Seriously this thing hasn't been Sticky yet? Totally in need of a sticky especially with the last post there about how to see your Aux effect.

eHip and Sparow, thanks for mindin' the store for me and helpin' people find their ways to Open Office. I've had OO listed in the OP for a long time, unfortunately it's such a Wall o' Text/Eye Crit I don't blame people for missing it.

I rephrased things and added some highlighting for emphasis. Hopefully that'll help.
Great Work... We have shared your Forum thread with everyone in our Guild (on both factions). It has met rounds of applause. Well Done, and thanks for all your effort.

    QAPLA!!!
I appreciate the feedback. Which Guild(s) are you with, BTW? I'll take the applause as a grand compliment. I'd take a further kindness if your Guildmates would drop a note here in this thread to keep it bumped/vote for Sticky. ;)

Bonne chance to you as well!

How do I get sticky? Does it involve super glue or some other adhesive? Or do I just take a lollipop from a kindergartner? LOL :D Seriously, thanks for the kind words.

Since the Aux instructions could get lost in the thread I added a link to them in the OP.

I tend to always fly around with my shields at 100, any other setting and my shields go down like there isn't any shields there at all.

Is this information still viable at this date?

Because I notice on the effiicency skills it mentions that it increases power levels for that system, butt he performance ones do not say anything about it at all in game.

    Yes, still very valid.

Efficiency skills / traits add to your power levels when the power level of that stat is 75 or less.

Performance skills simply add to the power level regardless of the setting (25-100).

I've got a ship captain with enough points spent that his 100/50/25/25 is around 120/70/50/50 (or so, can't remember exactly). But that is with consoles, skills, bridge officer, and captain traits. Don't forget that different ships have different power bonuses.

Yes. The Guide and Calculator are current.

The in-game skill tooltips are not completely detailed. For instance, no where in the Starship Engine Maintenance skill description does it say that it helps your ship's Hull Repair Rate (but it does).

I can assure you, with 100% confidence, that the Starship {Subsystem} Performance skill does increase the power level of it's particular subsystem. And unlike the Efficiencies, the affect of Performance skills occurs at all settings. Putting 9 levels into a Performance skill will raise that power level 9.7561 points.

Great to know. Thanks for the hard work and the reply. :)

Gonna have to adjust my build a little now which is ok since I need to respec some anyhow. Hit RA1 last night and haven't spent a single respec token yet hehe.

You're very welcome. Congrats on hitting RA1, welcome to the Admiralty! :D

Nice save on the tokens. You'll get two more (RAUP1 and VA1) by the time you reach The End. Then I think there's due to be one more rank. And I don't know if you've got your Veteran token or not... but the point is, the Tokens are finite. Sure you can spend Merits or C-Points for more... Another option, that I wish I'd have learned about sooner, is to copy your character to Tribble and try out the respec there. You can re-copy your character to Tribble over and over again, using only one of your tokens there to test each time, until you get the settings you want. Then apply those changes to your Holodeck toon.

Before I learned the above trick, while researching about Power settings (and other skills/stats), I think I respec'd about 10 times... yeah all the tokens gone, spent merits (20k a pop at the time, I see VA1 is 30k!), and even  bought a 'spec from the C-Store. >shame< :p

Had I known then, what I know now (about Tribble), I could have saved some efforts. Ah well, it was worth it. And I had fun in the doing, so that's what's important.

Yeah, I've been playing for a month now so I was fortunate enough to know about the character copy. Have abused the hell out of that LOL.

Used it on numerous times to play with new ship classes to see if I wanted to switch my Eng to something other than an escort and played with many powers as well hehe.

It's been a while, I thought I'd bump this up to the top. There might be some new/returning players here for the Weekly Missions that could use some help with their Power Settings. :D

So your shields perform way beyond the projected norms ( as advertised on the items description) when you run with higher or full power to your shields?
Example if i have 240 regen on my array and commonly run with 30% power to shields they are performing at slightly lower than the projected norm?
And if i goose the power sliders to take roughly 70% of my power this array will be running at more than double effectiveness?
I can really have a regen rate running at or around 500?

Stange. I'm busy for the rest of today, but will look into it tonight/tomorrow and get that fixed. Thanks Jedi!

That's right. There used to be a UI stat that showed your dynamic regeneration rate, but they took it out for some unknown reason, but the fact remains, the higher your Shield Power is, the faster it regens.

Want to test it? During an easy battle, try to let your shields get really busted. Afterwards, press U, click on your ship, then click on Defense. Scroll down a bit until you see your shield points. Write down the number. At 50 power you'll see that every six seconds each of your shield facings will recover 240 points. Raise your shield power to 100 and you'll get 720 points per tick! :D

wow that means one could effectively ignore a tier 1 ship entirely with a shield set up like this on max defense.
That is sick........I love it. LOL

Sorry about the delay. It really was a busy weekend. Real Life. Bah! Haha :D

Anyway, I've fixed the links (I hope). I'm trying something new in the way I've hosted the file.

Please post here let me know if you are able to download the file now.

It's fixed and I have downloaded it! Thanks a TON; this looks awseome.... I'm at work now and don't know my stats by heart, so this will have to wait 45 minutes.

I KNOW, I KNOW... where's my efficient Saurian to remind me?!

First, thanks for the OP and the upkeep Pat...

    Just a couple questions:
    1. Do Efficient BO's still stack? Just started an alt and was blessed enough to get an efficient Saurian. My Captain is efficient, and I have the Borg BO...so?
    2. Are you saying the BO trait does not contribute to the commander powers? Once one surpasses the BO trait value with efficient power skills , is the BO value null?

    Thanks again, great work!

Whew! Thanks for letting me know it's working now. And glad you're spending your company's time/money on STO ;)

Yeah, your ES doesn't sound that efficient, now does he? hahaha :p

Yes, Efficient BOs (whether "Amazon" (C-Store) or Saurian) do stack with Efficient Captain. The skill bonuses provided by BOs and Captain add to whatever Captain skill points you put into the Starship {Subsystem} Efficiency Skills regardless of your rank.

Proof: Go into system space. Press U. Click on your Captain, Status tab, and then the Skill-Based Stats: Space accordian. Scroll down to Engineering Stats. You will see (possibly amongst other skills):

    Starship Auxiliary Systems Efficiency:
    Starship Energy Weapon Efficiency:
    Starship Engine Efficiency:
    Starship Shield Efficiency:

Captain Efficiency Trait adds +10 to all four skills.
Each Efficient BO adds +5 to all four skills.

If your not yet a Commander you can't invest any points in those skills. But even if you spend zero points (either because you are not a Cmdr + or you choose to spend zero), you'll see a skill rating in there if you're an E Captain and/or have E BOs. When you invest Captain skills points you'll see a number based on the level in that skill:

    Level 1 = +10
    Level 2 = +18
    Level 3 = +24
    Level 4 = +30
    Level 5 = +36
    Level 6 = +40
    Level 7 = +44
    Level 8 = +48
    Level 9 = +52

Say you have the first skill (Aux) at level 2, the Energy Weap at 0, Eng at 7, and Shields at 9, you're Efficient and you have 1 E BO. You're skills will show:

    Starship Auxiliary Systems Efficiency: 33
    Starship Energy Weapon Efficiency: 15
    Starship Engine Efficiency: 59
    Starship Shield Efficiency: 67

These skills help various Captain/BO powers, but also increase your Ship's Power Settings when they are set below 75 (the lower the better). Hope that helps explain it.

At 50 Combar Impulse Engines have a slight top speed advantage. The differ bttween the slowst anf fatest is less than one Ippulse factor.mThe break point for Hyper Impu!se Engines is engine power 55.

More details are in my engine guide. The link is belpw in my sig.

Thanks for answering! The thing is i use the rare hyper impulse engine with 24 turn. And there is one like that that is combat engine but that one has one pont less in speed i think. But i guess i get the other advantages by using the right engine, like defense bonus, right?

Dunno if i feel the advantages from my combat engine with 24 turn and 13 speed over my hyper engine with 24 turn and 14 speed. The combart one is slower. (i have engine power 67/50) Guess i have to try it more.

Right. The Combat one would be slower. Combat Impulse Engines are more efficient at lower power levels (below 50). Hyper-Impulse Engines are more efficient at higher powers (above 50). If your Engine Power is 67/50 I'd expect you're going to want to use the Hyper.

So sorry..stupid me! I have 50/25 in engine power. And i don´t really notice any difference since putting a combat engine in.

The Combat Engine will have a slight edge at power level 5, but not one that you would obviously notice (1 Impulse Factor or less.
