With season 7 approching and the massive grind that will be required to stay competive in pvp is going to be it's demise. I have 9 toons once this personal grind starts it will be impossible to stay competetive t1 and t2 will be a joke but from my calculations t3 will be a few hour a day of grinding pve, few hours x9 will make it imposible to keep up. Even if i ditch multiple toons there will be no time left for pvp. Once this S7 is live there a good chance it will be time for me to move on. The only thing that can save pvp is to dissable those buffs.
DHCs don't work because they are making sure the tech to actually equip them works right now. They did the exact same thing with the NARC, TAG and AMS systems. All of which work beautifully.
The game is madly addicting even with only one game mode (and seriously, like STO has any better... at just honestly -one- game mode arena and 3 maps. the -one- game mode in MWO has more strategic depth than the entirety of sto as a game combined, and there's like 6 maps right now for said 1 game mode).
The mech balance system works well too. The OP of that post is just pissed he can't field mass atlases anymore. (a combo which was only good for stomping TRIBBLE Teams to start with) mechwarrior was worth every penny I spent on it so far. And the game's not even Finished yet.
The weapons systems over all are also well balanced, as are the mechs between each other. Basically the OP of that post is a whiny lil ****
I own MWO Its fun and it's PVP only. The game being built from the ground up arround PVP is great. Good game but its not STO space combat.
I love this stupid game thats the only reason i complain about it.
What's your screen name over there? I'll add you to my social list!
Yes it's true, MWO Open Beta on 10/29. More like 10/30 as they are doing another big patch and data wipe on 10/30 at about 11am Pacific.
Come, join the rest of the pvp refugees! Because when this travesty of asian grind and continued pvp neglect goes live I'm done with STO for good. I didn't think I'd like mwo at first, being ground and not starships, but it's really fun and well done.

Nice to see the run-up to the new Season update is proceeding normally.

Apologist attitude aside, it's a fact that more pvp players leave STO with every new craptastic addition to the game and continued pvp neglect than new players get added. Even slow bleeders, when left untreated, lead to death. PvP playerbase used to number in the thousand range and is now down to just a small handful of loyalists. Because there is no where else to engage in starship combat. But that's pvp's only saving grace at the moment, and as starship combat becomes less and less fun, that one piece of good becomes less and less important. Remember QEW, the old SOB crew, 7th Core, GoD? All those fleets of players who will never, ever come back. It's only so long until there is but a dozen people left and the queues pop with the same 5v5 over and over and over.

Bah, empty words. Exactly what people said when Dili was introduced, when lockbox ships came, when the fleet system came (an even bigger grind) and now with this small addition. Still, people adapt and learn to play the game in it's new version as well. Grinding a character to the top of the tree is still no slower than other MMOs. Grinding out the rep stuff is no slower than grinding out a XII set in the STFs. (barring cases of extreme luck)
It's also a fact that more players come than leave. The queues are still alive and kicking. (I can remember time when getting a match could take an hour!)
Must be a time zone thing. When I play, the queues usually are faster than they were a month or two ago, even in FvK.
I also note that the average quality of Klingons has... not exactly improved, with many new names to be seen on the Klingon side. Looks like new players to me.
I have to agree about the queues being faster than they were about a month ago.
It's usually a 5-10 minute wait now instead of the 15-20 minute wait. Course, that's FvF. Not too many folks bother to queue FvK... I'll queue FvK if there's a daily. Otherwise, it's pointless...
If PVP is really getting better: When was the last time you did a premade 5v5 without any additional rules between two teams that are truly interested in winning?
Queues are faster? I would say they are dead. I have not played STO in few days (flirting with lord Zash currently), but last time I was in it was like two hours to wait for the queue to pop up and then got pissed because not everyone accepted and game not started. Currently the only place I can get my PvP fix is Ker'rat and even there it is harder and harder to find some Klink to kill.
Yeah, may be the timezone problem but then I cannot change my timezone so for me PvP is quite dead.
BTW - so, you say MWO is PvP only and a good one? Hmmm...
Stupid easymode Siphon Carriers are probably going to cause less people to queue FvK..
Yup, Siphons have basically killed FvK I prefer to play Kling, but most of the matches someone with a Siphon Carrier ends up on my team, and the greater part of the Fed team warps out after the first engagement. And when I play Fed, even queuing FvK is out of the question, as I always end up facing 2 carriers drainig the fun out of the match.
If PVP is really getting better: When was the last time you did a premade 5v5 without any additional rules between two teams that are truly interested in winning?
Uhm... season 1.2? No, wait, we had additional rules back then too... Additional rules in tournaments are a fact of life in most games.

Damnit, you're making MWO seem more and more tempting.
Eh, I'll just wait till the official release in a few months, so I can enjoy the product without the beta-period bugs and whatnot. I'm looking forward to seeing how the different weight classes balance out in practical terms. . .in Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance 'online', it was usually pointless to load a light mech in most situations. Everyone just ran mediums and heavies. If light mechs actually have their advantages, I suspect I'll be driving one of those
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
I just had a 4v4 (3 plus 1 minutes from queuing to the actual match). Unfortunately, some brilliant guys from a certain fleet had the bright idea to queue in the queues as a lockbox ship premade, resulting in a very boring slaughter without any point.
This is, to me, a rather atypical experience. Normally, PUG vs PUG is quite enjoyable. If only this "queue the team" feature was disabled. Everybody knows that even moderate teams are OP to PUGS in every way.
No one who queues as a premade team should complain about the queues, really.
Edit: To make this perfectly clear: Your statement "truly interested in winning" would happen more often to you if people saw any point in trying. This problem is yours, not one of the queues.
Yes, players that have worked on developing team skills over the years of playing STO and honed their builds to work well with the rest of their team are the ones to blame for STO's pvp numbers. The same players that have been trying to get new players in and educate them to become better pvp'ers, allowed them to run with them on their teams to show them the nuances of pvp from a team perspective, the ones who actually took pvp in this game seriously even though STO never really has... We're the ones that ruined pvp...
Your arrogance really has no limits sophie. Even with your loathing of this community, we've bent over backwards to try to help you to become a better player (i.e. tac carrier thread). You continue to come in here and insult us and say we're the reason pvp is dead when we've put more time into trying to make pvp better than cryptic ever has. Why don't you just go back to your kirk section of the forums and quit coming in here to troll and insult us?

1) Teamwork and timing is #1
2) You cannot "Kirk It" in every ship
3) You are going to die, just get back up
Yes you can... But i do think pvp will get love at one point but it's still a year away.
Nuff said.
If that **** is true it's a bit of a concern. I'll still give it a try though.

Think about this:
American Football has been in open beta for 144 years. ~Kotaku
I need to get on with Jorf to play with my new dragon that I've worked on. Providing he's in his brawler anyway.
I also have another in reserve that I'm going to build once I get a few computer parts.
I need to figure out a way to get an ER PPC, LBX10 and at least 1 SRM4 though for my ideal build.

Try to look at it as an increased level-cap.

That's not entirely true.
There's nowhere else to engage in casual starship combat - sure... but there's definitely somewhere else to engage in starship combat.
Your perception always has been skewed.
