2000 Cryptic Points. Is this a joke? That's insulting.
The Galaxy-X, a SINGLE freakin' ship, costs more than the GAME ITSELF (which you can get for like $15!).
This is microtransactions gone TOO FAR!
The only reason I'd ever want to see a Microtransaction go up that high is if like half or 75% of the money went straight to a donation fund for some good program (Make a Wish or something). But THIS expensive?
STO Microtransactions have officially gone too far.
Though if they don't charge a rather hefty price there would be a whole new round of uproar from those that got it through the referal program, even though those people would be able to buy it three or four times with the C-points they were given as compensation.
Am I before launch people were posting to get this ship in game cryptic gives them a way to get it by doing the raf, then they start crying I don't have 5 friends blah blah blah so cryptic puts it on the cstore and now people are crying it's too expensive. How is my statement ridiculous some people bought their ship for 225 dollars others spent hours of their time talking to people to recruit them then hours in game helping them. Now you can get it for a lousy 25 bucks and you're crying it's too much. I think my post sums it up pretty well. Have a coke and a smile

Yeah, paying 225 $ for a virtual item is a completely normal course of action, and playing the game with other people has to be a horrible pain. And people don't complain because it's too much. They complain because the Galaxy-X simply isn't worth it.

Where does it say 2000 Cryptic Points? I don't see it anywhere so I don't know where you're getting that figure from. For what it's worth, the TOS Enterprise was 800 so I don't see how this is insulting compared to that. To be clear, I'm not doubting your on the 2000 points but I can't see where you found it. Links? It isn't shown in game to me or on the site..

2000 sounds like a lot compared to everything else on the store but it's a unique ship, not a costume. Like the TOS Constitution Enterprise it's not a kitbash. Whether or not you think it's worth the cost is a personal thing, I just think it's in line with what they are asking for the (currently) only other unique ship.

The difference is that the other unique ship is actually better than the one in game. You have another engine console slot and phasers that level with you. The Galaxy-X has a cloak, its phaser lance and can equip dual cannons, however it pays with a low turn rate that makes the cannons pretty much useless, the phaser lance only good for first strikes and fewer weapon and tactical console slots than the normal assault cruiser. So you're paying 25 $ for style while nerfing yourself. I would've paid up to 15 $ because I really love the Galaxy-X, but everything higher is crazy. I could be convinced to pay 20 $ if they increased the turn rate to the level of the Negh'Var-class and added another tactical console slot. But at the moment: Hail to the Sovereign, Baby!

I love it how a good amount of people think it is a uber ship that is going to pwn us all.

That's not what the op stated read it again. as far as playing the game with other people yes its such a joy spending hours answering questions being at peoples beck and call dropping whatever it was I was doing to help them with things to try to keep them ingame so i could get my ship

Hehe, to be fair, if people say Galaxy-X they instantly think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UspfD7SW5Ns&feature=related
Just wait until the Endgame Intrepid is released. It will have an ablative hull armor generator that gives damage reduction and tractor immunity for 20 seconds and people will act as if it had permanent metaphasic shielding.

He didn't state it, but that's the core of the matter. The Galaxy-X isn't worth more than the game itself. And if it was that hard to keep your friends ingame maybe they didn't like it and shouldn't have played it at all? And you tried to keep them there just because you wanted your ship? Well.....

Well I think there is a good reason for all this complaining.
The Galaxy-X is just a slightly different ship in a game full of ships.
The Galaxy-X is not worth the trouble of recruiting 5 people and then baby sitting them for a month.
The Galaxy-X is not worth 25 dollars.
They are releasing other ships of the same power level, the Galaxy-X is a sample at best.
The only argument I would dismiss is the people who hate the fact that the C-Store exists in the first place.

Well, you could recruit 5 people and not get anything at all in return. That's bascially the "normal" state of affairs without referral programs. You also don't actually get the Galaxy-X for recruiting five people, but for recruiting the 5th person! The other 4 come each with their own perk.
The Galaxy-X is not worth 25 dollars.
I would recommend against buying it then. That's pretty much what I will do.
They are releasing other ships of the same power level, the Galaxy-X is a sample at best.
Yep. So we are in fact not paying for power (if we pay at all), but we pay for the unique look of the ship. And no matter how many Defiant and Intrepid tier 5 versions we get - they won't look like the Galaxy-X.
Personally, I am glad about that, since I generally don't like its look. But if I wanted that piece of the Startrek Action, I would pay it. There is no "real" value you an associate with a virtual item in a game. The question is how much you are willing to spend for a hobby, and how much "fun" this item will give you. That might make it work 25 $, 250 $, 2.5 $, or nothing at all.
Good that the price is high!
I don't want to see everyone and their dog fly around in a Galaxy X.
I will say that 25 bucks is a drop in the bucket for most people, I mean you may not play WoW at all, but I cant tell you how many sparkle ponies I saw when they were released.

its a luxury good.
compensate by not buying another luxury good this month.
They are releasing other ships of the same power level, the Galaxy-X is a sample at best.
Does anyone know when they release these other ships? Are they Cryptic's versions or the cannon designed ones brought up to tier 5 level?
I love my assault cruiser and advanced escort, (even though they NEED to give the sovereign some lovin and fix all the damned issues with it already!) I'm an R5. but I must admit, I have a tos connie, a galaxy, and an intrepid because they are classic ships, and to me, because of this, they are fun. The other tier 5 ships designed by Cryptic I can take or leave. Mostly leave.
I guess I'm just not much of a fan of their designs. To me, they look too busy... Just my opinion
I do a lot of PVE and really just want to play with classic Trek ships. One of the reasons I bought the game actually.
Honestly, I think that's why there's been such a demand for galaxy x., that plus the fact that people try to keep things fresh in a game that goes stale with content.
That's the main reasons I'd even consider buying a galaxy X after all.
If the C-store were the ONLY way to get this ship I would probably agree. However, since you can get it for FREE by recruiting people, I do not. You pick the option that works best for you, but you cant complain about YOUR choice.
I say it again either people are too lazy or cheap to do whats required to get what they want now we'll have a million threads about how it should be cheaper
Do yourself a favor and try to learn to express yourself without insulting other people. You'll find it is a useful life skill.
Twenty five bucks for a make believe spaceship in a video game? That's funny and sad at the same time. I think it should be named the U.S.S. Suckerprizer.
Theres nothing micro about that. Perhaps its a test, and if "successful" they'll just stop releasing "free" content and put everything on the C-store.
While still charging subscription fees.
interesting. could come to that, but if they did they should change over to a f2p setup.
Though if they don't charge a rather hefty price there would be a whole new round of uproar from those that got it through the referal program, even though those people would be able to buy it three or four times with the C-points they were given as compensation.
true, but remember these folks either 1. got folks ot join, 2. spent money out of their pocket. Cryptic changed it in midstream and did what they thought best to compensate those that had spent money/time.
I say it again either people are too lazy or cheap to do whats required to get what they want now we'll have a million threads about how it should be cheaper
Only twice we recieved 4000 cpoints as compensation
personal observation, your entitled to it. I dont agree with it, but that is my perogative as well.

EDIT:
And others paid 225$ for it (no pity here...) and we will be able to get the galaxy-x for a fraction of it.
