind of situation is not a bannable offense, and there would be no way to prove one way or the other that they didn't scam him due to the nature of these transactions. (please note, that this scenario is a hypothetical and I have no intention of performing this action, nor should any of the readers perform this action. I do not condone anyone taking this action).

Hey. Fleet leader here. Ath and I are pretty much the fleet. The two of us. I'm pretty much letting Ath handle the sales. So the other fleet member and I (the two members of the fleet) are quite fine with this. So yes, it is helping the fleet as a whole.

I find it hard to believe that a 4 member fleet was one of the first fleets to reach Tier 5. You have to have more than 4 active members in your fleet to accomplish this feat.
EDIT: Oh and I wasn't necessarily speaking about your fleet in particular. I was speaking about fleets that sell their shipyard access in general.
I hope the fleet dreadnought come soon, so you can earn some EC from meh !

Yep. Not a four member fleet. It's two. Well, a third, but he tends to do more PVP so he doesn't really factor into much of the donations. We're just that crazy.
And fair enough.

I still find it hard that a fleet with 4 or less people is capable of getting a tier 5 shipyard that quickly. My fleet has about 20 active members and we still don't have a Tier 5 shipyard.

You're welcome to view it, if you'd wish! Also, if your fleet wasn't filling the projects within ~30 minutes of it coming up, and doing just that specialization rather than all three, I can understand where your fleet's lack of T5 Shipyard might spring from. Generally, we made sure we had stockpiles of necessary materials put aside well in advance.
Winning the No-Win Scenario (and numerous Round 9 successes) didn't leave us hurting for Fleet Marks, either.

Just a few questions to the gentlemen from 1st Aquarius. Would the 40mil option give me membership to your fleet on at least one toon and are you recruiting at all?
I ask as my current fleet seems to be down to 3-4 people and while we're progressing to T4, thoughts have crossed our minds on whether or not it's worth carrying on or whether our efforts would be better put merging with another fleet.
We're not recruiting, no. The 40m option merely gives you right of return to come back and purchase more ships when you want to, for any qualifying (IE, fed) character on the account.
That's a shame, there's about 3 very experienced players looking for a new home as there's no chance we can meet the fleet mark requirements before they start raising the bars. Thanks for the info
Confirming it's not a scam as well, very legit and I've got a Fleet AC to prove it. I think I've also referred four or five customers to them, too, to boot.
just wondering... where does the EC go to or what ever resources are paid?
To whos pocket and whos use... considering for a t5 fleet a great number of players have contributed - or do they just get ripped off and all the profits benefit the top elite?
Since fleet itself has nearly no use for EC (provisions and such cost a minute fraction of EC, rest cant be purchased for EC).
