Launcher still good for everyone (please close and re-open)? You should be able to patch, and see a new launcher ad :) Just wanted to check.

    Cheers,

Hey all I just wanted to let you know that sometimes when my wife and I log out, we seem to have a problem logging back in to the server. I don't know if it is a modem response error on our part, or what, but my firewall keeps popping up saying there is a potential threat on the patch and I have to reauthorize it to be accessible and then the gateway works. Odd, but I figured I would post this so that you were aware of some issues withe the gateway. I also got the same issue when trying to patch to the Tribble, again the message "winows firewall blocked all or part of this program becauase of potiental risk to the computer, do you wish to authorise?" LOL its great that the patch is getting fixed and the gateway is getting maintenanced so now it can be brought up for you to help with that and see if its something with the patch. We redownladed the patch after removing it from the last critical failure and it started doing this, just FYI. Keep up the good work we love the game and are excited to see what comes next!

No I need to know why, because I am a paying customer.

It is down for maintenance. What does it matter whether the problem is replacing power supplies, re-patching bad software, updating routing tables, servers on fire, or tribbles in the warp nacelles? No matter what it is, it's down for now, and you can't play. KNowing the exact technical reason is irrelevant.

And just because you're paying doesn't give you the right to know everything - especially when it is something that you don't really need to know?

    35mins til 12noon...:D

35 minutes until they've been down for five hours....

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

Why is exact the double ammount of time required?

I cannot believe the statement: "As tests are still ongoing", how long regression testing etc takes is and was known before and already part of the original two hours maintenance window.

Why no plausible and honest explanation is given I do not understand. Just be honest also If someone messed something up.

No, you really don't. Paying customer or no, that information is not relevant to your needs, and considering you don't think they're honest, anything they say will not matter short of it agreeing with your conclusions, so why should they even try? You've already condemned them.

Like someone earlier pointed out that this is a globally played game, why does maintenance have to be done during prime time for most people worldwide?

Generally most countries are 1 or 2 hours most off each other, with America the only country completely out of time by 8 hours compared to everyone else.

Yet maintenance cant inconvenience the minority of players :/

Nothing is ever for sure, but I'd say there's a 90% chance at it.

Your being a paying customer does not give you a need to know.

Why do you need to know if someone messed up? It does not benefit you in any way. You are not responsible for disciplining Cryptic employees.

Why do you need to know what is wrong with the launcher or servers? You are not involved in the maintenance.

The only thing you need to know is that there is a delay in the provision of the service. That is the only information you have a legitimate use for.

well it revolves around whatever time zone ur company is in
they are based on the west coast of the united states, hence they use their time zone, as it should be
i have to add 3 hrs every time i read a post time, but ill live, so will everyone else

u cant please everyone, there are 24 time zones and no matter which one u pick, 23 other zones will complain.

UTC would be a better standard, in my opinion.

As someone said earlier, I'd rather they fix the bugs than do a rushed half-TRIBBLE job, causing headaches for all players for the next couple days.

    Quality, not speed.
