Good for them. If you don't get your codes early you have to stop playing on the 2nd until they arrive. I don't see what the big deal with not shipping them before the release date is anyway. Clearly you can't start playing until the codes are activated, so why not ship early?
I say let the employees have the codes early. Working at Gamestop is a crappy job with low pay and no hours. At least let them have the one bonus that comes with working there.
"Blatant Abuse" is when someone grabs you by the neck and slaps some sense into you. Some game store employee getting their game code a little earlier than you is called a "job perk."
If it doesn't leave a mark then it's not abuse, and you really need to grow up and get over it.
One of these days you'll get a job and then you'll get to experience job perks as well.
I got my Constitution Class ship because I got a code sent via e-mail... And I don't work at Gamethingy or whatever game store... I work at an Apple Store...

What in the holy hell do you care if Johnny Gamestop has a shuttle or Sally Bestbuy has a starter ship? Why would this upset you so much? Mind your own game.
Eh. I would be thrilled if I could actually use my stuff during head start when I have characters at the appropriate level.
I just leveled an alt to 6 to make a Klingon..Well a Lethian but you know what i mean. I will play them till I get my codes then create my Joined Trill main. I will have enough stuff to if not Twink her out at least help her.
so stealing software to bring home and burn the retail codes is a perk of working at gamestop now? i imagine only the ones that get caught having taken it home will ever actually pay for it. and most waiters that get caught eating off of peoples plates dont last long either.
while they are not to get items before the street date, but employees get games early all the time. it's really messed up, and something I wish gamestop would crack down on, but chances are they won't. ( source class mate / x gamestop employee, according to him. )
Sheesh, why ? It doesn't really hurt you any (no going green with envy is not a injury) we will get ours on the 2nd of February 2010 along with everyone else.
Lets be honest every job has its perks for some the perk is a higher wage than the average. For others its a fringe benefit. One of the fringe benefits for working in the video game retail industry is that you get access to said video games before anyone else.
Its not unfair, its not unreasonable and its does not hurt any of us at all really. So let them have the toys early <grin> we will get ours soon enough.

Why do you think they are stealing? they are not they are simply buying them before release date. thats the perk
title sums it up, gamestop and other game store employees are running around flaunting items like the tier 1 constitutions and joined trills and every one of the fancy extras we all preordered. how you might ask, the only logical conclusion is that since you cant buy the retail codes or have them shipped yet is that they stole them and took them home. some may or may not take the bar codes back in and pay for them, but its obvious they took home the retail codes to get the goodies the rest of us arent allowed to play with until their selfish asses get us our codes to us. i for one think they should all recieve a 30 day suspension from the game.
accusations of theft are pretty serious my friend, have you not considered the fact that they might have bought their very own copy from the stock that they received early and use their own code?
regardless of what your personal viewpoint might be some companies do care about that stuff. some target or walmart employees just got fired not to long ago for taking products home early before general release? I think it happened to make national news at the time because it was around the holidays.
Getting games before release isn't a "perk" in the same sense an employee discount is.
Gamestop and other retail outlets are under distribution content not to release the retail product to anyone prior a certain date. If they do, which it seems they have, they can be held in breach of contract? Will they be? Probably not. Should they be? Yes.
I worked software sales before and sure, I got a free piece of software now and then. I once even got a PDA when PDAs were new, with the street cost of $600. But if my company was under contract not to release before a certain date... I sure as hell wouldn't have got it "as a perk" until that date.
I don't think I've seen a DEV/Cryptic comment on one of these posts yet. I think they will ignore it and let it blow over for those that are upset personally. They don't have the weight of a company like blizzard to go after suing people over street dates anyway assuming they even care. They want their money. They don't want to get distributors upset at this point in the game.
I am not sure how STO Gamestop / EB Games bonus items are working but when I pre-ordered my Halo Wars from EB games here in Canada they gave me the extra item code pamplet the day I pre-ordered it. Not the day my order came in.
I dont think they can go after Gamestop for breaking the release date and giving its employees things early, just laugh at the people who have got them and add them to your ignore list.
They'll wisen up and stop screaming/gloating once they can't get a group anymore :P

If you HONESTLY BELIEVE they stole those game boxes or codes then why haven't you called the police? You remember them right? Big guys in blue or black uniforms. Ring a bell?
But you haven't done that because you have no idea if they stole those codes or not. Fact is, they probably purchased their game codes the same as you. You're really here to whine about the fact that someone else got a shiny before you did.
May I respectfully suggest to you sir that the best course of action is to simply grow up and deal with it?
Many many times throughout your life you're going to encounter people who get things before you do, or get better stuff than what you have, and if you don't learn to deal with it then your life is going to be one long hard road of pain.

Ah, that explains it. I'm in England, and we're lucky to get discounts, let alone any that high.
That they will spit in your food if you so much as look at them cross eyed?
Hit the nail right on the head

In a few days you can flaunt your stuff back.
Why do you need to flaunt? Most of us have some form of bonus, it's not as if you are special in any way.
Nice name. That's my favorite animal.
Just talking the OP's language, and hopefully highlighting the triviality of the whole needless drama of the post.
I wasn't referring to you, but the OP, sorry if my post seemed that way.
