Rubberbanding again

Hey Peeps

Anyone else suffering from Rubberbanding and Server not Responding Messages and then get booted ?

I checked my Internet Connection it seems to run fine, as I can run another MMO without any Issues, it's just STO which is bugging around again.

Yep! Got in about 4 times earlier, managed to start a mission once before it began not responding and then it gave up entirely. Can't even get to the Engage button on the launcher now!

Internet connection's fine, and the game was fine last night.

Good to know, yeah ships seem to stop, I rubberband around and other ships start jumping around and all, I tried running over the US Proxy as that helped once when that issue happend, but that seems futile as well as I still have the same Error.

I'm from EU btw, so much for the Server Stability Improvements I guess

But good to know I'm not the only one who has that prob xD

Same for me! I managed to get out of ESD thinking that might be responsible for the lag, it was pretty busy, but it was everywhere. I'm EU too and yeah, nice to know it's not just me!

Really bad lag, unplayable, ran all the tests from the sticky, ran additional tests from pingtest and speedtest, all seems ok 100Mb up 100Mb down, 8 ms response, less than 180ms to cryptic servers. I have seen some lag before but nothing like this, it started at about 17:00 UTC, today.

    Okay, first some general stuff:

It doesn't matter if you can play another game just fine. Unless both games happen to utilize the exact same path to their servers, what's affecting something along the route to STO isn't going to affect another game. Therefore, being able to play another game doesn't mean there isn't a problem along the route.

Think of a traceroute (operative part being "route") as an itinerary for the stops your data makes from your PC to the game server. It allows a user to see what's happening with their data packets along their merry way from point A to point B.

    Now...for the individual stuffs:
    contacting nettest server..

I've done you the favor of blacking out your local IP from your nettest results. To you and everyone else, remember that your IP is visible in your nettest--remove it or edit it out before posting for your own security!! Anyway...those results are all over the place. Some results are fine, others are abnormal. What you'll want to shoot for is 200 for first and third columns, and 20 for the middle.

Looks like some ports may be throttled back, either by your router or your ISP. Check with your ISP to see if they can work on cleaning that up a bit or at least explaining why those results are varying that much.

Your traceroute looks okay, just some hops are getting a bit high towards the end (100ms+)

Traceroute is far more informative than a ping to the same destination. Looks like around hop 9, your latency is quite problematic. As I can see that your latency closer to home is fine, I suspect there may be some transoceanic lag there.

And before you start demanding a refund, understand that ToS states that PWE cannot guarantee access to the service whenever you wish to use it.

What was really weird was that the game was lagged on my Klingon character and was working fine on my Fed until log-in queues started showing up. I guess this has more to do with server load due to the 3 year anniversary, which is understandable, its working fine again now. Thanks lewstelamon01, for taking time to review our logs.

It is funny that before they did the emergency reboot, I was able to play through the anniversary mission four times without any problems. The first toon I played aftr the reboot was rubberbanding so bad that it took twice as long to finish and made me walk away from the computer for half a day. The game has not shown any improvement and I think we all are waiting for the eventual meltdown of the server. LTS US player :(

I have the issue for like 2 weeks now, I seem to get the highest spikes at the point the Data gets to that cogentco.com, it's sad the issue still hasn't been fixed yet, it's slowly getting on my nerves, and the Tech Support of Cryptic/PWE is as helpful as ever too... so I guess I'm gonna leave this game until they fix that damn issue.

Your Internet connection may be good enough, but your Internet route to the STO Servers isn't, Your issue is with the tinet.net (transatlantic cable provider?) and its gateway with the Boston pnap.net hub. This is an issue that only the ISP and the Transatlantic cable provider can correct. You might want to complain to your ISP and see if they can bring some pressure to correct the situation...

That's not fair, a lot of people have only been having problems these past few days and it's related to the server load. He was able to play fine 4 days ago and so was I. The real reason we are getting all this massive lag lately is because the servers are not capable of handling this kind of load and here is the proof: http://imgur.com/PDSlurE

i dont think its from the patch, game server seems to be overloaded, there is queues, that didnt happand in near past, i think its more about their connection not ours.
a lot people are logging and playing event now, which load server badly i guess. its still criptic fault tho :)

increased time of respons isnt realy un issue, you can pleay nearly normal even with response from server with over 1000 ms.

the real issue is the packet drops on the route, or from server becouse it cant handle so much data. that is what is cousing "server stop responfing" imo

and i didnt got any packet lost while ping "flooding" sto server with 1500 byte packets, meaning connection is just fine, but server is on heavy load and cant serve all connection, so it delays or drops some of incomming packets.

only thing we can do is wait for most ppls go away and it will
[go back to normal, at least untill they are back. if you didnt noticed this problem exist only in specific hours of the day ...

may be... however It's more than one year I am playing sto using this connection, but only in the last 4 days I am having so much lag, just after the last patch.... Moreover it's not only me but also all of my friends.

I think this lag is related to some changes PW has done.

So what kind of proof is this? Even with the STO Servers at Max capacity, and the login waiting queue is in effect, once I get in, I have no issues at all playing the game from my Silicon Valley location. The fact that only some players are being effected by Lag implies that this is a Network Connection issue, and not a Server Load issue...

And is it just coincidence that Cogent Communications changed their route tables 4 days ago to load balance the network load with another Internet backbone carrier... A change to the Internet Backbone routes can have many unforeseen consequences...

from about 2 hours i dont have connection issues.
that have nothing to do with recent patches. or nearly nothing. pinging game server with 1500 byte packets,100 per sec and 0% packet drops, meaning network connectivity is just fine. its just the server cant handle so much users and dropping some of incoming data, most likely the slowest packets to arrive.

delay of even 1000 ms isnt big deal, that just means that if you use ability server will know it after 1 sec, it wont couse disconect.

Don't expect a ping to tell you what the health of your connection to the STO servers, as 'ping' uses a different network connection protocol (ICMP/IP) then what your STO Client uses, (TCP/IP).

A more accurate test is to use the 'Net-Test' diagnostics, as described in this thread... http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=225155
