People have to reAlise you cant always get everything in life...time to wake up soon from fairy land

You do realize that this is a game service, not life?

Demand and supply. The Customers asked for a product, the company decided to deliver.
THAT is also a fact of real life and yet we are not trying to proclaim it to you like its some bloody revelation!

    just saying....

And for one id rather have not recieved the points if the item was to remain with the referal program like it should of. People have to relise you cant always get everything in life...time to wake up soon from fairy land

Why do others have to be denied something in order for you to enjoy it? If you got the ship through the referral program (and assuming you didn't pay for all your "referrals" yourself) then you got it for free, let others that want to pay for the ship to be able to. More people will then get more enjoyment out of the game, more ppl keep paying the sub and then we all win.

It was like with the pre-order bonuses, I'm glad they're in the C-store now. I paid a little extra to get some extra things and now others can do the same, just in a different way. I for one, do not enjoy my TNG uniform or pet tribble or anything else any less because more people now have them.

Well I'm still upset with Cryptic. I assume theyr'e compensatingt he people with 5 referrals becasue there are only three of them so it's good marketing spin at no cost to them. Whereas compensating people like me who lost out on their 'exclusives' would somehow have cost them something and been bad publicity.

I've got to wonder what's going on inside Cryptic, they're acting completely unreasonably.

How on earth is this a good thing? Again Cryptic mis-advertise a promotion around exclusives. Back tracking in a matter of no time, after people have spent money. While I'm not one of them, they know full well people went out and bought additional boxes just for the Galaxy-X, even if to suplement the referrals they managed to get.

$50 worth of CPs, while completely ignoring everyone else they pulled this move on? I think they are simply continueing to damage any decent reputation they have left. In fairness they should have refunded the money to anyone who could prove they purchased multiple copies. Who needs $50 worth of CPs. Is that all this game is becoming, a constant money grab?

They really need to change their approach, or chances are their next MMO will just fall flat. They are very quickly joining SOE on many's avoid list. Which is a shame.

it's good because some people with the referrals were not going to get the 50 dollars worth of C-store points because their people were upgraded, but would not bill until after the date that this happened. so the people who worked hard to get the referrals, but missed on a technicality are now able to get it. that is how it is a good thing.

Yes, that part is good for the few concerned if they actually want $50 worth of CPs. Although how about everyone else? Its an attempt to brush some dirt under a carpet. Overall, it is not a good move.

If they want to be decent, they need to start upholding what they advertise.

over all yes it was not good. but this part is about them a step in the way of fixing it, and that is what this thread is about. not about the pre-orders, not about the COLTS, it is about them fixing one thing with the galaxy-x problem, and I am saying thank you for taking that step, so maybe they will take a few more.

That's just ignoring the bump in the carpet.

Why give thanks for something that shouldn't even be occuring in the fist place?

in your opinion it should not be occurring in the fist place, but there are a lot more people who are happy now to get that 50 bucks because of this technicality, and their opinions could be thankful for it. it's a good thing that the world doesn't revolve around one opinion.

You also said it was overall wrong. So clearly it is not just my opinion.

Yes, people will be happy for something. That's doesn't make having to compensate them right. The situation simply shouldn't exist in the first instance.

well it is happening, it has happened, and nothing you or me can do about it. but they did take a step in the right direction to fixing, and I'm telling them thank you for taking a step in hopes that they will take more steps. that is what this thread is about.

I'm asking nicely, please stop trying to push your personal agenda on this thread. this has nothing to do with the COLTS, this has to deal with the referral people, so please if you must speak out on this make your own thread. I'm asking nicely.

You are aware that none of the official advertisement lists the Galaxy X are Exclusive or Even Unique right?
And its good that those who went out and bought 5 copies of the game for the ship are getting screwed over.
Because those who did that abused the system that is about adding active players to the game.

that's the point, by extending the time the people who did go out, and recruit now get the same reward.

personally im glad its open to everybody. we can now get the galaxy x by paying money in the c-store or by doing the more complex option of going through the referral and getting it for free along with some points/holographic bo etc. the $50 of CP was a nice touch as well that they did not have to do, and the extension of the date as well .

they should have made it clear from the start that it would be made available in the c-store later on to avoid confusion now but it was not hard to see that coming.

everybody begged them to make it available through means other than the referral program and they have, now everybody has the chance to own it through which ever method suits them best. i think this is a good thing and im happy with it.

it really does not bother me about losing 'exclusives'. ive lost some exclusives that i bought and have now become available through the c-store. it does not bother me one bit. i like the fact that everybody can have access to these items. i like the fact the extra money will help to keep sto going and secure its future and having multiple people using these items does not hamper my enjoyment.

You're one of the 'forum cabal' who have been completely against CO LTS getting anything back for their agreed contract with Crypric. Asking nicely isn't going to help, just stick to drowning everybody who disagrees with you in forum spam.

I've always noticed that the Dev team attempts to do right by the players, they just fall short sometimes in the players eyes because we are so very picky and touchy on so many things when it comes to MMO;s and Star Trek.

I don't think anyone here has any problems with the Dev team. It's the Marketing team and the Community Manager that screwed the pooch.

I agree with you Zodi, this is a good thing.

It's good that they're actually listening to us and attempting to compromise and solve problems.

What isn't good is that this had to be resolved via the forums, because it's the only way to contact Cryptic now. (Well actually it's not, their direct office numbers are listed in online phone books, but no one seems to notice whenever I post that info.)

You can easily see the huge increase in posts in the tech support forum, now that they've cancelled their customer service phone number and stopped responding to tickets. What's even worse is that despite multiple people posting their experiences with customer support on the forums, Cryptic employees continue to deny that there's even a problem.

I wonder if this thread was moved specifically for this ;-)

    Problem? What problem... ?
    :):p;)

Actually, it was the Marketing department that adjusted the cutoff date from 6-24-10 to 7-23-10, thereby allowing all the referrals that had purchased the game before the C-Store announcement to complete their first billing cycle. Marketing deserves the credit for fixing this one.

And marketing deserves the blame for most of the C-Store TRIBBLE. Don't forget what they've done to TRIBBLE people over. While it's a start in the right direction, it's currently like tossing a band-aid on a cut artery. The blood will continue to flow despite the efforts to contain it. Look at all of the posts in the last few weeks. People are up-in-arms about every decision made recently by the marketing department and I seriously doubt that it will die down any time soon. Come back on Friday to see the next marketing blunder...Liberated Borg in the C-Store? Most likely. STO going F2P? Probably not, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's announced before year's end.

Jack, I have been involved in virtually all of the threads.

Your "Hot Button Issue", by a scan of your posts, is Mirror Universe uniforms. You bought Champions Online and the Champions Online Lifetime Subscription. You didn't pay $200 for the Mirror Universe uniforms. They were labeled as "Unique", not "Exclusive", which you accepted the offer (Exclusive was assigned to a CO costume that was also part of the offer)

EVERYONE lost something in the C-Store expansion. I lost close to a dozen items, as I had FOUR (4) game registrations on my account. Many others are in the same position, but the CO people are consistantly the biggest whiners on this forum. Makes me glad I didn't BUY CO, so I'm not directly associatable with this group.

three copies here, and I'm glad I did not buy CO also. ( because I don't like super hero games *rocks back and forth talking to himself* I can't get through the rings in time, I can't get through the rings in time. ;) ) 100 forum awesome points of you know what I'm talking about.

I'm actually quite shocked at this...

They choose to compensate 50+ people while completely ignoring hundreds if not thousands...

There's a good business choice for ya...

No wonder you're happy... You got your way... Through whining...

I'm glad I let my STO sub lapse... You STO people are some of the biggest whiners...

No, that's not fair, but it's just about a fair as your statement...

If this had not have happened, you would still be whining for the MU uniform...

It's easy to be smug when you get your way...

No, I did NOT pay $200.00 for the MU uniforms...because I did NOT BUY THE CO LTS!!! Reread my damn posts! I'm championing for those who DID shell out the money for the game. I feel that they got the worst of the deals thus far and I would like to see something for them. Why does everybody on these forums think that everyone is out for themselves?! I have lost very little in these dark deals so far. I only bought two...TWO copies of the game and the pre-order LTS to STAR TREK ONLINE. I want to see things done right for those who got sh** on by the marketing department.

All I see is whining...whining from BOTH F***ING SIDES!!! I try to help Cryptic come to a middle ground that would alienate as few people as possible but they go out and listen to the vocal few who feel that they have the right to get something for little-to-no effort/time/money/whatever while TRIBBLE over everyone else in the process. I also never said that these items should never be given out through other means...Veteran rewards...NOT the C-Store.

Lets just adjust this for accuracy:

I stated that IF the other preorder bonuses (Constitution Starship, Borg Bridge Officer, Tribble, etc) go into the C-Store, then the Mirror Universe Costumes go as well. No "Special Fiefdom" for the CO people. Please do not misquote me, as it insults your intelegence.

As I said earlier, CO people are the biggest winers on the board.

while I agree with this... my point is the fact that after they chose to compensate the galaxy-x people, the time of the cut off date cut off a lot of the people who earned the galaxy-x ( still waiting on the final billing ), and the people who bought five copies were the ones being rewarded cryptic chose to extend it a month, and in doing so gave the 50 bucks worth of c-store points to the people who worked for it.

but I agree compensate all or none. ( more so on the none part ) compensation for all of the people is most likely not going to happen because of the amount of money that would lose off of the c-store. ( even if it doesn't cost them at first to give out C-store point, but it cost them down the road when those people use the free points instead of buying points. )

Oh, ok... saying "If I see all MY stuff up in the C-Store and the MU isn't there, I'll DEMAND it cause it's the only uniform I don't have" (yes, a paraphrase; but I used less caps too ;)) isn't self serving and whining... uh-huh... sure...

    As I said earlier... smug....

BTW, what happened to you DEMANDING a refund of 2 of your purchased copies if YOUR stuff goes up in the C Store???

    Dropped that, didn't ya...

And you were plenty upset at the Gal X deadline... until they expanded it.... Happy now that you got what you want once again?

And, btw... if you're interested... I never ONCE stated I was upset at the MU uniform being offered... Because I'm not... and I don't own multiple versions of the game... I have nothing to gain here... Don't assume my motives without reading my posts, as it insults your intelligence....

I just hate seeing the company I love treat their customers this way... I WANT Cryptic to succeed, so I will speak up when I think they are making a horrible error...

And now compensation for ALL multiple copy buyers is the only way I can see out of this hole...
