Federation gets THIS.

So, what do Klingons get?

The short end of the stick...AGAIN...

I have always thought those who said that Cryptic wants to drive Klingon players out, and have only Federation players, were a little crazy. However, I can no longer state such. The inclusion of this strongly supports their assertion.

My take from the other topic:

The most simplistic approach would be to add the large pods onto the Negh'ar model and give it a similar super-cannon, only the Disruptor version.
They could even call Negh'Var-X :p

Possibly firing two beams, one from each pod, although the resulting damage could still be the same.
Or if not beams than either large pulses of heavy torpedoes.
    Something that looks like this:

From what I've read Klingon's are only getting a couple PvE missions, Klingon's are getting the short end of the stick as usual.

    Your surprised?

It always hurts when the rose colored glasses come off. I feel your pain.

I use to think Cryptic cared about the game they put out, I even stopped someone from canceling a sub once with just a positive outlook of the game and what was coming down the line.

The simple truth is I think they are following a dodgy business plan. They seem to be catering to the largest part of the population that's left and the side that they think will draw new subs. They want to hook a player for the short term with fluff to keep the income ball rolling for the other projects. The goal is the cost of the game and two months or so of subs with maybe a few C-Store purchases or about 100$ per player.

Sadly, they seem to not be looking to get the game to keep players just to get them in for a short time for a few bucks and then hopefully at the end of this 3 MMO strategy try to do some population building and make the games stay alive and generating money as they learn from the 3 for maybe an AAA MMORPG a few years down the line.

Maybe the idea of being a company with 3 b-grade MMORPGs in 6 years or so will pay off, maybe it wont. But I really don't think the games going to really get better until they develop and release the 3rd MMO they have in the works. Once it's done they can focus on improving which ever of the 3 MMOs they feel is the most successful with the limited income of the other two and the better income of the 3rd.

Is it ethical? When does business care about ethics these days other then just enough fluff to get by?

    I'm not surprised, just disappointed.

Yeah, I know they are catering to the larger player base. A possibly smarter business model would be to diversify content to increase the total player base. However, I debate that STO is B-Grade. I think it is now C-Grade, rapidly heading towards F.

Possibly we should get the "klang" BoP? You can't tell me they made just one prototype.

Same here. I think I'm just resigned to the fact that we'll always get less than the Feds.

If I didn't have the lifetime sub, I wonder if I'd have canceled by now. I honestly can't say. I do know that I'm generally just logging on long enough to do the daily missions. In fact, I probably spend more time here on the forum than I do ingame.

Cryptic, I implore you, give us a dev of our own, if only for an hour or two per day, someone to represent the Klingon side of things. Someone to post here regularly about Klingon issues. Even if he has nothing to report, and says that, the attention would help me feel less neglected.

I think the problem is that Cryptic considers us players first, not Fed players or Klingon players, where most of us gravitate towards one or the other. I think they're possibly scratching their heads saying, "but we post all the time", not realizing that we (Klingons) don't recognize a post about Fed issues as addressing our concerns at all.

I really don't think they're ignoring us on purpose, but somebody up there needs to knock a few heads together and let them know. Stormy, if you're listening, pass on that we could really use some words of encouragement here, please.

Fed content reports might as well be no report for me. Everytime I see them get the world I get a little sick to the stomach...I feel more and more second class...I begin to resent both the Fed players who get it all and still want what we have or argue to remove what little we have...I begin to resent the Devs who seem to have written us off as expendable, but arent man enough to just come out in say it.

My feelings toward the Devs is more and more like that of a child toward their abusive parent...hate my existance in game, but I cant ring myself to leave because its all I have(for a Star Trek experience)...hope for the better lets me endure one more disappointment. I cant bring myself to leave, but I hope for the day that I do...it would be liberating.

My disapointment only feels worse than it is because the game is not progressing fast enough or in the direction of my expectations.
    Such is Life.
I still like STO and hang around waiting to see what happens next.

One more example today of the Dev favor. On Tribble the Devs are holding a contest and the winners get an Enterprise skin or some such.

When I asked what the Klingons get Fark told me "HONOR" well on Tribble Honor means .... NOTHING and on Holo just about as much.

    So what do Klingons get?

They get to be the Monster Faction to replace the dumb as a brick AI and whatever scraps the Feddy Bear whine train doesn't get nerfed.

So tired of of the open favoritism and out right dismissal of the Klingon faction.

I wonder how many times we have heard that line.

If I had half a penny every time someone posts that message to the Klingon faction, I could buy Cryptic, the LP, Paramount, Atari, and CBS.

Well maybe not but it is very very disappointing to be the after thought.

At least you're getting some content, imagine if this were LOTRO and you were a Monster-Play Only person. You'd never get any PvE content or special items.

    I hope it's a super carrier...

    with a 30 degree/sec turn rate.

I'd f'ucking refer 10 people to STO for that.

I'll see your 10 and raise you 10 more. Hell, I'd go to the mall and stand on a soapbox, giving out candy for that, and without the turn rate. :D

    WOW!

I just read the thread about the Galaxy X. Holy crow, that ship is a total beast. How are you supposed to even fight that?

It has, essentially, a freebie Beam Overload power. Sure it shares a global cooldown with normal Beam Overload, but that's not stopping you from picking up the normal power and having an extra boost every 2 minutes. The phaser lance essentially translates into an extra tactical power.

It has the officer power slots of a Star Cruiser, meaning this ship can have an extra heal that other Cruisers don't, or an extra support power-- whatever.

It also has cloak. It can equip Heavy Cannons like Escorts and Battle Cruisers.

This ship is essentially an Assault Cruiser + Star Cruiser + Battle Cruiser, all rolled into one. All it's missing is a console.

    It's way OP.

Dev said it would be on Tribble next Tuesday ;)

To be honest, Galaxy X is tthe most broken ship. Like a Vesvius from Wing Commander vs. the Victory.
Klingons get nothing to counter that beast

Heck, I've just posted in a topic on the General Discussion where a Fed is asking for the Orions to be a Fed race also. I mean haven't they "stolen" enough of the KDF already? Fed has playable Klingons already and now that Galaxy X.

I REALLY am curious how Season 2 patch will pan out because I'm growing more and more suspicious by the day about it when seeing the changes coming for the Feds. Episodic content for KDF is all good and well but if it's only like 3 missions, then what the heck is the point?!

So the biggest problem I've had with that particular issue is, I myself could never think of a ship to add. I'm old. My brain is slow, like a pakled. And I was just not seeing any options.

    Then THIS THREAD got posted.

    Blew me away.

All of the ideas are very Klingon flavored. Maybe there's some fine tuning and details that need to be ironed out. But as a whole, wow, that was exactly the type of suggestion/feedback I think this topic/issue needs. A concise, specific list of what to give Klingons that is all very very very Klingon specific.

I really dig the Referral ship idea:
Referral Ship: General Chang's BoP that fires while cloaked. Make it look like the T1 B'Rel and T1 B'Rel Refit. Would be the same size as the T1 but same stats as a T5 BoP. Give it target sub-systems just like a science ship. As for firing while cloaked, give the cloak a similar ability as Jam Sensors but with no timer. Just like Jam Sensors, the higher the Aux you have, the more damage you can do before decloaking. If you're careful and have high Aux, you can stay cloaked.

    That's what I call incentive.

Sure it might need some work. Some tweaking. But generally that's an amazing reward that I think would motivate just as much as a Fed-with-cloak motivates. And it's also something that is a very notable and fun piece of Klingon history.

Imagine quoting shakespeare when launching your torpedo from cloak.

    Good stuff.

Absence of public evidence is not absence of work on Cryptic's part.

...and neither is it evidence of work. The pattern of past behavior is not encouraging. At this point, I hope the Klingons get some overpowered BS like the Galaxy X. Then PvP will become an empty wasteland except for the blessed few who have these special ships. Then, Cryptic's failure will be complete.

The behaviour shown by Cryptic and the regular videos for Federation niceties paints one simpe picture.
At least no Dev showd up on the Klingon forum fro a long time to post anything.

Let's see... Klingons will be getting 8 storyline missions. Then there will be faction-agnostic missions. This means in Season 02, Federation players will not get any new storyline missions except those they have to "share" with Klingons.

And then there will be mostly faction-agnostic weekly episodes.
Do I want more? Yep. But I am getting something that I really want, and more of it on the Klingon side then on the Federation side. Sounds neat.

Yes, lets all celebrate the pittance and breadcrumbs they are finally allowing the Klingons to have.

    ...huzzah...
