Worth getting Collectors Edition?

I have an existing FTP account, which I set up back in February. I'm thinking about getting the Collector's Edition from Amazon with some Christmas money, but I was just wondering if it is even possible to get the special features from that edition onto my existing account? If they're only for new accounts then it's obviously not going to be worth it.

    do not know if it gives one month gold or if you can use it when you have already gold but the red matter capacitor is need and cool :cool:

    I have a silver account, never been gold. Would I get the Red Matter Capacitor for all of my characters?

    I picked up one myself just a couple weeks ago. I have free shipping on Amazon, so it was just a few dollars more than my monthly sub (which for me is $10/month from the sale three months back).

    For someone like me with an irrational hatred of consumables (batteries), the Red Matter Capacitor is definitely nice to have. You also get access to the "standard" TNG and DS9 series uniforms and a month of Gold membership. I haven't used the uniforms yet, and I don't know that I expect to, but the Capacitor was probably worth the extra three bucks by itself.

    Also, back in real life, you get a nifty comm badge for next year's Halloween costume. ;)

    Edit: Yes, the Capacitor can be claimed on each of your characters. I actually claimed two on each of my characters and put the second ones on my shuttles.

    Yes. Its worth it. 10 bucks is worth it for the Red Matter Capacitor, and you should get 1 month of gold along with it.

    You cam claim the Red Matter Capacitor on all your characters and you can claim multiples of it on each character.

    Based on previous expirience:

    If you get a pack that says: "Get 30 days free playtime, Red Matter capacitor, Item-X, Item-Y, Benefit-X", then that is what you will get.

    This includes a gold account with all the benefits for 30 days.

    Be aware that In some cases, the EC Cap will revert to the Silver limit upon 30 days end.
    Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

    Just placed an order on Amazon.com for my second account, since that account is lacking the Red Matter Capacitator.

    I think its worth it, you get some neat items with it - I decided to do it with my sec lifer account since I missed out on the TR-116 Rifle awhile back.

    I am still in the hunt for a TR-116 Rifle Code - However; Not holding my breath, I use to work for Target and they have the habit of destroying inventory after it becomes obsolete - especially software.

    Destroying it ? Seriously ? Wow....

    Unfortunately, amazon in my country still sell STO collector edition but at ~20$. I'll find another way to buy it :)

    I've got the collector's edition, it's worth it. The t-shirt that comes with it is comfortable, the postcards are nice, the DS9 uniform set is pretty good, the map is very out of date, but not bad and the Red Matter Capacitor is a very useful item to have.

    Go for it, it's worth the money. And if you enjoy the game then it's even more worth it.

    RMC and the zen is pretty much worth it alone.

    If you get lucky buying it off of Amazon you might have it come from a store that has the Amazon exclusive borg bridge officer too.

    The Borg Bridge Officer is no longer exclusive just that the Amazon version should give you an account wide unlock of it while the current C-Store version is character only.

    RMC, 500 zen, a ton of extra bank space, an account bank, and an extra character slot that gets free respec tokens every 10 levels. All for like $10. Heck yeah its worth it.

    Eng Borg BO is fed AND kdf. if you apply the code to an existing silver account you ll get one month of gold perks, the zen stipend, and the RMC. If you can get it for 10$ that is a pretty good deal, imv.

    I'll look again, but I couldn't find a free KDF Lib Borg. I have the free Fed one on all of my Fed chars.

    Yes its worth it. If you order your copy from amazon you may get the Borg Boff unlock or may not. Its really hit or miss at this point.

    If you're silver adding a retail key should also unlock a 3rd toon slot for you.

    The Borg Eng BOFF is not Fed Only. The KDF get a Borg Eng Boff of their own (Klingon, of course).

    The art book, the TOS Connie and comm badge were nice touches too.

    Definitely worth it. I picked it up when I started getting into STO over the summer. Borg BOFF works for Fed and KDF both. Same procedure for both - go to c-store, legacy unlocks, and get the borg BOFF and RMC. The TNG uniforms are pretty sweet. DS9 unis are also nice to have.

    YES YES YES 100% YES!

    Picked mine up recently, and it's unbelievably good value for the money.

    A Red Matter Capacitor and Borg Boff in every character is very handy.

    It gives you a month of gold which gives you lots of benefits:

    Free account bank
    Lots more bank slots on all toons (I had my bank maxed out and this almost doubled it)
    Lots more inventory slots
    Free ship slots (4)
    Free BOFF slots (4)
    Free respec tokens as you level up.

    All of those things (minus the respec tokens) carry on after you gold membership (1 month with collectors) remain untouched.

    Definitely worth doing (especially for less than the price of a months gold!)

    Red Matter is very very good when you got an Exocomp DOFF on your toon.

    And how about for a lifer? Seems the only bonus for me would be the capacitor and maybe some costumes. Still something to consider?

    I got lucky with my local Target and found a copy of STO in a bargain bin about a year or so back and it only cost me 4 bucks and that's how I got the now worthless TR-116 :(

    The colelctor's edition I got came with this nice bronze combadge pin and yeah, codes for getting Borg Boffs and the RMC.

    I didn't get the free borg boff from my Amazon purchase. However, I did get everything else. So when the 30 days are up, I get to keep the extra boff slots; inv space and extra character +foundery dood? Nice.

    Considering how much a combage is worth from other places.
    Just buying the collector's edition for the combage alone is a good deal.

    In game wise, yes, it is a great deal.
