They said "may", not "will". Although I think that with Romulans incoming, it will definitely put a higher emphasis on cloak detection.
Personally, I've been pushing for a scaled increase in Sensor Scan/Charged Particle Burst range, increase range by 5km per 10 Aux? I'd also like to see options between multiple ships to set up Tachyon Grid "traps" to snare cloaked ships trying to pass through... maybe a minigame that involves setting frequencies for your cloak, and a reciprocal minigame to set the frequencies detected by your sensors.

I don't know man, the fact that they are even willing to consider it is enough to give me pause. I've been incredibly supportive of this game so far but still Federation cloaking is a bit too far really.....
I hope that they go along a route similar to what you're suggesting with greater cloaking detection abilities for Science ships (I say science ships so that we still have different ship types in every match), but I won't hold my breath on it
