Fixing the exchange so that it is sortable beyond just typing in a name
Fix auto entering enemy fights in the sectors
Memory alpha revamp-This needs to be just completely revamped but say with our own crafting stations so it is totally random when you unlock other scientists.
There should be more than 4 or 5 ranks in reality there should be many so people actually feel they are achieving something.
Get rid of the skill cap.
Make training your points at the begining of a new level not everytime you get a few points.
Space maps should be much much larger we have to remember this is space and we need time to travel places then you have room for other stuff within the maps
Make ships so that you can target a specific part of the ship like an engine, gun, cannon, shield and disable it
Mid-term requests
More high level content but with both the option of doing solo and with a group Lord of the rings online does this.
Make space flying more realistic instead of spiraling up and down.
More ship selection
Make planet maps larger with more to do on them.
Long-term requests
Make ships like a second home so that you can walk around the ships and use them for storage. Good example is Star Wars Galaxies ships
Make achievements a big deal add titles for achieving things like killing so many klingons or killing so many of one type of species. This can go above and beyond just killing stuff but there should be a page just for that.
Add Crafting to the game through memory alpha as above.
Randomly put a new species or planet within the game without notice so that there can be firsts and people actually feel they did discover something.
More options to sort the Exchange. Like by price and sub categories.
Better ship controls.. please let me fly straight up or straight down.
More life and more civilizations on alien planets.. if I'm going to have to scan 5 objects on a planet, at least make it exciting with some dangrous or interesting floura or fauna. Let there be a chance to stumble on something interesting like special loot or a mission that takes you into a cave...
Mid term:
More ships/classes. Can we have something between an escort and a cruiser like a destroyer? And somethign between Science and Cruiser like Frigates? Call them hybrids.
Long Term:
Content!!!!
I'd also love episodes that take place on my own ship. Holodeck accidents, repeling boarders that came on while discovering an alien world on a charting mission, solving a "who done it", etc. You have thousands of episodes of stories to harvest from, you don't even have to get that creative.
So far most of the requests I do have are already addressed..in no real order:
Primary:
1: Better ship designs, Those varaints in the Exploratory Cruiser section are not appealing (I'd intiate self destruct just to put the ship out of its misery). Also the pylons on the Sovereign Class are not curved, a bit trivial but it is a bit irritating to look at. The models designed for Bridge Commander were really accurate and even used for a mod for Galactic Civilizations 2.
2: Allow customization of personal equipment. Make it to where an engineer has to reach a certain skill level or rank to be able to modify equipment. If we can customize the ship, why not our ground gear.
3: More diplomatic missions with REAL choices to make and ramifications for those choices. Actually, more missions in general.
Secondary:
1: Option for an Admiral style uniform. A tunic instead of the traditional shirt.
2: 360 rotation for the ship instead of the spiral turn in order to reach enemies/objectives below or above you.
3: (If possible)Functional Bridge/Ship interiors.
Overall Im happy with the game. Its still early and I know Cryptic's primary concern will be bug hunting for the next few months. Once STO gets stable on its feet, I can't wait for the natural evolution of this game that will put a smile on everyone's face. That way we can get the bad taste of JJ Abram's movie out of our mouth's.
Short-Term:
Provide an icon for every single effect, especially those with a random chance, and include the time to expire. If I'm healing I would like to be able to see when a teammate got viraled and I'd like to see just how often my plasma beams inflict the DoT
Allow ship-switching and mail at every main starbase. I'd rather not have to burn a transwarp every time I want to send a friend a new weapon.
Mid-Term:
Prevent Kamikaze attacks from being a primary attack option. Those skills should only be used in desperate situations, more desperate than just getting killed.
Make Memory Alpha viable in some way. I don't have any concrete suggestions, but I consider MA a waste of time and inventory space at this point.
More variety in PvP. You've made it a huge part of the game yet you've created so little content for it.
Introduce a hard mode.
Long-Term:
More variety of missions. I'd like to be able to level up without feeling like I'm forced to complete every mission that is presented to me.
Meaningful PvP, areas that allow open PvP with a flagging system
Instances that have more to do in them than whatever the current mission is. Allow large areas where players have a number of possible things to do, where they can fly around and see other players doing other things, and where you would have to be aware of the other faction's players being there but you would go there primarily for PvE. Borg Hunt is close but it's not enough.
Short Term
- Fix away team AI. My officers always jump INTO fire and OFF cliffs (usually into lava when they can). Or can't figure out how to walk through a doorway.
- No More Rubberband engines. It's tiring having to cross a sector 3 times just to get to the other side (sounds like a bad "Why did the chicken cross the road 3 times?" joke, my guess to an answer would be "Because he played too much STO"!)
- More Captain/Admiral Content. Many people are aready at or very near endgame, myself included, and I have to spend several hours each level grinding explores and defense because there aren't enough story missions. Which is really pointless in the end because there isnt anything to do once you reach admiral.
- 360 degree space. I know it is posted everywhere, but it's everywhere because people want it.
Mid Term
- Endgame Content. I know you may think I posted this already but no, my earlier point was about content between Commander and Admiral. This one is about wanting something to do with my friends AT Admiral. Besides grinding gear and BOff Points.
- Repecs. Need I say more? Ok, I will. At admiral I hate being stuck with countless skills I can't use. I know it's being worked on but I'd still like to see it sooner rather than later.
- Choices/Reputations. I know these are extremely difficult to work into a game so I won't hold my breath. Some examples would be the escort mission in romulan space where you murder all the scientists because the Ambassador is an Udine in disguise. I figured that out 5 minutes in a spent the whole mission wishing I could kill her instead of murdering the scientists but I couldn't. Another thing would be a Section 31 Arc; We already do a mission to chose between Starfleet or Section 31. Why not have it carry over; if you chose section 31 you get missions from section 31 to further one of their agendae. If you chose starfleet you come across missions to stop a section 31 plot.
Long Term
- More areas. I know these are coming as expansions in the future but it doesn't change the fact that I want to see them. I would love to go explore the Delta or Gamma Quadrants.
- Story. Right now the game contains 3 very seperate and rudimentary story arcs. None of which give the sense that the Federation is in any sort of trouble. The "Klingong Invasions/War" seems to be limited to the feds invading klingon space. The romulans are developing ultimate war ships that I went face to face with in a low level science ship and blew them out of the sky, not to mention having destroyed several research facilities and half of their fleet single handedly. As for the Cardassians, they have me hunting down terrorist cells an apparently all cardassians are part of this terrorist minority. It would be really nice if the story could make these factions really threatening and scary, even try to tie the war together so I don't feel like I'm moving between different games every time I go to a different sector.
- Levels/Skill points/Rank. I don't care that there IS a Skill Point Cap but It's too easy and too fast to reach skill point cap. Why can I reach Admiral in just over a week, and where do I go from there? Theres nothing beyond admiral in Star Fleet. Even with expansions in story and new zones what is the point? I can't go past admiral, I can't get a new ship or more abilities. I guess my main point here is that in the long term I'd like to SEE a long term, as it stand right now I might get 6-8 weeks of play out of the game to get an admiral of each class and a max Klingon, then just log in for a few days to play out each expansion (if ithe expansions are worth the cost) and then shelve the game again for a few months.
Fix log in issues
Hoster weapons when you beam down
Bank in AC
Mid Term
More area on your ship to explore
more missions
Long Term
Improve the Graphics
Improve the Mission types and allow for decision instead of all being pretty much the same.
voice commands on your ship" like calling red alert or raise shields etc..."
Either put away the skill cap or rework the skill system to work well with a cap.
More choices in missions, like one way combat the other one diplomatic or something.
Make cruiser a bit more comfortable to fly, either by giving them a kind of "loot-trector-beam" or increase the range for loot to be collected.
More costume, ehrm, I mean, uniform options.
Skirts for the TOS uniform!
More and better communication from the devs, for example what is planned according the skill cap, remove it when the content for level 50 is in (like in CoH where it was some weeks after release that you could level to 50)
Overhaul the Power Store - Seriously, Ground vs. Space, then by BO career.
Server Stability/Login Errors (ongoing, I know, but probably my #1 gripe right now)
Transwarp to different locations, at least 1 per sector block OR at least allow us to go back through our wormhole to the place we left.
Teams of 5 should create their own instance of exploration and defense missions. Defend the X sector missions should not divide up the team among 3 different instances
fix some character animations - backwards running targ are just weird.
be able to allocate a communications officer who always relays data from the ship. Why is my first officer telling me stuff when she is right next to me?
Add sound effects when you get hailed from the ship or another NPC
Continue rebalancing combat to be a tad more challenging
Improve descriptions in every way. If I look at a mission, I should know what system, in what sector block, and what the rewards are.
Medium Term
Add varied missions that are more challenging, non combat, diplomatic, or quest based. More exploration.
Add missions with a potential for failure, timers
Add missions where piloting matters (avoid the asteroids, etc)
Add missions where targeting doesn't work, or cat and mouse with a single ship (a'la Kirk v. Kahn, Mutara Nebula)
Add recurring villains, continue with rich storylines like City on the Edge . . .
Add more ship customization - no one wants flying carrots, but we should be able to choose things like Over-Under nacelles, etc.
Add active ship abilities to every class (as the science vessels now)
Allow BO Skill points to be banked, so you don't lose them. You earned them after all.
Separate BO skill points into ground points and space points which are earned in their respective missions. That way, you can spend points in a more realistic manner.
Long Term
The game itself is out of scale, I understand the rush to get you behind the wheel of a starship quick, but I really believe you should be given the choice in the beginning of running into a hangar bay and choosing between a Runabout and a Delta Flyer, and that's where you should have started, with 1 weapon slot in the nose and that's it. Make getting a starship a BIG deal, not just a prize in the bottom of a crack 'r jack box. Then move onto a single nacelle ship like the Kelvin from ST (2009), then to a Miranda
As stated before add more inherent ship powers. This can more easily justify ship class additions, not to mention adding an additional element into the class/ship choices.
Add hybrid ship classes, such as the ability to go Light Cruiser all the way up or speedy Scout ships or even massive Dreadnoughts.
add endgame content of colonization, first contacts, starbase construction.
Add cardassian/romulan as playable factions with both PvE and PvP content.
Add access to Delta Quadrant, etc.
Add holodeck missions.
Add missions to repel boarders, to board your enemy's vessel, and then have to choose between leaving your BO to man the bridge, or to repel boarders
Short Term:
1. Fix firing of ground weapons, either reinstate auto fire or allow for when fire button is pressed the weapon fires once the cool down is complete. Currently using pistol type weapons is a pain, as they don't respond correctly to key commands.
2. Fix Bridge Officer pathing, so they don't get stuck in doorways.
3. Fix disappearing commands from the tool bars.
Mid Term:
1. Allow switching of stored costume/uniform choices through the character screen, instead of having to visit a tailor on a starbase.
2. Locking Toolbars, so items can not be accidentally dragged off of them.
3. More costume/uniform slots. I have four unique costume choices but only 2 slots to save costumes.
4. Allow saving of uniforms only so we can have Bridge officers in the exact same uniform.
5. Balance rewards from Fleet Actions so not just the highest level ship or heaviest armed escort get the top place all the time.
Long Term
1. More complicated ground missions.
2. More clothing options.
3. More ship interior spaces.
4. View screen on bridge shows representation of ship's current location. If near a planet, shows ship in orbit, at a station, shows station, in sector space, shows star field, etc.
5. Tool kit for player created holo-deck/suite programs.
Let me start by saying that I'm really digging what you folks have cooked up thus far. Some really beautiful star systems, nebulas and planet-side environments out there. And the space combat and ground combat framework is pretty solid. But here are some things that I think could really add some polish to the game flavor and really evolve the gameplay into something with even more immersion.
Short Term:
-Please let my female characters have access to the Classic TOS miniskirt/minidress uniform options that I supposedly got as part of my D2D deluxe edition. I see the shirts and rank/emblems available, but that classic miniskirt/minidress for female characters is not in there (that I'm seeing).
-Auto-holster weapons in safe/civilian areas by default. (for the folks who posted about integrating holstering weapons, check your keybinds, it's been in there since beta)
-Some sort of progress tracking in Memory Alpha. I've no idea what I need to do to unlock the rest of the stations. Better yet, get rid of the requirement to build X components with Y person to unlock Z person altogether. I've got tons of data samples in my stash and have better equipment from missions or drops than the choices that I have to build with the initial person... so I can blindly waste my data samples to unlock Z person, or else simply let me shop around and see what they all have to offer or something.
Mid-term:
-Make tutorial skippable for Federation alts with something like the Klingon character start package once you've reached X level.
-Let you attach items to mail to send that nifty kit you found to your alt, etc.
-Implement some sort of policy on reducing the credit-spammers & power-leveling spammers. We've got the report spam option, and I've been using it liberally... thanks for the auto-ignore when reporting spam. Saves me a step.
Long-term:
-Space... the final frontier... I agree with many of the previous posts as far as ideas about expanding the space exploration portion of the game. That's ultimately what this is all about. The storyline combat sections of the game are fun and fine as is, but let's see a more involved aspect of active space exploration. These could be party-instanced so that you still get your MMO party fix, but striking out to explore whole systems. New alien lifeforms and civilizations to contact, and the intrigue of coming into contact with them and their various plots... preferably more original series style content in this vein.
-Branching storyline / dialogue choices... negotiation, diplomacy, intrigue... allow me to make meaningful choices in the progress of the mission which may affect its outcome.
-Perhaps change the space travel interface from a 3rd person system map to doing all space travel from my bridge... give it a purpose other than as a hangout. If I pop into combat, then you can pop me out of my bridge and back into 3rd person view. While we're on that topic, perhaps let me explore my ship. Let me have adventures on my ship. I picked up some weird hitchhiker while moving through system X, and now something wonky is happening upon my ship that I have to deal with. Let me interact with my bridge officers.
As everyone elses, also please fix the ground glitch where my character seems to automatically target an enemy even though I have not presses anything or told it to attack
Medium Term
Here's what I wrote in another thread about having in-ship missions, apart from just being able to walk around in it.
1) The obvious boarding parties, you have to capture/kill them before they sabotage your ship
2) Again with sabotage, we know there are a lot of romulan or cadasian etc spies in Starfleet, they can sabotage your ship and you then have to fix it.
3) Something I want in game, to sabotage your own ship in a minor way and then you get to see an engineer come and repair it and be in a grumpy mood :P
4) Go to sickbay and have to assist the EMH or Dr in creating an antdote or combat a virus.
5) Just walk about talk to your crew
6) Holodeck
7) Go to Engineering and save the ship from a Warp core breach
8) Relax in your quarters
9) Go see the ship counciller
10) Reallign and modify the ships defelctor dish to emit a pulse in order to kill disable something etc
Long Term
Well this is actually a complete overhaul but I think would make the game better: a guild ship.
They really should have made it so that you need x amount of players on a ship for it to function. and that the captain must earn their way to it. Or maybe kindda like a guild, the guild master is the captain and members of the guild can be officers on the ship. Make it a bit like Lost, where an engineer must press this button every x hours in order to vent the warp plasma, otherwise it can cause a breach.
And when it somes to battles, you have the main ppl on the bridge fighting other ships, whilst you have other people to be on alert to either force out boarding parties or having to reroute power to fix a breach, or have to fix an eps conduit to restore power to some weapons etc.
SO a guild can have more than one ship and people can transfer from one to another, or even how about owning your own guild starbase when you have a large enough guild and credits.
1) Improved tooltips, descriptions, and "flavor text" for pretty much everything. This, to me, is the lifeblood of immersion. "+12 sensor probes" does nothing for me, but a couple-sentence description of how "this console is designed to optimize the long-range study of phenomena in situations that either do not warrant or are too hazardous for a starship to approach" is pretty slick. Uncommon and rare consoles can even have bits of lore attached to them -- "one of only a handful built by the fleet yards at Utopia Planetia," or "designed by former USS Enterprise Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott." This would do so much for the game. Really!\
2) The elimination of bugs such as the Warzone/Borg Hunt bug, or the Psi Velorum patrol mission bug.
3) I would love it if bridge officers would follow suit when I holstered my weapon, and if weapons were automatically holstered when beaming to friendly locations.
Mid-term:
1) The addition of additional crafting mechanics -- whether it be "Scotty crafting," whereby resources and items are consumed when your Engineer temporarily buffs or repairs a ship system, or a more conventional but no less awesome crafting system along the lines of Star Wars: Galaxies, this game begs for a full, rich, and engaging crafting system. Memory Alpha is a start. It can't be the finish. Crafting is one of the best, most cost-effective ways to lend an MMO longevity and fun. It's something that can be worked on almost continually by players. Enriching it is as simple as scattering new recipes in along with a patch.
2) Improved variety and depth of PvP, PvE and "off-duty" content for all factions, including non-combat and exploratory missions. Surprise us with strange anomalies or more distress calls. Give us moral dilemmas. Give us a Kobayashi Maru.
3) Additional starship customization options -- more canonical and non-canonical pieces for all factions -- player and NPC alike. Right now, there are a large number of options... but we need to encounter more variety, particularly among NPC critters and starships.
Long-term:
1) A dynamic, strategic system of long-term PvP and PvE territory and objectives. Think the SFC dynaverse, on steroids. I want to read a message that K-7 has fallen to the Klingon Empire, and that a fleet is massing near Risa to retake it. I want to feel like my actions, or lack of actions, matter in the grand scheme of the game. Space would feel bigger, more alive, and more dangerous.
2) Additional fully-realized factions, with storylines and complete, compelling gameplay. It's ambitious, but I have faith that Cryptic can make it so. I want to be a Tal Shiar operative, or an idealistic Cardassian Gul looking to restore the Union.
3) Sensors, tricorders, minigames, and ship interiors. All of these are vital to deep immersion. Let us scan anything. Let us go to engineering. Let us really involve ourselves in this world you've created.
Short -
Fixing graphical glitches
Creating a minor skill differences between Engineer, Scientist and Tactical in space (Just bump down one skill to level 5 would be nice)
Better customized tool bars (I would love option 3 but I want to keep my BO's there without ruining the UI's sleekness)
Medium -
Giving the RPers a slight break. There are like 4 different emotes for sitting in a chair, even then you have to get into the right position in order to do it. Would it be possible to make certain objects intractable so it's easier to get things looking right?
Detailed in-game breakdown of what things do.
How do the skills effect lower levels? If they have to spend 6,700 points on skills they would normally like to know exactly how it effects them in the future (Or in the now). For example, what exactly does the tactical team captain thing do.... Especially when your in a full group?
Long -
Who doesn't love free content?
Player created content
PvP 'deathmatch' missions that group the people up better (For example, one set spawn point in a protected area). Being on your own usually leads to a horrible death against the "winning" grouped up party
If you recall in DS9 sisko had to have special dispensation to rename the new definat to definant. So it makes sense you need to spend merits on it, could be cheaper though.
Short term:
Documentation:
- A description of the many skills, attributes, item bonusses etc. is very much needed.
- A lot of game/interface elements are unexplained. For example, why do some star systems have white buttons, while other star systems have black buttons?
Ingame maps:
- The map interface currently feels very cluncky overall. I think the system list tab should be removed and its functionality included in the area/galaxy maps. Or at the very least, make the system list span multiple columns. I shouldn't have to scroll the list if there's plenty of free space on the tab.
- Make the galaxy map interactive. Add the ability to zoom in on other sector blocks to see what systems are in there.
- Add the ability to plot a course across sector blocks.
- Add labels on the ground maps for known locations, such as starbases. For Earth Spacedock, that would mean labeling the areas such as Exchange, Ship Requisitions, etc.
Exchange interface:
- Make the results sortable.
- I want to be able to search for "Some Rifle Mk II" (Mark 2) without seeing "Some Rifle Mk III" (Mark 3) in the results. An option to do an exact name search would solve this.
Mid term:
- Earth looks gorgeous from space. I wonder what it looks like when I beam down to the surface...
- Ship interiors. I would to love see my own ship from the inside.
- More random events (distress calls etc). This should make the galaxy feel (even) more alive.
Long term:
- More mission variaty, such as missions that involve diplomacy, making choices.
- In-ship missions.
- Free exploration of systems without needing to be on a mission.
- Scanning. Why not get a radar like view of all anomalies/entities when I press the scan button, instead of it pointing to a random anomaly. I would also like to see detailed scans of anything I can target.
Short Term - get things working as intended / improve basic playability
- Sorting options on exchange (a. Price, b. Number of items in stack c. Alpha sort by full item name). Possibly add price per item column in addition to price for stack/lot or ability to buy one item from a stack.
- Key that *always* resets camera to a fixed point behind my ship regardless of what else is happening (the existing feature works sometimes but not all the time) - I don't mind the camera swinging around to follow my target but sometimes I just want to see that my cannons are lined up properly. Cameras generally need refining for ground and space.
- Ability to respec player skills (respec boff skills would also be nice but lower priority as they are not capped).
- Extend autogrouping to fleet actions / PvP
- Get the whole group in the same instance of deep space encounters / etc - suck the whole group in like PvP if you have to.
- Quest or some other mechanic to track memory alpha crafting progress to next tier
- Reward mix of play styles (eg tanking / healing not just dps/zerg)
Mid-Term - implement end game content / keep people playing
- End game content - raid-i-sodes, fleet actions, etc. Bring in what has been promised then add more after another month or two. Keep it coming. (extra content at lower levels is nice to have, extra content for end game is critical)
- Drip feed content (episiode of the week / seasonal content / 'world' events)
- In game voice chat
- 'Raid' / 'Task Force' mechanic to co-ordinate multiple groups... then add content that requires groups working together (hard fleet actions / multi-group raid-i-sodes)
- Overhaul crafting system
- Klingon PvE
Long Term - expand the game
- Solid end game content - 'raids' that take many attempts to complete, other things that fleets can do together, extended exploration, rewards that make the effort worthwhile without unbalancing the game.
- Mission content that plays out inside my ship
- More content that doesn't involve combat / clicking on x things
- Fleet stations, player housing (ship interiors) - user customisable places (and in game money sink to help balance the economy and control inflation)
- Mini-games or other non level dependent content on social planets / stations / onboard my ship. (and another in game money sink)
- More playable factions with unique content / ships - I can wait for a paid expansion for this
- Raise the level cap, new sectors, etc...
Short Term
- Release all pre-ordered content (ie TOS Uniforms) these should have been all there at the beginning.
- Correct major gameplay bugs
- Add autofire capabilities on all space weapons, we are all capable of deciding whether we want a weapon on autofire, Im just tired of pressing spacebar/mouse button everytime I want to fire a weapon with 1 second cooldown.
Mid Term
- Correct minor bugs like anomolies spawning underground/in a building we cant enter
- Increase the range of character customisation, right now I feel very much like everyone is a cookie cut/
- Increase fleet management options, ie fleet exchange where a fleet could place items in the exchange and the money from the sale goes straight to the fleet coffers. Allow items to be taken out but block cash. Give each fleet member some space, say 10 items each, with options to upgrade each persons.
- Exchange Sorting feature so we can get it to sort by item/price.
- Add some more mission styles and capacity to fail.
- Crafting quest, right now romaine doesnt tell you when the next level is open, nor does the next level actually acknowledge, I have the store available but if I ask "can I do something for them" they tell me to bug romaine.
Long Term
- Raid Content
- Expand the universe, increase level cap
- More playable sides (may already be, I only know fed and klingon) but give them the same depth you give the feds. This includes expanding the Klingons, easily could follow the same plotline as the fed route just klingon side of the story to begin with.
Short-term requests
These are small things that seem like they could maybe be done within a patch or two.
1) More costume options. (Like already programmed NPC gear)
2) Icons to display what debuffs you're being hit with (is it just me that can't see them?)
3) The ability to pull a chat tab out into its own separate chat window.
4) Cross-faction BOs. We can have Klingon BOs in the Federation, but not Orions, because they work for the Klingons?
Mid-term requests
These are things which realistically would take a couple of months for the devs to do, given dev time, testing, balancing, and so on.
1) Space/Ground Combo group events to capture unique ship types for permanent use. Disable the ship in space, then board to clear out the crew.
2) Additional unlockable ship customization options through PvE episodes.
3) Captain's Ready Room: a room right off your bridge that you can decorate with trophies from significant in-game achievements ala player housing.
Long-term requests
These are "direction of the game" kind of things. Stuff that you want them to do over the next year or two of the game's development.
1) Betrayal Story Line: A specific season of episodes that IRREVOCABLY alienate you from your current faction, and allow you to join another, possibly bringing your crew and/or your ship with you.
2) Era-specific fleet ops where you choose from a preset selection of chronologically consistent ship-types with identical load outs (think classes in Team Fortress) to re-live famous battles from the past i.e. Wolf 359, Siege of Cardassia, the Battle Against the Space Cigar Where No One's Ship Works, etc. This could have PvP implications as well, and easily address play-balancing.
3) Cross-Faction content. Raid events or a season of episodes where factions temporarily work together towards victory.
Short Term
1. UI polish and usability fixes
2. Chat controls aka. filtering out other zones but the one I am in.
3. Improved details for ships and stats for bridge officers displayed to the player.
Medium Goals
1. Memory Alpha expansion
2. Reward balance between PvE (Exploration, Story Missions, Patrols) and PvP
Long Term
1. Crafting overhaul
a. Ability to customize consoles or weapons
b. Ability to craft each tier of consoles or weapons
c. Ability to upgrade ship to the next higher tier so equipment slots are upgraded but visuals remain
d. Ability to craft and or upgrade ground equipment.
2. Open world PvP zones (you enter you can get ganked)
a. If the Klingons and Federation are at war lets make it feel like they are at war.
3. Romulan playable racial faction
4. Cardasian playable racial faction
5. Gorn playable racial faction
Short Term
-Have encounters reset upon death
-Fix it so that scanning anomalies shows you more than just what is closest. Red can be for anomalies, green can be for mission objectives.
-Fix PvP. A lot of the quests are bugged, and there's not as much info on PvP as there should be.
-Make it so that ships can move in 3 dimensions.
-Make it so that we can autofire ALL of our weapons.
Medium Term
-More Content! More missions that aren't simply patrol, defend, or explore!
-Ship interiors
-Ability to upgrade lowered tier ships
-The skill system needs to be looked at. At the very LEAST, the skills need to give you a better description.
Long Term
-Good Exploration, not the 3 missions we always get from explore missions now.
-Expansions. I"m completely fine with paying for an expansion, so long as it delivers.
-Fleshed out Klingons, or any other faction you implement.
Also, a revamp of the skills system. It's appears as if it was designed with a philosophy towards being able to eventually black everything out, yet I'm reading about a skill point cap. Skill point caps mean "builds" and "builds" mean some sort of tiered structure to the skills that is wholly absent in the system as is. Astrometrics is not a skill you should have to spend 50000 points to get. Big skills at the end, little skills at the beginning.
Either the cap needs to go, or the skills need to be restructured in a manner where every skill is equal to the investment it takes to get it.
Short Term:
More in the Ship Replicator: Commodities, Devices
Remove Research node harvesting while under red alert.
Remove NPC Fleets that camp the spawn point in the Deep space encounter.
Mid-Term:
Ships have hardpoints for BO consoles. The Captain would have to buy the Lt Science BO Console or Ensign whatever... etc... Player would decide which combo they wanted. It could also be a 'Bridge Option' that would be a free change like the name or look.
Fast Travel (Transwarp) between hubs.
A different way to calculate score in fleet actions. A method that takes Science Ship dirty tricks or Cruiser tanking in addition to Escort DPS.
Long Term:
Ferengi Playable Faction: PvP, PvE, storyline...
Passive PC and BO powers.... like a Tactical Ensign Passive might be Point Defense similiar to the automated defense battery. A Science Passive would be higher crew recovery.
Corporate Player Faction: Think Fajo, or Mudd, or Private Corporations (Human, Ferengi)
1. Crafting
2. Player Housing (eg. Starships you can walk and store in)
3. Starships you can walk and store in... WTH, the most long-term element of ST fans are the ships and ship manuals, and here thus far, we can't even walk around in our starships?!? Missing the big picture. Ships should be explorable, with NPC crew, medical bays, shuttle bays... make it come alive!
Short:
Bug fixes, server performance improvements, and hit squads for "gold" spammers
Improved responsiveness of skill activations/animations (esp. ground combat)
Modification of auto-fire options and adjustment of shield recharge skills (RSIs are NOT fun)
Mid:
Revamp sector space and exploration
- sector space should be BIG, ships should move quickly through it... there is NO feeling of space and warp speeds
- systems should be significantly smaller on the map
- there should be hundreds of systems in a sector
- mission systems should be obvious
- eventually, every system should be visitable, but this can be done in stages as new missions are approved in Genesis
- space should have real "anomalies", nebula with interesting features, supernova remnants, black holes, pulsars, even just pretty stuff to visit with no other significance, etc
Increase to movement range
- full 360 degrees of pitch would be nice (I could be happy with +-89 if it's an engine limitation)
Long:
Mission improvements: more types, randomization of in-mission events, ship-board missions, mini-games, intellectual puzzles, randomization of non-storyline missions (don't give me the same set with each character)
Revamp PvP to give it a greater purpose and feeling of consequence
Modifications to make game feel more Trek-like
- There should be missions to go from point A to B that spawn random side mission (distress calls, evacuations, etc)
- Greater inventory space, skills to improve reclamation, exchanges on other planets...I don't feel like I'm on a n-year mission when I'm returning to Earth every 30 minutes to unload TRIBBLE
Variable but Very Important (to me):
Split off a RP shard, enforce a Trek naming policy, or allow an infinite ignore list that actually removes players from all aspect of view (I don't want to "hear", see, team with, or even know that Captain HappyPantz is out there)
Shortlisted:
Revamp "crafting"
Improvements to BOs (specialization, larger skill trees that include skill bonuses as well as abilities)
UI/Information revamp
* Full configurable auto attack (including permanent reinforcing of a shield ark)
Please, it is really really annoying having to constantly mash 2 buttons (fire all weapons + reinforce shield)
Meanwhile trying to see your enemy in space and bring your guns to bearing, while activating skills.
I want to play tactical, make different approaches, move, steer my ship and fire my torpedo when the time
is right. But it seems too much for my keyboard to cope with lag + pressing 2 buttons constantly and then
getting the skills in time to activate, while steering.
* Fixing the Missing in Map loading bug
When you go onto a map and it wont load, having to wait 5 minutes before you are reset in space.
* Adding the missing items for Exploration in the top tiers
there is no phaser cannons there for feds
Mid term:
* Add Diplomatic Content / Alternative ways of solving missions/ Minigames!
* Find a way to kill the skill level cap. It is really annoying
* Rework Crafting into something meaningfull
Long term:
* Add in new factions like Romulans, Cardassians
* Remove DEEEEEEERWIIIIISCH and replace it by some better designed T5 escort with a normal name
* Bigger battles, more fleet actions for more than 10 people.
Short:
-Making it so when a player targets nearest enemy, its not only the nearest enemy in front of them, but anywhere.
- A little arrow above players that point them to the direction of a npc they need to talk to.
- Putting NPC names above their heads.
- Better descriptions in missions of where they mission are.
-Search feature in the map that allows players to search for sector names.
Mid:
-Some sort of in game encyclopedia.
-Better explanations of what everything in game means.
-Removal of the grid in sector space.
- Some sort of collection system. (For example collecting all of a certain type of mineral)
- Life on planets (aside from NPCs).
Long:
-More faction options.
- A faction bar that tells how a player sits with all the in game factions.
-Missions to improve factions.
-Ability for players to switch sides.
- Changing the exploration system so that unexplored systems arent just in a few sectors.
- Some sort of mining.
- Player created missions.
- Real fleet content. Have a system where players find a wormhole. On the other side they have to map and catalog the entire system. Then they have to build a station and figure out a way to get back to normal space.
- More content involving players finding new races. Could be tied into the genesis system. Player would find new race then have to learn to speak its language. Figure out how to get them to join one of the two sides of the war.
- Content where a new race invades the galaxy and all factions have to join together to fight them off.
-More level based content. Restricting certain areas of space until player reaches a specific level.
-Science content that has players finding new materials and using them to make new materials to improve ships and weapons.
- Content that allows players to play old Star Trek episodes.
- More content to teach people about Star Trek.
Comments
THIS might be of interest to some of you.
More ships for all sides, with very different configurations and purposes.
Mid term:
Flesh out kdf pve.
Long term:
More playable species with interesting political systems
I will keep it simple Great thread
More choices in missions, like one way combat the other one diplomatic or something.
Make cruiser a bit more comfortable to fly, either by giving them a kind of "loot-trector-beam" or increase the range for loot to be collected.
More costume, ehrm, I mean, uniform options.
Skirts for the TOS uniform!
More and better communication from the devs, for example what is planned according the skill cap, remove it when the content for level 50 is in (like in CoH where it was some weeks after release that you could level to 50)
- better server performance (no more rubber banding please)
Mid:
- better matchmaking engine
- more pvp options (maps)
long:
- more pvp options (open pvp zone)
Medium Term
Long Term
2) News and details on what is in the works and what is on the table be made available.
3) Problems, servers going boom, etc., promptly posted and LOCKED so that all can see it without wading through these posts.
Some food for thought.
Short-term:
1. UI polish and usability fixes
2. Chat controls aka. filtering out other zones but the one I am in.
3. Improved details for ships and stats for bridge officers displayed to the player.
Medium Goals
1. Memory Alpha expansion
2. Reward balance between PvE (Exploration, Story Missions, Patrols) and PvP
Long Term
1. Crafting overhaul
a. Ability to customize consoles or weapons
b. Ability to craft each tier of consoles or weapons
c. Ability to upgrade ship to the next higher tier so equipment slots are upgraded but visuals remain
d. Ability to craft and or upgrade ground equipment.
2. Open world PvP zones (you enter you can get ganked)
a. If the Klingons and Federation are at war lets make it feel like they are at war.
3. Romulan playable racial faction
4. Cardasian playable racial faction
5. Gorn playable racial faction
This is what I'd personally love to see.
Either the cap needs to go, or the skills need to be restructured in a manner where every skill is equal to the investment it takes to get it.
Top 3:
1. Crafting
K
