you are never going to get anywhere with DEM. what has been getting guarantied results for me lately is a tac in an excelsior with 8 beam arrays, BO 2 and 3, 1 eps console, weapons power topping out as close to 150 as possible, and all the weapons batteries you can fit in your inventories. 90% of bops are dead in 5 seconds, escorts 15 to 20. everything else about 30, unless they have a really well thought out defense or team healing. oh the terrible things i would do with a galor.

That was pretty much my conclusion as of late too. The beam boat is a lot less fun but it's a tough nugget. A B'Rel simply isn't a match (tank the Alpha, prime BOIII, AP:A, AP:B, FomM, TFIII, TT, EPtW1, he either cloaks to lick his wounds or dies fast). Now two BoPs from opposite shield facings are more difficult (it breaks the TT proc to a degree). I prefer Shields or Aux Batteries to Weapons, it's overkill when you're already at 125 with the Borg console, the innate +5, etc., plus it's easier to keep your power settings at default rather than switch them when the Weapon Battery buff ends. I also prefer a single DBB in front since getting the arc in isn't too difficult most of the time and it pays off if you can make a BOIII connect.
The EPS console is mandatory, I swap out one RCS for a resists console if I'm using beams. My beam Excel builds itself; the only problem I've found so far is the lieutenant science slot. I've switched between Polarize Hull, HE, TSS and even CPB (which I wasn't too impressed with) with varying degrees of failure and success. I lean towards Polarize Hull and TSS, the only one I don't like is Science Team (limited situational use and shares too many cooldowns).
Escorts I've found hit-and-miss. I have real trouble with the Jem'Hadar ship although I'm working on a counter-build for it.
stacking buffs and hitting them with a preloaded BO2, then ether eptw or a battery followed by BO3 very often turns any ambush into a disaster for them, and my high weapons energy level shots mopes them up well.
FAW, if theres more then 1 opponent around, is completely useless for anything but garbage man duties. you will deal more damage to the person you want to shoot at if you don't use FAW. plus each shot is less accurate then an unbuffed shot, for some reason. FAW should just be a beam rapid fire onto your target, and if you have no target selected it should fire randomly. but BO with even single beam arrays has proven to be surprisingly devastating of late, before it only seemed like a useful skill on DBB using escort.
Bump. and the copy pastaing to rebuild this thread so that I can edit and update my TOC and previous posts will commence at some point in the near future.
I know conventional wisdom is that DEM is useless, but I was in a pvp with my escort where I was getting my rear handed to me over and over by someone using DEM1, of all things.
Campaign: The Fenwick Cycle NWS-DKR9GB7KH
Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?
Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?
Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?

It's more useful than Aceton Beam IMHO.

What's your opinion on a healboat flying without ET3? but rather with one of the other two?
I'm a little torn on that too. It's nice to have the burst healing of ET but running ASIF3 and EPTS 1 and 2 I am left with only having my Lt. Commander slot available(I captain a sci oddy and use the uni Lt Cmder BO for science)and I really like having ES2. The limited range and Oddy manuever sometimes makes ES impractical. I run TSS3 and 2 and think maybe I can ditch the ES.

Going to field this one in the new thread (please subscribe to it. I can't go back and edit builds, doffs or anything with the way that the Archiving worked when they moved the forums with this thread)
This guide has helped me re-train few of my BO skills and I have myself seen good performance. +1
Although I still have to test it's effectiveness in PvP, but I just tested my skills out in a fleet action and it did make it better, especially removing my Emergency power to Shields I and adding II.
Also rather than have TacII and Fire @ will I, I did it other way around. Sticking with my High Yield Torps though.
Lt Cmdr uni Sci.
Transfer Shield Strength1, Hazard Emitters2, Charged Particle Burst 2 or Photonic Shockwave. Why? Grav well in addition to sucking, is not really usable on this barge. TBR would be useful if it weren't for even gold speccing in ID making you virtually immune to the repel it like PSW is going to get a nerf to it's dps output soon. So it's down to the two most useful sci skills... and the latter of the pair is going to get a huge nerf soon. So yeah CPB2 if you want control.
Ens uni. Emergency power to Aux1.
Lt Tac, Tac Team, Faw2.
Shields, Borg,
Deflector, Borg
Engine Borg
Consoles, 2 SIF Generators, 2 Armors.
Field Generator, Borg, and Particle generator consoles.
Power levels, same as above for Engineer. Sci captains, 75 weapons, 50 shields, 25 engine, 75 aux.

Unfortunately *points to my sig* so I'll have to do my best to keep this thing bumped.

My only issue with it, is it does take up a lt cmdr or cmdr spot in it's good formats. (and it's really an LT or LTC level skill at best)
And, well, FBP is kinda hard to fight other than 'don't fight that guy.'
(I'm open for suggestions, but as an escort, my defenses are already stretched thin)
