You're so full of TRIBBLE it's shooting out of your ears.

No, they are not. it require a combination of good teams and luck but what they say is very doable after the latest changes. maybe it will spill over to an hour rather than 45 minutes but yes you can get all the currencies and in decent amounts.

do a starbase blockade mission at the end of the fleet window, with a good team (not some random pug) and use the fleet boost you get from the starbase vendor and you can get 60-90 fleet marks for 15 minutes work.

start an infected elite space run with a good team right at the end of the fleet window and it will spill over into the rep window and you will get 960 dilithium as a base reward, you can get anywhere from 90 - 125 marks depending on end loot rolls, 1-11BNP again on loot rolls (which can all be traded in for dilithium) for 10-15 minutes work.

run the acamar system in the new sector block over and over and 15-20 minutes work you have 75 romulan marks.

as they have recently added new loot drops to all captain, battleship and dreadnoughts the amount of junk you get to sell has increased quite dramatically. use or seel all of this for EC.
to sell. Not all doff projects award evenly so there are some that are much more beneficial than others.

if you can match up with the reputation projects finishing that another 960 of dilithium.

most of this does not require you to fly anywhere as its all in your personal windows and via the pve queues so again if yoiur lucky with the queues you can stay in one spot and just do 3 or 4 different missions without going anywhere.

there are other ways you can get good results. if you can match up the fleet action daily with the right fleet actions that another 60 fleet marks (with the bosst) and 480 or 640 dilithium from the fleet action. most have been streamlined so with 15-20 people they are a doodle to complete quickly. by this time you can squeeze in another infected run into the rep window.

again this requires good teams, queues popping quickly, a lot of luck with the loot roles and being focused on what you want to get but within 45-60 minutes you can get lots of rewards.

Honestly, I still think that Dilithium is the problem.

More like 'a' problem, but I think there's a good point here.

When did STO really turn the corner toward being extremely grindy? And not in a fun way, I might add.

    When they introduced Dilithium.

Because of the way it's awarded, and because of the proportionately high Dilithium costs for 'stuff', it de-incentivizes players from actually playing the content they want to play and places a strong burden on playing the content that Cryptic wants people to play and doing certain tasks ... over and over.

Because that's the only way you can get ahead. If you're like me, and you don't have time or inclination to do that, you never get anywhere near the refining cap let alone being able to afford to spend it.

I think Cryptic needs to take a hard look at balancing Dilithium earning against Dilithium expenditure. Reduce some of the cost and make it possible to earn some amount of Dilithium no matter what kind of content you want to play. Close the gap just a little.

I also think they need to move some stuff out of the Lobi store and into the C-Store. Put more stuff in the C-Store that people actually want to spend cash on. You pretty much have to spend cash to get Lobi, so I don't see the difference. I think it would increase sales volume necessary to keep the game running. Right now I think it's all geared toward big spenders and I think that's not viable in the long run.

All that said, I don't think I would have bothered with playing certain content that I never tried before if there hadn't been a hook to induce me to do it. And I admit that I would have missed out. And I'll probably try out some other stuff I never bothered to do before. So they definitely do need to concentrate the rewards in a way that gets people to try new things.

About what part? If you want to call me out on something specific ill gladly prove you wrong. I do the same sequence of missions everyday, and it generally takes between 40-55 minutes depending on how awful the STF group is. If I do a fleet run it's alway sub 45.

That is true. There is quite a number of players who spend several hundred dollars in lockboxes and dillithium. I won't get a temporal destroyer in the next time because I only want to spent max ~10$ a mount on masterkeys and didn't had luck with my 50 master keys I already bought xD And I don't want to grind like a idiot to get more dill and EC.

will just say this... I am make a **** ton more Dil now in S7 then i ever did in S6

If you are have some issue in getting at least 6k a day, you are just lazy. between Doffing, and the Rep chains you can pull 5k alone for all of 5 mins in Clicking, with a handful of ISE and Rom missions tossed in

Am I lazy because I prefer playing storyline missions and episodes that are actually immersive and fun rather than running around killing the same things or clicking the same glowies over and over and over again?

That is where the problem lies for some of us. It's not that we *can't* get dilithium, it's that the means of doing so gets old and repetitive really fast. It's not fun, it's "grindy".

Attach dilithium (even if it's a lesser amount) to storyline missions, and it will alleviate some of the problem. I don't think they want to do that, though, because then of course players will want more storyline and episode missions which are apparently harder to make than the repetitive grind content.

I do like the New Romulus content and such, but to me it's no different than the episodic missions: They're nice to play every once in a while, but not daily. It's boring to do the same thing daily. Variety is good.

If they are going to gate so much gear and such behind dilithium, they should add dilithium rewards to standard dev-created missions and episodes as well. Even if all they do is add a "wrapper" mission for playing a story arc or three missions, or what have you.

not much running around is involved. the "day" for my Average alt-loop

*based on keep DS9 as your "Home base"

when i get up i log in, while reading the morning news and processing my overnight sales
Alt 1 (KDF) Collect Doff missions (~4k Dil)
-start new Contraband turn in, and Prisoner turnin
    -Clear my Omega Rep projects
    -Vender Marauding junk
-dump exess contraband in Account bank
    -Take any Barter Doff missions
    -Beam out, do the same
-Sector out, Take all Maruding mission, fill rest of Doff slots with resolve Missions
-Refine, and put up Dil for 25:1
Alt-1 Done, do the same for KDF Alt-2

Alt-3 (Fed) Collect Doff Missions (~4k Dil)
-Grab 5 Contraband(if needed) from bank
    -Start new Contraband turn in
    -Clear Omega rep projects
    -Grab Haggle Missions
    -Beam "..."
    -Sector "..."
    -Grab Reslove Missions
    -Refine, put Dill for 25:1
Alt-3 done, repeat for alt 4,5

(there, the Alt loop is done, took me all of 10 mins of actual clicking (when i looked back over at my second screen, after finishing some RW task)

Then i log in to my Main, Do the same as the Alt Loop, Cancel the Dil sales and deiced what i want to do the ~25k+dil. And if i have time might run some STF's, or make a "Support..." loop or do the Rom Sec. patrol if i need rom marks

then some time that night, i do a second alt loop, and what ever i feel like doing my my main or one of my combat alts

..the point is it isnt hard, or extremely time consomeing (Well beyond waiting on cooldowns, but the secret to the Doff Cooldowns is staying in front of them) It is all about Time management, and doing the tasks that net the most return for that time, So you have time to do the content you want to do, but dont need to do

Nonsense. Dilithium is working exactly as intended. The intent is to turn the game into a grindfest so vicious that players have to spend $$$ on Zen.

The Dil exchange shows Zen dropping and dropping. This is so because more Zen is being sold, and less Dil is entering the economy from player activity, which is now much less productive.

Treating the Dil issue as some sort of misunderstanding or flawed but well-intentioned design is disingenuous. The game is where PWE wants it. Vicious exploitation.

Then there's that silly argument made by some people: "hurrdurr, so-and-so is optional anyway". The argument is just that, silly, because the GAME is optional. It falls in the same category as those who presume to examine the game as job or chore and argue that one can do the necessary grinding in an hour and then the rest is "your time", like a coffee break.

Actual players don't think that way. They don't see the game as a job, and they don't feel they owe PWE their time. That perspective comes from PWE employees who think that the playerbase exists for their benefit and that STO exists in a vacuum. They don't see the game itself as optional because they post for the sake of their employer, thinking players couldn't possibly have anything else they could be doing to amuse themselves besides playing their one game.

Those posters construct their argument around that unreal premise, and it betrays that they are not actual players at all.

Anyone want to guess why he won't get actioned for posting just to troll and insult a poster critical of PWE? Or why he even bothered to reply to my post, of all the posts in this thread?

I really don't understand your point of view. I've spent a bit of money on this game, pretty much everything I've bought I don't use. My oddy sits unused and unloved (in fact, scrapped), my MVAE, in fact pretty much all my c-store ships.

    I don't buy dilithium, I don't open lockboxes.

I have 4 lockbox ships, T3 reputation and around 100k refined dilithium, with 200k unrefined.

I got it all without paying any money. Through playing the ******* game and buying stuff on the exchange and doing my dailies.

PWE is not a big giant monster manipulating the dil exchange so you buy more zen, and you don't have to buy zen and convert it to dilithium to get ahead in this game - your premises are flawed and completely WRONG.

Season 7 was all about squeezing players. They fundamentally changed the game to do it, and in a way that is boring and not fun to boot.

SWTOR has always been a hot mess (because EA is terminally incompetent and evil), but there are other f2p systems that are far better than STO's: LOTRO and GW2 (though that's technically b2p).

You must be joking. LOTRO's F2P model has all but killed that game. It's one of the most intrusive F2P systems around, and is a lot more limiting than STO's.

GW2 has a box price, and some of the same monetization items STO has. For all the complaints about lockboxes, GW2 has those as well.

No, I agree with the other posters. STO has one of the best F2P systems out there. If anything, they probably give away too much. And I personally like the systems they've added with Season 6 and 7.

I see a lot of this account's posts on the PWE dev blog, shooting down anyone who criticizes PWE, but you have only nine posts on this forum and of all the things you say, "PWE gives away too much?"

The Vesta pack has a price tag of $50 in cash. You can buy a full-fledged game for that. You could buy WoW and a month of sub and have every piece of gear in the game by the end of that time, without spending any more money.

Your argument is completely unreal and no one would make a point of making less than ten posts to say that in good faith.

I think PWE has revitalized the game to be honest. I've seen the way Atari handled it, and the way PWE and between the two PWE has been the better. Even before STO went free to play I spent a fair amount of coin on the C-Store and purchased a lifetime sub. After free to play my Lifetime sub is paid off, and I really have no issues spending a little money on the Zen Store to get things I want.

Afterall that's what the Zen store is right? Things we want. Not things we need, but want. I want to fly a Galaxy-X so I bought it. I want to fly the Odyssey so I bought it. I wanted costumes and costume slots so I bought them. Honestly I don't see any content in the zen store at all. It's all just shiny stuff that add some fluff to the game. On top of that they are giving you a FREE Breen ship with the winter wonderland content patch. All you have to do is work for it by playing the game.

Also there's plenty of story with New Romulus. Did anyone even bother reading all the NPC's text? There's plenty of good story there. Granted it's no featured episode series, but take it for what it is, content. I think the guys and gals over at Cryptic do a great job with STO. After all they don't limit our access to things like SWTOR does. If you want to see a bad F2P model go check that out and by the end you will think STO is giving away the bank!

Anyway just my thoughts on it.

PWE is not a big giant monster manipulating the dil exchange so you buy more zen, and you don't have to buy zen and convert it to dilithium to get ahead in this game - your premises are flawed and completely WRONG.

dunno bout fed side but kdf has 2 missions that can be done every half an hour for 940 dil my only problem is not bein able to refine enuff of it :p but yeh wat he sed

I think I've decided you're just trolling now. PM me your email address or be quiet.

I am Topset. @mikehadfield in game. This is my only account. Shush now. Introduce me to whoever my pen voice is similar too, I'd imagine we'd get on well and I'd like to get to know him/her. They are obviously a really smart person with a high intellect - not to mention funny, witty, charming, and gorgeous to look at

There are some curious creatures in the world that just want to get a rise out of you, then play the victim when you lose your cool. It's ok though, they only eat attention and starve very quickly and go away without it.
I'll sell you some weapons from New Romulus. Never fired, only dropped once.

    Hi,

This thread has now most definitely run its course, and isn't providing any civilized discussion, so due to this as well as the high number of flaming/trolling posts and/or reported posts in this thread; I'm closing this thread down.

    1. For future reference please remember that it helps a great deal when posts which violate the PWE Community Rules and Policies are not responded to and are reported via submitting a Forums and Website Ticket (click here).

    2. If you think any of your posts within a thread have violated the PWE Community Rules and Policies, please edit your posts before a moderator takes action.

    3. If you feel you need to get in touch with PWE BranFlakes to discuss the actions taken by any Community Moderator, you can do so by submitting a Forums and Website ticket (click here).

    Thanks, :)
