There have been many mentioning black or what they think might be missing textures on ships, and on some environment assets.
These textures are not missing, it was an error caused by our processing the models into an in game usable form. The issues weren't noticed until we made the upgrade to DX11, which revealed them. For the most part, the black textures will only be visible with DX11 enabled. There are some who report seeing the errors in DX9 mode. We know of an issue with ATI cards that may cause this, but there are some nvidia cards that may still experience it. If you are experiencing these errors, please report them here. If you would prefer not to see the errors at all, you can try disabling DX11, or messing with your graphics settings (lighting seems to have an effect).
Many of these errant models have been reprocessed to address the issue. Most of those were brought up in some of the previous threads on the subject.
As all of those threads have been archived, I've created this thread as a place you can report such errors.
Please keep in mind that all of the reprocessing that's been done so far was done in Branch 20 (Season 6) thus, at this moment, those changes should be visible on Tribble, but are NOT on Holodeck yet.
If you are playing on Tribble, and still seeing errors, please report them here.
If it's a ship, please tell me which ship, and if you are using any special pieces/skins/etc.
If it's in the environment somewhere, please tell me where (which map) this occurred on, as well as a description of where in the map, or what the object is.
Any screenshots you can provide will be most useful.
Unfortunately, we have to address these on a case by case basis. As such, I know we're going to miss some of these. We'll fix them as we can. Sorry in advance.
We actually don't need video card or dx 9/11 info. We know it happens, we know how it happens, and we know how to fix it. We just need to know WHAT to fix.

Screencaps are useful.
Does the bug report save a screenie upon submission (ie orient the camera to be looking at it, and submit)? Or do we need to take ones seperately and host them somewhere and link in the report?
The mines on Zaria ("Emancipation" daily and Breen FE) need to be updated too.... here's a link to a thread I posted with screenshots of the issues there:
When I switched to directx 11, I would see black squares and rectangles on the floor and sometimes the wall. They mostly look like shadows, and they appear and reapear.
It's good I've found this thread. Formerly using an ATI Radeon 5850 1GB, I have plenty of screenshots with missing textures. Before I start looking throught hem though, visit TOS Drozana! This map greatly annoys me with the massive amount of missing textures and the TOS ship interior is another one. Most recently, on top of the cabinet between the two bards on present Drozana, there is a black diamon (or two triangles) missing in the middle of the top of it.
Current GPU is an ATI Radeon 7950 3GB, screen resulution of 1920X1200, everything maxed with the exception of AntiAliasing, as 16x AA has always caused the game to fatal error crash on ATI hardware from my experiences.
Were all of those screenshots taken on Tribble!? I know I re-exported that whole set already, if this is actually on tribble, I'll have to try again. If it's on Holodeck, please take note of the original post, the reprocessing that has been done, has not made it to Holodeck yet.

Yes, these were from Holodeck. Sorry, I must have forgotten most of hte first post by the time I got through it. I will head on over to Tribble now and visit Drozana. I haven't visited much on Tribble lately outside of what isn't on Holodeck.
Revisiting Drozana (present), I couldn't find any of the black/missing textures on Tribble. Even on Drozana (past), I only found one area that had a few missing in Everything Old Is New.

Yes, the screenshots I took of the black textures on Zaria were taken on Tribble. Fun fact; the interior section of Nukara Prime shows the same black textures in the same places.
Not to knock what the Dev's have done a lot of the maps int he new content are recycled from other maps already on Holodeck. I don't really want to play through the holian stuff again (yet) but I do remember some from the last time I ran around in there. Right now, I am looking for the ones I most noticeably reember on Holo that annoy me. However, while looking around, I am discovering some new found polish in places as well (little things). Whether you enjoy the game, use it for RP purposes, etc. This game looks very pretty in some places. Not only will the What's Old Is New fixes make me happy, it will make a lot of those I game with in STO very happy as well.
Thanks guys, I passed the ship ones off to the ship guys, I'll look into the enviro ones when I can, but everyone is pretty swamped with finishing off critical S6 tasks.
I'm guessing none of the stuff people have noticed will make it into the Season 6 patch but keep up the great work on eliminating these, tacofangs! I will keep looking for more.
Not sure if the earlier guy included the screencap of his VA level Defiant as an example of the problem or if he was showing off his ride.
In case he was just showing his ride, then please notice the black triangle on the underside of the model, in the rear. the tip of the triangle points to the forward section of the ship while the base of the triangle covers the complete lower hull section.

It is still this way on Tribble, too.
Thanks
It was to do both actually. Although my toon on Tribble flies the Jem'Hadar Attack Ship, he pilots the Defiant on Holodeck as the Jem'Hadar ship was a gift for a friend of mine who plays as part of a Christmas surprise.
Although I haven't made it through the Devidian series missions again to check. The back triangle on the underside of the rear of the ship made it to Holodeck. There is also this in the Engineering area of the Fleet Starbase that jumped out at me.
Thanks for the heads up.
There's no need to check every instance of the same pieces. Many, many maps are built out of the same basic building blocks. If it's broken in one place, it will be broken in all of them.
It's not broken in the Captain's Table so I'm guessing the specific issue on the Fleet Starbase Engineering version is with the colored textures specifically. Keep up the great work with eliminating these though. I am really impressed at how many are gone.
Could you also pass on my thanks to whoever fixed the DS9 Admiral Belt clipping issues. [=
Vo'Quv still has black textures all over it, Galaxy still has some on the bottom of the engineering hull and top of the saucer. Just glancing through the ship requisition at ESD there seems to be a whole bunch of ships with black textures still.
I'll try to make a list tonight, but I'm not sure if the ESD models are actually representative of the actual ships, since most of them I don't actually possess.
I have the same problem but it's my whole ship that's glitching. My friends online also see it as solid black so I don't think it's a problem with my graphics card though I could be wrong.
I still have these black spots appearing on my Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit ship. I like using DX11 because of the performance boost, but it's a bummer to see these unsightly black marks on a ship I purchased.
Here are soem screenshots showing what I'm talking about:

since ATI cards might show it, that is most likely why im seeing it, i run a Radeon HD 6850.
I hope the fixes in S6 fix this. as i like seeing the prettyness of DX11.

If worse comes to worst, you can always open it up in MS Paint or something, and circle the area in red.

Keep up the great work with this. I will continue to hunt around the STO universe for these on Tribble and will post them.

Considering that is a rehash of a room from the Captain's Table, I will check there also when I am there next.
