I can't quit, see the lifetime subscriber signature? I'm with this game until it crashes into the ground. What I -won't- be doing, however, is buying in to any more of Cryptic's promotions. Why purchase the Gold Foil Edition of STO with its exclusive Enterprise uniforms or get five more people to join STO for the USS Premonition exclusive when Cryptic's previous actions have shown that I don't have to 'go to bat' for them and instead I can simply wait two more weeks or months and buy whatever they're offering on their C-Store?
I agree. I won't buy into anything from cryptic ever again.
I know some have issues with Cryptic doing this. But think about it, Season 2's bearing down shortly after this weekend, this is a great opportunity for them to offer Sales in the C-Store, and after 2 breaks, there will be less advantages in purchasing the Galaxy-X.
They see that happening and know they'll make more sales by making this available now. You can't really blame them.
What is the issue. The people who got 5 referals STILL get the Galaxy X PLUS $50 worth of CP points.
You get the ship for FREE and icing and a cherry on top. People who didnt 5 referals have to BUY the ship.

You can't put a price on exclusive. You can shout that 'exlusive' to Cryptic does not mean forever, you can argue they never said it would be an exlusive item, but bottom line is they marketed it as a rare (aka, very hard to get) item to the average customer. In other words, Cyrptic engaged in really bad buisness ethics with their hardcore customer base.
And just for the record, speaking for myself and a few I talked to, we don't mind that the Galaxy X was moved from the referral program into the C-Store. What we do mind was instead of getting a new exlusive item or a promise for one down the road, we were giving Cryptic Points, which in my instance, does nothing because I already OWN most of what is on the C-Store.

Well, Mr Moneybags, sounds like you need to buy more slots (at 850 Pts per pack of 4) and spin some more toons. I bet you bought your five referrals yourself, in which case just sit back and enjoy the ride.
so I've seen about 8k threads of people complaing about 'exclusives' in the cstore and the galaxy-x blah blah blah. I think its great to see the new items in the cstore. Now i can get some things for my toons that I otherwise wouldn't. They aren't game changing. Personally I think cryptic should have made the galaxy-x a t1 ship like the enterprise tos ship. by the time you hit t2 the ship would be unimportant and nobody would be crying about it anymore. I say more power to the people who have the money to waste on this ship in the cstore. to those that went out and paid for 5 copies fo the game and paid for 5 subs, you deserve what ya got.

First off, the Galaxy-X is an iconic ship (not as iconic as the TOS Constituion, but still iconic). Secondly, it's a Galaxy (T4) refit. It wouldn't make any sense whatsoever to demote it to anything less than a T4.
And if you've been reading the threads, some people have spouted definitions for "exclusive", "unique", "perk", "bonus", etc. But those don't really mean anything as they can be interpreted in so many different ways. The problem a lot of us have had is that Cryptic keeps bending to what (supposedly) the majority wanted, namely the items for next-to-nothing for little-to-no-work.
Myself (and others) have had no problems with sharing our toys, but we kept saying that the C-Store is not one of them. It was already pretty bogged down with fluff, but now everything that was meant for one specific promotion can be gotten for mere peanuts. I was a proponent of the Veterans rewards but I got shot down by people on both sides of the debate, being told that it was a bad idea...well, the C-Store (especially this soon in the game's life) is a worse move, IMHO.
I don't feel for the people who dumped $225 to get the ship, but I DO feel for the people who legitimately went out and used the RAF for what it was meant to do: bring more people to the game. I felt for the CO lifers when they got the shaft and wanted to see something given back to them. I still feel that Cryptic should have waited longer to consider giving the items out in any other way...hell, you can still get the vendor items from the VENDORS THEMSELVES!
Unfortunately, Cryptic opened up Pandora's Box and have set a bad precedent with future promotions. First off, with the exception of the "I want it now" crowd, people would not participate in anything the company decides to offer in the future when they can just wait a month or two for it to be put up for sale for almost nothing. Secondly, it has eroded player trust...to the point where people are leaving because they can't stand Cryptari's business practices.

fun how this always boils down to "i do not want to refer new guys and grab some rewards along the way if said rewards will later be sold to the other customers.".
seriously,? how am i supposed to take you seriously when you complain about the honest RAF user getting shafted and then in the same passage yank the chain about how you're mad about how you have wasted your efforts.
does not compute.
So, did you refer people because you had the intent of raf in mind or because there was a carrot floating in front of you?

Neither. I did not attempt to recruit people because I felt that the game wasn't worth playing at that point, nor do I feel that it is right now. If I felt otherwise, thinking that the game was worth playing, then I would have spread the word without the carrot dangling on a stick. I was also one of the ones that said that using the Galaxy-X as said carrot wasn't right.
Also, my comment was a generalization and one that I noticed that a lot of people have made. Would I continue to participate in future promotions? Depends on the promotion. My point is that people have begged for these items on the C-Store and they got what they wanted.
Cryptic needs to put their foot down and stick to their promises or they'll continue to bleed subs, whether it's at a slow trickle or gushing from a deep wound.
And please, refrain from attacking me and putting words in my mouth without doing some research first. Read my previous posts on this matter and you'll see that I'm hardly affected by this mess at all.
I have yet to encounter one that can best my Fleet Escort in PvP so eventually people will mothball them and go back to one of their older ships or one of the new ones coming up.

Indeed. Just that the new T5 refits have TWO commmander BO slots is rather stunning. That opens up a lot of tactical options, to say nothing of the special abilities.
Comments
ALL equipment is still unobtainable, except by exclusive:
Red matter capacitor
Automated Defence Turret
Phaser Satelite Turret
persoanl Chromodynamic Armor
personal Metaphasic (?) shield
TR-116 Rifle
Neodium Deflector
EMH Science Console
But, per Cryptic policy, they will EVENTUALLY make the c-store.

And the Del Taco Shuttlecraft Type-8
I'm sure there are others as well so so much for the cherry on top.

/ agreed completely!
just my 2 cents.
