Official Galaxy-X to C-Store complaint thread

As I've stated in other threads I can't forgive this, even in the face of getting an extra number of points in the C-Store. To put a ship into the C-Store barely two weeks after it was actually made to work for those of us that referred players to the game and when some referral players don't even have the ship yet is just wrong. Especially after how the forums raged for it being put on the C-Store to begin with.
Cryptic could have easily caved then and put it on the C-Store, but no, you had to sucker people into recruiting for you and then immediately turn around and cave only AFTER you got what you wanted. This is the last straw, Cryptic, I've gone to bat for you again and again, pre-orders, collectors sets, lifetime subscriptions, recruiting. I'm not ever going to take one of your promotions seriously ever again.

If you did it properly, there was no cost to you, and you now have five friends that you could play with.
If you went and bought five copies and subscriptions yourself just to obtain a few extra lines of code and polygons, then it's true what they say about fools and their money.
Frankly either way i have no sympathy for you
This is the first MMO I've ever been involved with. Someone tell me, is the scope of this sense of entitlement common to all these games or is it just here were it seems to prosper?

I can't quit, see the lifetime subscriber signature? I'm with this game until it crashes into the ground.
As for my argument, it's actually pretty simple. When Cryptic first announced the Galaxy-X was going to be offered as a referral bonus exclusive, players raged and said they should never do such a thing. Cryptic stated that it was going to be a referral bonus for the forseeable future and stuck with it in spite of players being angry about it.
One month later, the Galaxy-X is supposed to be available, except it isn't due to bugs. Two weeks later and its finally fixed so we can actually claim and play it. Two weeks after that and its already up on the C-Store for purchase by anybody. Now, if Cryptic was going to do this why not put it on the C-Store in the first place? Instead they made it seem like it was a reward that was very difficult and hard to get for putting out effort towards their game.
Except those five friends already quit due to their exclusives being put up on the C-Store and other bad PR choices made my Cryptic.
No, I just wanted to have a thread where those that were angry could post instead of 8000 posts being scattered over 8000 threads as happened with the earlier pre-order annoucements,
but the price should keep it from being everywhere at least.
I haven't played other MMOs where you could buy items so I can't comment on the last part of your message Drakkos.
The rest of your post sums up my thoughts on this and other rage threads about it. I noticed that you say your 'friends' quit already because their exclusives were no longer exclusive? That sounds even more stupid than your anger over this. They quit a game because other people got items they had? If that's really true then they weren't playing for the game, only for the items and to feel exclusive in my opinion.
I paid for a specific version that had items I thought were good, I've had them since launch and now other people can get them if they join too. I don't feel cheated or like my items are now not worth having. I paid for the GAME, not the exclusives. Yes, I picked a version with specific items I thought I'd get most use out of but that was my choice. I could have picked the basic game and got nothing, I didn't, and I'm still not even close to 1% as angry as you are.
I'll state what has been said over and over. The Galaxy X was NEVER referred to as exclusive, only as a reward for getting five 'friends' into the game. You have your five referrals, you have your ship, whether your 'friends' are still playing or not you got it for free. There is no issue.....

You're incorrect on that and there are several threads about it that were posted when the AGT Galaxy was originally brought up arguing about whether it should remain exclusive or not. That being said, you've stated you don't agree with my opinion and that's perfectly fine, I made my opinion clear and you've made yours clear. For you there's no issue, for me, there is one. Simple as that.
And, yes, unlike others, I am aware that 'exclusive' doesn't mean 'forever' or anything near the point. However, two weeks is more than a little ridiculous. What doe amuse me, though, is that I jokingly said something like 'wait two weeks for the Galaxy-X to be on the C-Store' back during the earlier rage threads about the pre-order exclusives and it became a self-fufilling prophecy.
Yes, because you know me, Kudach. I'm sure you've gone through the many, many threads I've posted in and analyzed them to the Nth degree.
And as it stands, unless you make the mistake of buing your referrals instead of finding people to refer to (that pay their own subscription cost), you still get the Galaxy-X free of charge. (And unlike someone buying the referrals himself, people you actually recruit actually get something out of the subscription cost. Not the Galaxy X, but an entire game!).

Everyone who did the "hard work" got what he deserved:
5 Friends(priceless) which will populate the Universe in STO, a Galaxy X (25$), and 2000 Cryptic Points (25$), and some even got the 4000 CP "extra".

If they are not happy about that they should express their gratitude to the "Saboteurs" of the Referral-Programm, the Group of Persons who want everything at once, even at the Price of 5 STO-Boxes and 5x1 Month subscrition.

Yes, I'm aware I recieved the Galaxy-X free of charge and 4000 Cryptic points and all that. My argument isn't against that, it's against the duplicitous business practices Cryptic's marketing department has been doing.
Regardless, Cryptic's Marketing department made the choice to make the Galaxy-X available on the C-Store only after the fact. The lesson to take from it is simply not to take part in any of Cryptic's promotional offers in the future. Simple as that.
What it sounds like you are saying, imo, is that you are upset that you were only special for 2 weeks. Well when I was younger my mommy told me I was special too. You got your ship, you got your cp and you are still unhappy, and I would guess that that would be related to the possibility that you did indeed purchase the other copies of the game yourself, thats the only plausible explanation I can possibly think of. So those who dont have it pay 25 bucks (give or take) while you paid anywhere from 100 plus. Now if that is the case then you also need to realize that this is not cryptics fault, no one can be blamed for your itchy spending finger except for you. I am not going to deny that it was too soon to be put up on the store, I am also not going to deny that I am going to buy it, but what i will say is you sir need to find joy in things other then virtual epeen strokers..or virtual property however you want to word it. Go outside, hang out with these friends you claim you invited to the game, take a break from STO or whatever you need to do to get over the fact that this IS happening and theres nothing you or anyone else can do about it besides sound like a 2 year old.

You simply should not put canon icons into programs like that and expect people not to explode over it.
If they added a ship they made themselves - noone would have complained.
So if I get a bunch of people to cry, I can get the baseball card industry to make more limited edition cards and devalue everyone else? Fascinating; I guess the whole business tailors to their best customers theory was wrong. Thanks for clearing that up.
Unfortunately it is commonplace in pretty much all MMO's i've played thusfar (WoW, FFXI, and a few other obscure ones i wont mention)
Oh and another note, i have heard/read mix opinions about how preorder "exclusives" are all in c-store now. Actually they are not, i never saw red matter cap. or a few other things go in. I had read from another OP (i wish i could give credit to, sry) that so far up till now that most items that went into c-store were not game breaking. Gal-X, i dont know but if its made avail to everyone then i dont see it being game breaking. As far as entitlement, its a game. I do understand wanting to be the most leet, or having the only shiny in the land. Im glad its not like WoW or FFXI where your camping a spot for a week with 200+ ppl for a 10% drop chance. Less stress for me and more enjoyable gaming.
maybe i just dont have time/desire to complain about a game. If i dont like it ill go play something else, im a pre order beta testing lifer too. i dont see a problem. in the end the point is to have fun right?
If your here to gallivant around in shiny and be all look at me and what i have and what u dont, then so be it. but dont be surprised at the response you get (shouldn't be by now from what i see)

Well it would've been good as most wanted it if cryptic stuck to their guns and said there will be absolutely no other way to get this ship I bet more people would've at least tried instead of coming here for hours a day and complaining about it

Um, hate to burst your bubble, but they ALREADY put edition items up for sale:
DS9 Unis, TNG Unis, TOS Unis, Joined Trill, KHAAAN Emote, Bloodwine Emote, NX Ship Registry
The difference between them and the Red Matter Capacitor, Automated Defense Turret, etc. are that the ones put up for sale are not game-breaking items while the ones still "exclusive" are. With the Galaxy-X going up on the C-Store they broke their promise not to have anything that is potentially game-breaking. There's nothing stopping them from putting the rest of the pre-order vendor and edition bonus items up now. In fact, I think they should just to be fair to the rest of us.
This is what should happen.
The playing field should be leveled, and they should just go ahead and put everything in the C-Store.
How exactly would that be leveling the playing field as you still need CP (aka, money) to get the items? Those with money will have it and those who don't won't.
You realize that only those who have a lot of money, or at the very least can justify using said money, will be able to use the C-store to buy stuff right? The playing field will become even MORE uneven.
Why do you think Pvp in F2P game's is so broken? Because developers in those games put special weapons on their stores for real cash and those weapons give a VERY unfair advantage in gameplay over those who can't afford to buy those items.
PS, fought one then a pair of Galaxy-Xs just now... they are hardly strong. My Star Cruiser was running rings around them, and i defeated one in a duel.
Phaser lance is a PITA, but it's really just a strong beam overload thats hard to aim. It looks damn cool though. The third nacelle works pretty well for being a hackish addon
