I am playing around with a dkora again bored of my jem hadar. Anyway, with my three conn doffs I get 2x apo. I really wish it had a lt tac for 2crf with apo.
My failed build that mav saw last night is vastly different then my latest build from this morning.
Consoles
Every cruiser that has even one eng team, ASIF or Hazard emitters Needs 2 SIF Generators for the builds I've discussed so far. They tremendously boost your healing capability. To not have them is almost criminal. RCS? Only put on a control focused AC and then I wouldn't run more than 2, at max.
Another very solid console layout is 2 SIF Generators, and 2 Armors. I prefer Tetraburnium coupled with Diburnium for my armors as this gives you ridiculous resists to all energy types, with abit more leaning on Phasers and disruptors.
Sci Consoles, Field Generator at least one of these is mandatory, Borg Console can fit in here as well. For builds where the DPS isn't as important, you can move the Borg out and put in either a Shield Emitters console, or another Field Generator. Oddy's for example I recommend 2 to 4 Field Generators, couple that with a regen shield and the oddy's OP shield modifier and you get some insane shield tanking, at very low effort on your behalf, which means more heals for everyone else.
Tactical Consoles, for Damage and Control, as many energy consoles as you can stuff in here. For healing, any cstore consoles, and the borg and maybe an energy console.
The Atrox is an Engineer and Sci captain's ship. Mostly engineer, scis you really only get that initial Sub Nuc strike with this thing to really rely on it otherwise. This ship can be an absolute Monster on shield healing which gives it incredible solid potential for use on a team, the shuttle craft and various options they contain, give you a host of crowd control by default. This ships purpose, in this configuration is all about Healing and CC. While it does have 100 weapons power to assist in DPS dealing it's not going to be topping the charts there. However the healing capabilities are ridiculous. And in a proper team, you won't see too many fatalities on the field.
Shields: MACO
Engines: BORG
Deflector: BORG
Weapons: 6x Tetryon Arrays [Acc]x2
Galor Turn on a Dime Build
( people don't like cruisers that fly like escorts... and I will be the first to admit that this ship takes the place of a team escort ... and is useless for heal support... however it is a nasty dmg cruiser. )
Tac Team 1 - Beta 1
Tac Team 1 - Spread 2 - Scatter 2
Engi Team 1 - Aux to Damp 1 - RSP 2 - DEM 3
Emergency Power to Shields 1 - Aux to Bat 1
Transfer Shield Strength 1
Omega Deflect
Omega Shield
Borg Engine + Borg Unit
One Shield Field Gen - One Shield Regen Unit
Slot Shield Bats they are a good heal on this build.
6 Turrets + 2 Photons
2 Torp Doffs
3 Tech Doffs... (Purple or go home)
- Aux to Bat will have a cool down of 20 Sec... I honestly rarely bother using EPTS.
- RSP will have a 1 min Cool Down thanks to aux to bat procs
- Switch to shield power if you need to... use shield batts + tac team when you can... with the high Galor Regen + Omega + extra regen unit... you will be suprised to see your shields regen to full in 5-10 sec.
- DEM is not real high dmg... however it will have 12 sec or so between it going down and being off cool down again with aux to bat procs
- Aux to Damp WILL hit its own global so it will be like you are running 2 copies of Damp... just be sure ti hit it right before you hit Aux to Bat so you have max aux power on it. It will settle into a nice roll being up a couple sec before your aux to bat all the time
- Hit your TSS 1... before your aux to bat when ever it is up... Aux to bat will keep its cool down low as well it is like having 2 copies... you just HAVE to use it before so it can be effective.
- Your Spread 2, Beta 1 and CSV will be up almost as fast as tac init.
- Photons will be spitting pretty much 1 per sec
As I say not a team dmg /support build... this is a pure dmg build... flys like an escort.
^ troll build? aux to damp+ turrets? aux to bat even with the doffs? i cant see this thing dealing useful damage, and it looks very easy to kill. if i had a damage dealing galor, it would be built nothing like this

Ask people that have had to meet me in it... honestly its no troll build. :P
300-500k in dmg in a average arena... pretty much right behind my escort.
To the Op good advice. I went down your check list, and I had no more problems flying my cruisers. One thing though anyone got any advice for skill points set up based off of the ops suggestions? For a tact. I thought I had that part down and did a retrain and now my weapon power level is 110. Not exactly good.
Which cruiser are you flying? My Vorcha sits at 122/90
AC somewhere around there too I believe.
Also you can just sub out something like EPTA for an EPTW that will get you the bonus power you need.
well im not pro or anything but it seems you put full 9 points in stuff that only gives 1 extra point.efficiency should be 6 points. i actually do 3 on my engy in a oddy and my wep power levels are still good. i do epts x2 with eptw skilled to 6 points so it fits very good in the cycle. also in the parser for wep specialization im speced all 9 and flew in pvp with a guy that was in the ts i was using at the time. he has 1 point in it and and our crits was basically the same. seems anything over 1 point is not enough to justify using up huge points. even delphic ( did not spell his name right) redid his skill spec to make it just 1 point. he fly's with sad pandas. also engine performance all 9 gives just 1 extra point. i also tested this on tribble. got tired of paying for respecs.
The reason you see 9s on the build, is some skills really are only worth 0 ranks (subystem repair for example, Aux Performance for another, Sensors, Countermeasures, Driver Coil, skill) and other skills are only worth ranking when you use their given abilities.. Graviton, for GW, or TBR or tractor beam, Decompiler for VM.
And well, I'm not about to put more ranks into lolground than I have to. So, getting that extra 1 percent of efficiency becomes more than worth the investment.
Those little 1 percent gains add up over time. (hell most MMOs consider one percent significant for a boost)
ahh ok i see. so is that why on your vorcha you dont run aux to struct? 3 ranks in aux i think makes that skill worth it. i tryed my tact in the oddy on tribble.
any flaw in my build? also reason for full 9 in bats is because i like to use wep bats and for 20 secs i have no wep drain. also i knock my sheilds alot and put the power in the aux system. and ofc i have 2 copies of epts. that keeps my sheild power high. this can be either an engy build or a tact in tank build. just engy dont have the skill sap.

I'm kinda curious on the possibility, if they ever fix the Jem'hadar 3 Peice Set bonus bug with Jem'hadar Bug and Cardassian Galor not working.. would that be viable with SNB Proc DOFFS in this build?

Mabey... but I bet it would be way to squishy to work very well.... would be nice to be able to test that though if things where working.
The omega shield is pretty kick a**, my galor has almost 12k in shielding with the omega... which has almost as much regen as the borg shield.
I should throw the jem on there for a few rounds just to test the squish factor I guess.

kinda run a "similar" built, but with 2 torps in front+2 single guns.
2 part maco+borg
2 shield field gen
EPtS1, AUX to damp, aceton beam, RSP
TSS1, HE1, Photonic officer
mostly PVE, i guess for PVP i should rework the some engi powers and sci powers. But since i can tank a tactical cube on elite with no difficulty i should do OK in PVP.
PS: i may need to add that i'm a engi in a free oddy...so that makes tanking easy anyway.
any flaw in my build? also reason for full 9 in bats is because i like to use wep bats and for 20 secs i have no wep drain. also i knock my sheilds alot and put the power in the aux system. and ofc i have 2 copies of epts. that keeps my sheild power high. this can be either an engy build or a tact in tank build. just engy dont have the skill sap.
if it was my tactical built i would consider respeccing immediately. You should see this list before speccing 9 points in any skill. http://home.comcast.net/~amicus/Skill%20Point%20Effects.htm makes spending 9 points in most skills redundent. but since you need to do it to reach the next tier, batteries isn't a bad decission here. I think to spend 9 points, if you want to spend it, it makes the most sense in the first tier. The cheapest and the most beneficial. 1000 points for a 1-2% increase is worth it. i prefer 7 points in the first tier, since the 7th point already is a step up from 6 points. the 8th brings nothing mostly and the 9th is a further step up.
Well mostly I don't run ASIF, cause I built my vorcha as an offense platform. Basically it's fire + that of decloaking raptors and bops is made to overwhelm a given target. The warp plas 3, is there to force premature hazard burning, or just as a straight up slow, and heavy DOT (since it's tac buffable still)
I'd move aux performance down a couple steps and raise Warp Core Efficiency since Efficiency does overall net you more gain when your power is < 75 on a slider. Other than that it looks pretty solid. Personally though I'm not really a fan of Tac Oddys, as I feel the ship is too slow to really hose people in dps.
ahh thank you mav. yes i agree tacts should not be in oddys. but with dem 3 and an alpha it kinda is sick. tho i know there are other tanks that are better for the job. ive never really bothered with anything other then an escourt. i just moved on to the oddy for my engy and even newer with sci in a carrier. i only ask you about these things because i am trying to learn every aspect of this game, the ins and outs really. i just like to know and try to understand. but thank you for your time mav. it actually is nice when pro players do respond. i remember a time in sto people kept this to themselves.
also 1 more thing i wanted to ask, you did not spec into subsystem rep. why? with all of the phaser procs going dont you want to bring that system back faster? on my escourt i was not speced into it. i could get disabled for what seemed like 5 hours. most im thinking was 7-10 secs. now my system comes back in about 2 secs. also i was told my red matter would get my systems back but it did not. after i speced that skill,(6 points) 2 secs and if longer because alot of my crew is dead my red matter actually works to get my systems back.
I hope that Cryptic look at the other ships of the Cruiser classes and start to work towards viable options other than the Oddy and Bort. There just isn't much else to go with, imho.
though I hear premature hazard burning is a common problem in many a pvper
I just want to take a moment, to thank the people that have read this thread and have either quietly added to their own builds, and or have posted their own contributions to this thread.
I also want to thank those, that have sent me PMs either here or in game, asking for further help or simply thanking me for making this thread. This sort of thing encourages me to keep going with this thread, and my other help desk type threads.
Threads like this don't happen without the above two things, and I think this thread has come to symbolize alot of what I love about this community. The amount of contributions to this thread have been tremendous, both in terms of build suggestions, skill point allotments, questions of my stuff, as well as the various pms and thank you posts.
So, thanks again everyone that has kept reading this thread and kept things going. I couldn't have done it without you guys.
I hope that Cryptic look at the other ships of the Cruiser classes and start to work towards viable options other than the Oddy and Bort. There just isn't much else to go with, imho.
Yeah, I really miss seeing non Oddys.
The Bortas at least seems to have not totally replaced the other klink ships.. but the Oddy is like everything the other ships want to be, (for non tacs at least) which I think is rather sad.

on a different note.. I'll get around to posting the Orion Ball Sack soon. Honest. Really I mean it this time!

Not going to post until I do more testing.
Updated my DOFF post.
