Having purchased multiple copies myself, I am glad it is offered. I am not mad, we jumped into STO early on and expected changes. The players that get the Joined Trill will need to re-grind them.
And if you went through and bought multiple copies of the game to get all the unique items that you could, well... you got more money than sense. Sorry. As for me, with my one copy of the game, my unique items from that, which I paid nothing extra to get... I'm quite happy.
bashing my ignorance is not appreciated...
although everyone was right... it was in the FAQ
""Q: Will the exclusives be offered as a microtransaction?

one thing to note - you may have noticed the new hair tech used in the caitian beards. Fur or hair? My caitian can't seem to get a hairdoo even though the caitian females in the TV show had actual Hair on their heads.

I bought the Borg Bridge Officer-Amazon Prorder because it was a "Limited time offer, available only while Preorder supplies last". During beta, the question was raised at that time if they would eventually sell the items through MTs. They said (at that time) that while the codes for certain packages may still be available with some packs, that the exact preorder bonuses would not be duplicated and sold in the C-store. I bought the Amazon Preorder because they said it was a limited run, something unique. Obviously they lied. I am not against special items for packages, or the c-store, but selling an item as unique bonus for preorder, and then changing your mind down the road to make more money is unethical. People bought multiple copies and they feel ripped off fine, but that is NOT me. I don't feel ripped off because someone bought multiple copies, I didn't. I feel ripped off because they went back on what they originally promised me when they sold me the item. There is a lack reciprocity here, and that needs to be corrected. I have supported Star Trek Online since Cryptic got a hold of it, but it seems like they are undermining their players they promised unique features in the beginning. Are they going to sell out the playable Liberated Borg? Maybe they will just sell the Photonic Bridge Officer and 'All Good Things' Galaxy Class in C-store in a couple months. Heck they already said Captain's Table will be passed out as Vet reward (not that I expected that one to stay lifer only).
The people who initially bought the preorders, did so to support the game from the beginning. And in turn they were promised a reward. Now Cryptic is going back on that, instead of rewarding customer loyalty, those of us that have been here since the beginning, they violate us.
When you bought more copies of the game, even if in your mind it was for bonus items, really all the money you spent was for another copy of the game. Thats it you get what you paid for plus the bonus of exclusivity of some items for the first 4 months of the game.
Anyways if this will help keep people playing then Im all for it.

Really??? The Pre-Order FAQ was posted only a few days after the 'Perks' were announced, and it has the following...
Q: Will the exclusives be offered as a microtransaction?
A: Not at launch, but somewhere down the road we may offer to let people purchases these if they did not pre-order.
so... I don't know if I'm the only one that sought out and bought multiple copies of the game based on package content, I specifically shelled out 80 dollars on a now unneeded copy of the game from Amazon.com just so i could have a Borg bridge officer... now the extras that i paid money for are now being thrown out to anyone through this C-Store... looking back had i know, i would have dumped the money in to Cryptic Points instead of buying another version of the game...
Just answer me this... are they going to sell EVERYTHING that the launch packages came with? or are they going to at least keep a couple things sacred for the people that spent their hard earned money EX: red matter generators, or the chromodynamic armor.... if they sell those items too I'm going to systematically hunt down people in charge of these C-Store travesties and deliver a well deserved round of pink bellies....
:mad::mad::mad:
As early as January, some of the Devs were saying that the different "exclusives" would probably end up in the C-Store. I'm sure most of us did not expect them this early. LOL. I too bought the CE from Amazon, but I'm ok with people being able to buy the stuff in the C-Store. Personally, I think that the rest of the items will appear in the C-Store, before too long. I wouldn't even be upset if they offered the Liberated Borg playable race, in the C-Store.
Ah yes the mighty Pre-Order FAQ page that got changed a dozen times alone between December 2009 and 2 February 2010. That page that listed the wrong preorders going to the wrong vendors for a time. Your source of unreliable information has confounded me. How dare I rely on my own memory instead of the fluidity of information found on a site wanting to cover its own butt. Maybe I should send you a picture of the box?
I also like how people assume when I am ticked about something that implies a threat of non-playment in STO. I never said that. I am a lifetime subscriber, I still intent to play. At the same time I expect Cryptic to provide equivalency.
Caitians are fine, other C-store items I am ****ed with. Looks like for the most part all the 'unique' in game items from pre-orders that you wouldn't be able to get unless you preordered are now available in c-store. This seriously ticks me off, especially when back before release they assured us they were not going to do this. Is Cryptic going to provide some sort of other bonus to those of us who invested in the preorders, or do they simply not care about customer loyalty?
I have to say this erks me, this really REALLY erks me. And from someone who invested in a lifetime sub, I am a bit paranoid about them selling us down the river in a year or so.
Actually, they were very clear that most of that stuff would eventually go into the C-Store. They said that there were no plans to do it at the time, but that the would probably go in, eventually.
Thanks for adding Caitians (and all of the other new C-Store items)!
I was calculating how many C-Points I'll need (about 1200-1300 to start), and I had a hearty laugh when I saw that the USS Enterprise is EIGHT HUNDRED C-Points! Naturally, I'm going to get it (even though it *is* a Cruiser), but I thought it was hilarious that that one item costs as much as 2/3 of the rest of my shopping cart ... combined!
Thanks VERY much, Cryptic for giving us access to these toys.
Ah yes the mighty Pre-Order FAQ page that got changed a dozen times alone between December 2009 and 2 February 2010. That page that listed the wrong preorders going to the wrong vendors for a time. .
So how does this change the validity of the quote???
Q: Will the exclusives be offered as a microtransaction?
A: Not at launch, but somewhere down the road we may offer to let people purchases these if they did not pre-order.
There was a lot of disinformation being spread in the Forums during Beta. Many people claimed that the 'Joined Trill' would have 5 species Traits, but was actually a misinterpretation of the 5 Skill bonuses that the 'Joined Trill' Trait gave... When I looked into this myself at the time, I could find no supporting dev posts to support this, but that didn't stop people from making that claim...
The people who initially bought the preorders, did so to support the game from the beginning. And in turn they were promised a reward. Now Cryptic is going back on that, instead of rewarding customer loyalty, those of us that have been here since the beginning, they violate us.
Okay, I'm probably in the top 2% of people who've spent money on this game. I have the Champs Lifetime that gave me the Mirror Uniforms. I have the Preorder Lifetime that gave me the Liberated Borg. I have the Collectors' Edition. I have the Digital Deluxe. Before all of this, I had the Rifle, the Borg B.O. (okay, that one was a gift from a friend, but bear with me), every possible uniform combination including the Wrath of Khan, the Multi-Spatial Shield, the Pre-refit Enterprise and the Del Taco shuttle. I have many, many shiny things, and have had them for quite a while. I have more character slots (and characters) than anyone else I know. I have Joined Trill, Pakled, Ferengi, Klingon, Tellurite and now Caitan Captain options. I am not rich, but when I have had spare cash, this has been what I've elected to spend it on. I did it because it was fun. I did it because I wanted the in-game kibble. I did it because it made me happy.
Now, a lot of those things are available for a lot less money in the C-Store
And I couldn't possibly, possibly care less.
Look, the nature of the world is this: it costs more to get stuff early. I knew that then. I know that every time I make an electronics purchase or a car purchase. The only time something's value appreciates is when it is rare and someone dies -- and since we can't sell either our accounts or the stuff on them, that doesn't apply.
Whether or not someone else gets the ability to play as a Joined Trill or wear a Mirror Universe halter top doesn't change my ability to do so. And if they got to do so for less money than I did, so what? I got to do it months before they did. I have all this stuff because I like the stuff, not because I like lording it over everyone else.
If Cryptic takes away your Targ and Tribble, retroactively turns your TOS Enterprise into a garbage scow and otherwise eliminates the stuff you bought from your account, by all means pitch a fit. But screaming about all this because someone else gets to have the cute shiny things is just petty.
If you didn't want the stuff, you shouldn't have bought it. If you only bought it so you could feel superior to the folks who didn't, I have little sympathy now. Play your own game. Enjoy your own game. Stop worrying about whether or not you got a raw deal -- you got exactly the deal you signed up for.
And as many people have pointed out, they said all along they would probably do this. I made my purchases knowing that possibility would eventually be a probability. And I didn't regret it then and I don't regret it now, because you know what? This is pretty cool kibble, and having it makes my game more fun, and I don't really mind if someone else gets to enjoy it too.
How dare I rely on my own memory instead of the fluidity of information found on a site wanting to cover its own butt. .
My memory of the same period of time, when all this was hashed out long before the preorders even opened for sale, was that they very carefully made it clear that all the stuff that were pre-orders then would likely become available through other means eventually.
So, if it's memory vs. memory, I'm going to trust mine over yours, since even then I remembered thinking "when they go ahead and do this think of how many people are going to assert they claimed the exact opposite of what they're really claiming now." That there's archival evidence to support it just seals it.
Let me ask you, seriously and honestly without any desire to anger you... what exactly are you losing by this? What can't you do today that you could do yesterday?
Hair would probably help a lot. Right now they are kinda weak looking. Like sticking a lion head onto a human body.
I take back the "weak looking" bit. They look much better ingame than how they appear in the official screenies. Still need hair though and since they don't have digitigrade feet I probably would have forgone the tail. Still though they look good.

I think it's a good start, and I think the faces are amazing. I'm hopeful that when they do the upgrades to the game hair they implement full manes (it only makes sense, since M'ress actually had a full mane). As for the digitgrade feet, I'm a little surprised they didn't pull some of the tech from Champions Online. But, there may have been skeletal issues.
Maybe about the time we get Edosans they'll be able to do paws.

This is exactly why I hope every day that my life and my future never ever rely on anyone else's memory or "eyewitness" testimony. I am not indicting your assertions or the person you are responding to, just observing how fickle a thing is memory and how susceptible it is to change over time. The concept of one's own memory as a immutable record of past events is a quaint fallacy at best.
Anyone who is married knows memory to be a capricious adversary. You live with someone and, at least ostensibly, you witnessed exactly the same event, saw and said exactly the same things, but let me tell you, your memory and your wife's memory of the same thing can be completely and totally different

Agreed, I think they did a great job on them. A mane and some fur patterns would be nice, but I'm pleased overall with what they did.
In the light of an invasion similar to the overbreeding of tribbles, Admiral Quinn has declared 'Open Season' on the Thunder-Cats. He is awarding free shuttlecrafts for every 100 heads broght in without the rest of the cat. When asked what to do with the rest, he said "Feed it to the tribbles."
I noticed that in the C-Store, the screenshot for the TOS uniforms shows both the male and the female wearing the male uniform. When this item is purchased from the c-store, will it also unlock the female version? This question applies also to the MU uniforms (which don't have a picture yet in the c-store)
Additional question.. the Tribble listed in the C-Store, is this in-fact the Rivera tribble? if so, I think that should be specifically spelled out in the listing. Otherwise very few seeing it in the C-Store will realise that this is "the special uber tribble that can't be bred ingame"
Since we are now selling my pre-order/retailer exclusive items, why is the Chromodynamic Armor, Multi-spatial Personal Shield, TR-116, Red Matter Capacitor and Automated Defense Battery not included on the C-Store?
Any DEV wanna answer why they are picking and choosing at this point?

I suspect that the first three have to do with specific contracts with specific retailers listing out time periods wherein that given store is the only place a given perk will be available.
I'm not sure why that would be true of the Red Matter Capacitor, mind, since that's a Collector's Edition perk and is not store specific. I think the same is true of the Automated Defense Turret.
On my side of things, I hope the Chromodynamic Armor and the Phaser Turret (not the Automated Defense Battery but the drop turret) will go in sooner or later.
Let me add my thanks and "Good Job" to Cryptic for how they handled the Catians. Very nice job. Can't wait to see additional traits added like Manes or spots as well.
Also, in light of the Catian launch, I think there is an item that is now CRITICAL and must be added to your replicator ....

Excellent! One suggestion for Caitians, though ... the tail. Unless they're running it should not stick out straight like that but rather hang down more in line with the spinal column. I know you guys used the CO model as a basis for the tail, and it does look a lot better than anything over on CO, but it shouldn't stick straight out like that. If nothing else, they'd be forever getting their tails caught in turbolift doors.

Saves me 800 C-points. Now if only the TR-118 rifle would show up. After reading The Needs of the Many, I want one.
Might it be possible to find out from the devs or mods, what the criteria are for things being put into the C-Store? It's rather confusing to see SOME pre-order items and other bennies, but not others. Could we get some word on how things are chosen for the c-Store?
