You guys do realize that Cryptic is run by Ferangi. They have the Rules of acquisition to live by.

    On a side note:

I'm happy with what they did with the C-Store. I wouldn't mind to much if they added the Automated Defense turret though, then i would have a good torpedo killer.

It really only works in close range, so its not that effective.

To be totally fair to the troll I mean OP, many FTP games have models where you literally BUY an increase in leveling speed and you can also BUY levels.

DDO just released a thing where you can start all characters at level 4 instead of Level 1 for a fee.

If STO were to go FTP I'd say this could actually happen, ditto with the idea of paying to get to specific sectors. FOr a while I played Wizard 101 (while = about a week) and it worked on the same model. Every 'zone' was $2, or you could pay $50 for all the zones, or you could pay $5/ month.

However, as long as they have a subscriptoin, they want to avoid having too much you pay for becuase thos of us paying a subscription expect access to the game "at large."

Personally, I dislike this model of game entirely. FlyFF, and DDO were like that and it really made the game a lot less fun. I'd rather pay my $15/month and get everything, and the odd thing from the C-store when I feel like it.

Ok, so since just about anything and everything is on the C-Store and nothing is sacred, I sat down and honestly thought of things to benefit players AND mostly Cryptic that we could get for various priced fees from the C-Store

Levels - Bought at on of those character slots but don't wanna grind through more Kill 10 Klingon b.s? Now for a small fee of 800 C-Store points you too can get alts leveled and fast! With each instance of Levels you buy from the C-Store you get a token to redeem in game to instantly level a character up one full level. Are you 8 levels from hitting RA5 at level 45? Don't feel like more work? No problem! Just visit the C-Store and you can make up those 8 levels fast!

Species Change - Just buy a cool new species to play as? Don't want to re-roll a new character for it or buy levels? Then use our handy dandy Species Change! Just 1200 Cryptic Points lets you swap dna from any of the cool species in game.

Auto Play - Remember wanting Auto Fire for all ship weapons in space combat? We'll we listened hard to the player base and put our ear to the ground. Now you no longer need to bind three dozen keys to skills, shields, items and movement! Our Auto Play feature is a special item equipment piece that fills a slot of your character equipment screen, activating it with a single keypress will auto target any enemies in range, use your skills, and conduct Fleet management business in Fleet chat all for you! Grab one today and change how you enjoy STO for just 2500 Cryptic Points.

Item Copy-ization - Only purchase a regular retail box copy? See that cool Borg Bridge Officer, or that totally wicked Galaxy X class ship? They too can be yours! Item Copy-Ization acts as a 5th Trait for your character, passive ability, whenever you encounter another player with some rare item you don't have, it's instantly duplicated on your account, forever! Why struggle to recruit 5 people to the game, when for just the low introductory price (subject to change based on popularity) of 4200 C-Store points, you can copy your own Galaxy X ship, or items too!

Coming soon in Season 2.5 update

All I took from this was-

"I pre-ordered STO and bought the lifetime sub for the exclusives. Now I don't feel special anymore :-( "

I'm content to have had a week's head start before launch and never have to pay a monthly fee for the rest of the game's lifespan.

Being able to change species isn't a bad idea, though. Blizzard did it.

Yes, but in many cases, when it comes to Blizzard, just because you can, doesn't mean you should. :P

Species change = actually a useful idea.

    Others = no. kthxbai.

In World of Warcraft, you can Change Sex, Change Faction and a Change Race option (aslong as you can find the same class as you), ect... for $10 each I believe

About the only good idea here....

It makes sense, most especially here where the potential for future species is more or less limitless.

If they play that up properly with lots of interesting new species additions they could make a pretty penny by offering a species change option.

On another note, faction change would be a teensy bit harder to implement in this case....

I agree, Faction change would be out of the Question I would think with STO...

But ya Cryptic wouldnt have anything to lose with adding the other Options like, Species Change and Sex Change... those 2 alone I would think would be the most used options in the C-Store

Also the creation of new Species Characters all the time would require you to delete others to make space for the new ones... let alone other characters you have for the other Factions... and some would rather stick with one Character other than making new ones all the time a new Species comes out

    Actually no.

It is already a bug in Ker'rat so might as well declare it a feature (okay - welcome to UO :) ) and make some cash off it.

Sweet - I got to dig Ultima Onlien in a post. That made my day.

Faction change... we could call it defecting ? and make it a Mission something like the Movie "Red October"...

However the Ship may have to be taken away from you once you reach the other side for lets say reverse engineering and testing ect.. ect...

The BOs should stay with you, also you get a new Frigate with that Faction to start off and you must earn the trust of the new faction... blah blah blah.... anyway something like that

Actually, Faction Change would be perfect for STO

Since Klingons got the jip on PvE content, grind a Fed to 45 then swap him over to the Klinks. Sure they're adding more PvE stuff for Klingons as time goes by, but in the mean time this would easily help bolster Klingon player numbers.. I honestly, cannot remember the last time I had a pvp match against Klingons.. since none queue up for RA5 pvp.

Why not, its happened in Trek before... I mean, you had the Maquis. Granted it wasn't really defecting, it was changing sides for them. Also, there was O'Brien's old Captain who went rogue and crossed into cardassian space to attack cardies.
