I'm constantly trying to rename and sort my ships. into type, class, Faction, tier and other themed. but there's not enough U.S.S./I.S.S. style options. I think Mudd Could Interduce such options. the STO creators could put out a player surjection poll. or something to see what options could be added. like. T.V. - Temporal Vessel, and so on. there are a couple of factions that don't have a prefix. Adding these to already existing ships. Like Voth. would give more options. and some prefixes don't unlock for every ship. Just the faction its connected to. Like the C.U.V. - Cardassian Union Vessel. I would just like to see more options. and options for fleet wide unlocks. If any STO creators can give feedback on such things, that would be appreciated. Thx
A military ship's prefix generally indicates the nation it's from (here on Earth, a USS prefix indicates a ship from the United States, while a UK ship is HMS for His/Her Majesty's Ship). In STO, the nations available are the United Federation of Planets (which inherited the USS prefix from old Earth Star Fleet traditions), the Klingon Empire (which uses Imperial Klingon Ship, or IKS), the Romulan Republic (RRW, or Romulan Republic Warbird), the Romulan Star Empire (forget the prefix here, don't see many of those), the Dominion (DV, or Dominion Vessel), and a handful of Delta Quadrant powers that aren't that strong in the Alpha/Beta area. The use of vessel type as a prefix (as in MV, or Motor Vessel) is generally used only for civilian craft, and the ships in STO aren't civilian craft. (Now, I'd love to have MV or something equivalent for roleplay purposes on the Latinum Princess, as she's a converted luxury liner that serves as a bit of a Q-ship for undercover action, but that's a me-specific use and not worth detailing a software engineer to rejigger the game for my particular single ship.)

In fact all Terran ships should be H.M.S. as opposed to I.S.S. in my opinion. But I guess the show runners thought U.S.S (United States Ship being the same letters as United Star Ship) was fine for the good guys but H.M.S (His/Her Majesty's Ship) for the bad guys might have been a bit anti-British. Not that that's ever stopped Hollywood before! And not that we Care!

If you want to be technical it would probably be HIMS (his imperial majesty's ship), though I thin ISS as "Imperial Starfleet Ship" works too.

Indeed. Hollywood horribly misrepresents us Brits near all the time. We're not all 'stick your little finger in the air whilst drinking a cup of tea' types, nor all baddies and the stealing of our valour or getting our history wrong is quite amusing to us.
I would love to have an HMS and SS (Botany Bay) prefix though.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

I... don't see why honestly. The Terran Empire has nothing to do with the British. Hell I think we see a bit more Roman influence on the Empire than we do British.

Probably because "His/Her Majesty" is among the Imperator's titles. However, there's a whole long list that makes the list of titles given the British sovereign seem restrained. "Imperial Star Ship", or "ISS", seems quite indicative enough to me.

The Imperial prefix is IRW.
We also have access to ISS for the Mirror Terran ships, and for all if you have the Legendary Gal-X.
