    Good or Bad? Please fix. Its Comcast 25mps internet. Not sure why I would have lag.

    Speed is irrelevant, as the issue you appear to be having isn't even on Comcast's network.

    I've highlighted the relevant hop for you. Those numbers there are high, at least for the first two packets on that leg. Not sure if that's a hiccup, but if you're experiencing significant lag, then I'll wager it'll show like that on multiple traces.

    CMD prompt doesnt seem to want to copy, but lag in game is debilitating. As with the others I also have high-end computer with comcast connection and have been with STO since beta and gold member since that plan's inception. Seriously considering cancelling and uninstalling as this is extremely frustrating.

    yesterday I had no lag what so ever, after todays micro patch, i get Disconnect warning every 5 seconds just standing at ESD. some lasted well over 2 minutes.

    experiencing the "Patchclient recieved a message in a non-responsive state" error

    Tried manual patching, worked a couple of times now just hangs

    Disabled AVG Antivirus (it had caused problems in the past) no change

    renamed the Live folder and tried to patch manually , very slow hangs often and crashed overnight

    ISP is Souris River Telecom

    System is Win 7

    Ever since the emergency shutdown of the server on Friday the launcher crashes when trying to patch. I did not have any problems with the game before Friday's shutdown.

    added note nettest can be copy by right clicking on the window title bar.
    select edit then mark.
    highlight the text by left mouse hold drag then hit enter to copy to the windows clipboard.

    you can then paste the information .

    I'm currently in Japan. I have ran both tests, and the results are less than satisfying. Would being in Japan have anything to do with my lag time?

    Yes it would, as many of the Trans-Pacific cable links are over-subscribed for their capacity. And laying new Trans-Pacific cable routes to handle the rapidly growing demand for bandwidth is very very expensive...

    Your Trace Route results don't look too bad, but your Net Test results are so poor, it almost looks like your ISP is throttling the connection...

    Also, your Net Test reports that some other process is using your Network Connection while Net Test itself is idle... Are you running some other Utility that is taking up your network bandwidth???

    You should probably post your Trace Route results in the PWE Tech Support Forum Thread on STO network Lag, as their showing issues with the Cogent Communications Boston hub, which PWE has been having issues with for the past few months... http://techsupport.perfectworld.com/

    Now the other issue. Your Net Test results is showing that something else is taking up a large chunk of your network bandwidth while Net Test itself was idle... Are you running another networked Utility or Application that is interfering with your STO Client ???

    winamp was up at the time, which is the utility I use to play the internet radio station I listen to. When I closed Winamp, those numbers dropped to 14 and 4.

    Even 14 and 4 still sounds suspicious, as ideally, both numbers are suppose to be Zero. Background activity like that could be behind a malicious keylogger for example...

    When you have this big a lag this close to your computer, it means that either your gateway router, or the cable modem unit, (or both) is having issues talking to each other... You may have to contact Comcast tech support to take a look at the unit...

    I figured as much... thankfully I had enough numbers and stats to talk them into sending a tech out to check everything

    Which is more than what they are doing for other folks :(

    This problem has been evident for the last couple of weeks, but very intermittent. I could play for hours, then suddenly I start lagging and disconnecting or just sitting there with the world moving around me but I am unable to do anything. Starting last night the game has been unplayable.

    Doesn't look like anything is obviously wrong. though you may have done these tests when the issue wasn't occurring...

    However, Net Test does report that something else on your computer is using the network interface while Net Test itself was idle. And existence of other running networked applications and utilities have been known to cause compatibility issues with the STO Client. You might want to track down the cause of this, and see if this is creating the problem or not...

    I currently have really, really bad lags. Being in sector space looks like a picture with sporadic movements of the ships.

    Connection to my ISP seems fine, I get full bandwidth (~4 MB/s) when downloading from their FTP.

    I've put nettest.exe into the list of exceptions in my internet security suite (program control as well as firewall), seems like it doesn't change a thing.

    Windows (7) doesn't report any network activity when idle, so the connection is not really used except for what I want to use it for.
