"Emergency" means database corruption, server room power outage, critical bug (showstopper) rampaging the game...
You wouldn't want your captains turned into tribbles? Permanently deleted? Turned into ensigns lvl -150? Restored to a state from couple of days ago? Loosing all of your progres, all your stuffz...

Yes so close and OH NO instability is happening and now I am going to suggest Cryptic make a multi vector bop that uses its pylons as shurikens to throw at enemy ships and explode while you fly around in the torpedo tube. Oh wait nevermind we already have that... its called abandon ship.

It still would be better than the lack of connection I got now... been averaging 20 laps of Memory Alpha ( or what ever is the nearest planet ) when the server stops letting me do anything ( even checking mail, equipping the crew, moving something to the hotbar ... )
But I am sure the server would take notice of what a Ensign -150 Tribble would want to do in a Type 8 shuttle!!!!

why is it i click on read more on the sto main page where it says emergency maintenance and it takes me to an atari page ? again a big Fail with a capital F !!!!
Guys? It wasn't completely without warning in game either. Channels 'Accolades' and 'TTS' both had mention of the update, and I mentioned it on STORP at least once.
Go to stowiki.org and check out their public channels guide. If you're on some of them, you can learn things like this, because people there are watching the forums! I found out from them well in advance, and wrapped up what I was doing.
Come to think of it, you should anyway, there's a major Organized PvP channel listed, for people starved to get a match going.
The server is going down in ~30mins for 1,5hrs so best not start any STFs.

Well we where in an STF when kicked out WITHOUT warning I was logged in for > 4h before we started the stf. In the stf there was no message in chat window nor a popup message that server will be shut down.
Not 30min before

Same at my teammates no one of us received ANYTHING.
I dont read everytime i start a stf if server might be shut down.
Normally i should be informed when i start the game so.....
i would suggest some people should THINK before posting such "wise comments".
Well, isnt it standard procedure to Announce a server shut down Ingame is about to happen. as far as ive seen alot of games making an emergancy shutdown they usually always warn 5 minuttes before it happens unless the server entirely crashes.
Or any reason given as to why.......yes...emergency maintenance....but for what?
I think they want us to get like super duper mad and then give us something really cool so then they can hear WE LOVE YOU AGAIN. Yep yep yep thats whats going on... Really though I think its content for the KDF with a new android race that looks like a Klingon that has 12 arms and swings 6 bat'leths at super sonic speed.

no the respec token is most likely still active on your account since you need to talk to an npc to reset your skills and you get more then once to retrain out of one token

I find it very strange that they would move an emergency maintenance thread to General Community Feedback, where it's hardly noticable. If I were Cryptic, I would put this back where it belongs, namly under the Announcements thread...

They haven't been doing Their usual Modding today either...
Threads that usually would be closed in a spit-instant, are just being moved...
Perhaps the New Owners are instituting some new rules on Their first official Monday of ownership...
