It's possible that the problem lies with the upstream provider of my ISP, they are doing updates to their hardware each night this week. But the problem doesn't lend itself to easy answers; while sometimes I lose ventrilo the same time as the disconnects I can usally get a 0% packet loss pingtest at the very moment it's dropping. And of course many times I momentarily lose connection to the game but not ventrilo.
I don't feel comfortable being on the fleet vent channel because of the frequent drops that may happen there but also it seems my on board sound is providing some static when I speak. The headset doesn't have the static when hooked up to an older machine with a separate sound card. Unfortunately my only extra pci-express slot is covered by the huge cooler on my video card, so to upgrade I have to go to an old fashioned pci card and hope that clears the static.
Of course I can't do STFs or PvP properly when it's likely I'll drop one or more times during each run; quite possibly a dozen times during an STF.
I get on in the mornings and do my dailies, with on average 5 disconnects during the 3 characters doing a Chart the B'Tran cluster mission each. Later in the evenings I play a new character who is almost Lt. Commander now. For perhaps an hour in the evening I play a Commander twink with my brothers before he has to go to bed. While people are welcome to play with me anytime, I don't ask because of the frequent disconnects.
I would just like to take this time to wish everyone a happy easter weekend for those who celebrate it. Personally, I don't but, for those who do, let this holiday remind you of how jesus died on a chocolate cross and every year he hires the egg laying rabbit to TRIBBLE out its multicolored, naturally hard boiled eggs for everyone to bring happiness. So have a happy easter and be safe!

I am writing to apologize for my absence from the game and the vent. I have recently moved into a new place and am slowly setting up everything. Internet is last on my list. So I will not be online until after 15MAY2010. I hope all is well in the fleet and I am trying to check on the website as often as I can. Thanks for your patience and understanding in this matter.
