I think our original goal of 100 pages was a little unambitious. We'll make that easy. :p

I used a trained rabbit. Malcolm knows that when my alarm goes off at 6:30 that it is time to get me up so I can feed him. I ingrained in his brain early on that alarm going off = me getting up = him getting food. So now my alarm goes off and Malcolm does what he can to expedite the him getting fed process.

Drifter was the same way. Rabbits have a great internal clock. If I was running late for work he would throw fits.

My cats do something similar, except when my alarm goes off, the sit on top of me. I think they equate the alrm with me leaving (for work) and they like it when I stay home

My old cat, Campbell, used to have an...interesting way of waking me up. When he decided it was time to eat, regardless of the actual time, he'd jump on my bed, very slowly walk up the side and around me so as to not disturb me, and then sit down next to my head. Then, he'd smack me in the face.

When I lived in Chicago, I shared an apartment with a guy I worked with. Whenever I was out of town at a client site, my cat would go sit in his doorway and stare at him. My roomie was one of those wierd people that would get wierded out by someone staring at him, even if he couldn't see it, so he would wake up freaking out because the cat was staring him down.

Malcolm is a big baby. One night I was staying at a friend's and it started storming. So Malcolm bolts into bed with my roommate and freaks her out.

Now we have an understanding that I am not allowed to be out on nights where it storms.
