    No....

You are missing the point... The two in the shield bubble are supposed to be counting... however there is a bug that is counting something twice with the 6 transports at the beginning of the mission. You should only "have" to loot 2 of the first 6, and then pick up the last 2 by disabling and looting the 2 that are in the bubble.

As long as you get at least 2 of the first set of transports, the optional objective should not be failing.

I have this fixed internally... I'm not certian it has made it to Holodeck....

The update to 50% disable is live, but the bug that kills when the freighters warp out is still there.

I've also noticed a new bug. I think you increased the time that they are disabled, however, it seems if you loot them after the original time frame, it doesn't count. I did the Attack Transport and Eriksson, and looted all 5 and 4 respectively, however, for some reason at least 1 didn't count in each mission.

Typically what I do is attack 1, then once that's disabled, attack the other, and try to loot the first. Well, that doesn't always go well (as there seems to be a small window between attacks that this will actually initiate and work). So, I ended up having to loot both ships once both were disabled.

After having at least one not count for both, I've since changed my tactic to disable, stop attacking, loot, and disable and had no issues. Either way, my guess is that somehow the old timer is still doing something, because even though the ship still shows as disabled, if you try to loot it too late, it doesn't count, even though you've actually looted it and it shows in your chat log that you looted it.

Also, please check with someone on the Eriksson fix, make sure it doesn't get lost in the cracks. :)

    Agreed :)

    Thanks for your work :)

Definitely, thanks for getting this implemented, and then tidying it up :).
    - the different tiers of crafting loot is perfect. I've capped my crafting, but it's something people will appreciate (and doesn't give us a huge advantage over the feds at LG).
    - the rest of the quests are fun. I've learnt to do eriksson by killing 4 outside the bubble, so I can't confirm whether it's fixed.

Something I haven't seen mentioned is (I think) Kern.

There's a satellite that is unguarded - it's very nice, you still have to slow down and wait for the weapons to charge up, but it makes a nice change from smashing fed ships every jump.

[of course I haven't done it since the patch, so it might be gone now!]

I am noticing a great deal of lag in Erikson for some reason.

Also, during the tribble testing of these it was mentioned that these "options" are geared towards Tactical Capts, and later options for the other branches would be added when you had time to work them out. Is that still the case?

Eriksson has weird freezes, the freighter count is bugged making this the most horrible map in whole KDF content.
Just one advice. Read the Bug Reports.

I have been mulling over this thread (yes I've read most of the previous pages...lol) and I have a suggestion for the freighters.

I think that once you have looted a freighter it should automatically be set to self-distruct (maybe that or have a pop-up option to send a virus to activate the self-distruct or beam over a torpedo to the ship whilst it's shields are down?) This would then set a 10 sec timer and get rid of the frieghter without having it warp out of the map after being looted. It would solve the problem of having looted freighters start up again and make you fail when they warp out of the map.

I know I'm relatively new to the game but I have had my own similar frustrations with both the freighter and Erikson missions where you disable, loot and then fail when they warp out of the system. Hope you don't mind this suggestion, would be cool to see it added in a future update maybe?

You sound like a real Klingon, my friend. :D

Phht. But I like blowing them up myself!
Sometimes I'm feeling generous when I get all their loot (also depends on the character, i.e. if I'm boarding with my Orion or my Klingon), but when some have escaped I always take it out on the others. :D

Gozer: Thanks for your continued efforts. <3

Well having an option to send a virus to start-up the freighter's self destruct sequence or having the ability to transport a torpedo over once the shields drop could be added just as an option that the player can choose to use or ignore via a bridge officer message or something similar, ignoring/cancelling the option would still allow you to destroy the freighter in the normal manner.... could be fun if it were added

Oh and slightly off topic but in the Deferi Dailies why is there no option for Klingons to rescue the deferi captives, there is only one option to fight and destroy....would be nice if you could approach the ship whilst cloaked, transport the captives off which then enitiates the fight sequence, even though I'm playing a klingon I still feel bad that the captives die each time because there is no option for klingons to rescue, so that part always fails in the mission logs

Hmm.. I can do this solo with a Guramba, barely.. Half the time I disable the transports, and a string of torps run in and do 10-15k damage a piece, blowing my resources up.

That said.. The whole system might be paying out too much..

I did 2x2 sorties yesterday (ie: did each mission twice) and walked away with

    302 samples
    13 Emblems
    6 Traces

And it took me roughly an hour.

I fail the Eriksson mission everytime because the moment a freighter warps out the mission fails.
Since the objective is to disable and loot 4 freighters ,it shouldnt matter what happens with the rest as long as i can manage to loot 4.This is not the case though. When a freighter warps out ,even if there are enough to still meet the objective the mission fails :(
Same thing with the Attack Transport mission.
Maybe i m missing something .Please someone tell me how to proceed with this mission ..

Well, you could argue that this is "compensation" for KDF players only now being able to start collecting anomalies. It's a pain in the firm Klingon butt to collect all the resources needed for crafting when you're a General but have to start from the bottom up in terms of R&D.

You need to be fast, therefore a Raptor/Guramba/BOP is better.

1: Be sure not to agro the patrols (the ships circling the base), decloak and kill the escort.
2: Disable both freighters and loot them.
3: Battery-evasive to the next two frieghters (be sure not to draw agro from the patrol)
    4: Decloak/kill escort
5: Disable both freighters and loot them

    Homefree

The main reason I fail from time to time, is because I simply do too much damage.. A freighter will get disabled, and I immediately switch target.. Only to see 2 Torps and a bunch of cannonshots hitting bare hull, blowing it up.

Gozer, thank you for all that you have done. We appreciate it. However, the changes you mentioned have not made it to the Holodeck yet. I can easily get 2 of the freighters in the Eriksson mission, sometimes even 3. But never 4. When I get 2 of the first 4, as soon as at least 1 of them leaves, its objective failed. No matter what. So hopefully soon, the full changes that you made will be out on the Holodeck. Until then, I will be cursing this mission everytime I do it. Again, thank you for your hard work; and Happy New Year!!

Also Gozer, I've filed some bug reports about this problem in the Transport raid. After I disable a freighter, when I scan them for their cargo, half the time I will not be able to collect it. The scan will complete, the items will come up on the screen and then when I press Take Items, they just vanish and I get nothing. I have lost a bunch of data samples and a few rare particle traces because of this problem.

Easiest way to fix these Freighter missions is to have us damage them to the point that they need parts to repair themselves. That way once they are dead in the water they stay that way.

Aren't these missions supposed to be fun and winnable?

They are winnable, and it isnt very hard to do it.. The only reason I ocassionly fail one of these, is if some quantums crit on their bare hull when disabled.

Why do people insist that fun = easy/boring

Well, based on blowing up the freighters, I'd say Mel is a tactical captain, which makes it easier than being a science captain. And that's better than being an engineer. And, of course, flies a tactical ship.

Myself, I can barely pull it off as a sci captain in a guramba with all rare Mk XII consoles and green Mk XII and purple Mk XI weapons, with 135 attack power. Since I don't use siege mode to try and get the optional objective, I could slightly increase my performance by swapping out my two DBBs for some extra DC/DHCs. But since I can do it with what I have, I don't bother.

Mel's list is pretty much what I do, minus the decloaking, of course.

The main difference if that for #1, I don't care about aggro'ing the patrols, I use Photonic Fleet and let it play with any extras while I blow up that first escort and go on to step 2. And for step 3, I use APA and evasive, possibly a deuterium surplus. And it is close, very close.

For step 2, I go for the ones that are heading right. For the second group, I go for the ones that are fleeing directly away from where you came into the system, not the ones fleeing left. Shorter distance, pythagorean theorem and all.

It is all about speed. You need to quickly loot the first freighters, then scoot and loot another pair of two.

Once the bug gets fixed on live, they'll be easy, since you'll only have to get 2 of the first 6 and can then fulfill the requirements with the 2 in the shield bubble.

Of course, there's always a second way to go:
    1. Ask for another klingon to work with you to get the optional.
    2. Have the lower level invite the higher level and match level.
    3. One goes after the freighters fleeing left, the other after right.
    4. Blow up the escorts.
    5. Disable freighters and loot.
    6. First one done tries to get the two fleeing directly away from spawn point.

I completed the basics for Bravo a few times, then after the last "maintenance" can't seem to do it?

I am an Engineer in a Hegh'ta and my successes were when I got taken down to below 50% and spawned some help to keep the escorts busy.

I used the advise I got here earlier: I Battlecloak and get in front of the lead group.

Thank you for the help. I will keep trying.

For the transport raid, you don't need to get in front of the lead group. For that, getting to within 10k of it is good enough, then start shooting it up from behind until the first escort pops. Then kill it. Then go back to shooting the front group (should be able to stop and loot 1 transport) until the new escort in range. Kill the new escort, then disable both of remaining front ships and loot them, followed by the rear 3.

The best way I've found to do these on a carrier or cruiser is to find a friend for eriksson/transports who's flying a bird, to do it with.

The best strategy for a carrier is to tank the escorts with your fighters/birds and drop a grav well on the freighter groups to hold them down while your buddy attacks & scans the freighters. A similar tactic works on cruisers, use your beam FAWs to aggro the escorts & let your bud just do the freighters. A little solidarity will get you those 5 shiny emblems meanwhile at the legion of doom...

Cryptic is still working on implementing additional optional missions based on class.

I've tried the Eriksson mission every way I can think of. I can only get tops 3 of the first 6 freighters. The last 2 I can get once I drop the shields holding them in. I've tried not aggro'ing anything and it doesn't work. I've done it out of range of the escorts and they come after me. So thats a no win scenario. Then we have the Pi Canis Transport Raid. If I get a starfleet escort that comes in as the second ship, I have a good chance of getting the 5 freighters. But if a starfleet batteship comes, I will not get 5 freighters. It just does not happen. So that is one mission that an engineer in a cruiser has a very hard time to finish and will most likely fail it everytime. It is very frustrating. Again, I fly the Vor'cha retrofit, all antiproton weapons. I've tried cannons, turrets, beams, dual beams, etc. Nothing works. Any one have any advice besides me spec'ing to a BoP, or doing the mission on a team, I would greatly appreciate it.

Happy New Year to One and All

OK, I tried them again (i have lost track of how many times I have done these missions). The Eriksson Mission is the same as always. This time I got 3 out of the first 6, and then, BAM objective failed. Unfortunately, I can only get 2 or 3 freighters before the first 6 make it to the warp out point. Then I went to the Pi Canis Transport Raid. Here is where I got really, really mad. I started with the front 3 freighters, I disabled 1 of them, then started on the 2nd one. Meanwhile, I took the cargo from the first one. As soon as you take the first cargo, the support ship comes in. So I had 1 done and a 2nd disabled. I destroyed the escort and then I had to disable the 2nd one again and then the 3rd. I took the cargo from both of them, and then I went after the 3 rear freighters. I got 1, disabled it and beamed out the cargo, then I started on the 2nd one. One of the first freighters warped away, and BAM, optional objectives failed. After 1 ship warps away, you get a failure. I did not destroy any of them. There were 6 freighters on the map before the ship warped out. So yes I would say the missions are severely bugged. Hopefully very soon we will see these missions fixed so that we engineers in our cruisers can actually complete the optional objectives. I do not mind a challenge, but when it is as bugged as these are, it gets very annoying.

Happy New Year to One and All

Yes, if ANY freighter is destroyed or warp before you complete the secondary objectives, you will fail.

    Heres how I do them:

Transport raid: I get in front of the first group, and disable all 3 - Loot them and take out the ship that spawned behind me. - Then disable the remaining 3 freighters, loot them and kill the remaining Fed ship.
    Best result: 6/6 freighters

Eriksson: Cloak/MES and move into position (they wont move until they spot you).. Be sure to stay out of range of the patrol.. Kill the escort first then disable/loot.

Use a Battery/Evasive to get to the group "behind" (moving to the hyperpoint farthest from your spawnarea)

    Kill escort, disable freighters/loot.

Evasive toward the last group.. As soon as youre in range, grab one freighter with a tractor, disable it and kill the escort.. Then loot the freighter.

I havent been able to disable all 6 initial freighters, but Ive gotten 5 of them (just today infact) meaning Ive looted a total of 7 freighters in the Eriksson system plus the 2 anomalies.

Alternative suggestion I havent tried yet.

Disable freighters, then jam the escort and loot the stuff.. Battery/Evasive to next group and repeat.. Should cut off some precious seconds.

Finally, I was able to do the Eriksson mission by myself in my Vor'cha Battle Cruiser Retrofit. I went in the system, cloaked and then moved to the far side. I was using my Impulse Engines Mk XI [Speed] [Turn] [Full]. I moved out of reach of the 2 civilian patrol ships and then targeted the civilian escort. I used target shields 2 and HYT1 and EPtW1. Once that was gone, I used BO1 to get thru the first freighters shields. Then while I grabbed its cargo, I carefully went to work on the 2nd freighter (I say carefully because anyone who has done the missions knows that if you try to get a disabled freighters cargo and shoot another ship at the same time, there is a great chance that you will not get the 1st ships cargo, but it will count). I have lost so many data samples because of this bug. I know it has happened about 8 times today alone. After I did the 2nd ship I hit Evasive Maneuvers and then cloak and full impulse to get to the opposite group of ships. I disabled the freighters first, then I took out the escort. When I was done I had to shoot 1 of the freighters once and I got their cargo. I know I just made it because I saw the flash of the other 2 ships as they went to warp. I made it by a split second, but I made it. And it was about time too. Can I do it again? I do not know. I will find out tomorrow. I think it is a good idea for me to end todays gaming on a positive note, so it ends with that victory.:D
