Nothing official yet that I have heard of. There are some rumors that it might be a T6 variant of the Obelisk because of a glimpse of something that looked like one in a recent Ten Forward (but nothing at all was said about it), but so far it is just a popular wild guess.
The last couple of years they didn't announce what it was until about a week or two before the event started, my guess is that they will do the same this time.
I think it'll be the T6 Obelisk indeed. Cause I don't see why else they'd have finished that ship already. I was expecting that it would be added to the Infinity Box, but then they suddenly came up with the Aetherian ship.
Unless there's a new lockbox coming soon and they'll add the Obelisk to that. Which could also make sense, given that we don't have regular Aetherian proton beams yet (which are already released in standard white quality with their new ship).
But it seems too early for that, given that the Infinity Box was just updated to include the ship already.
And personally I don't think the Obelisk is able to 'carry' an entire lock box. It's kind of surprising that they just dropped the Aetherian ship in the Infinity box, without building an Aetherian-themed box around it first. Now that it has been released this way, it would be kind of underwhelming to have a box built around the Obelisk. So it probably has to be the Summer event ship.
I agree. It is most likely the T6 Obelisk.
That said, while it was to be expected, i am at best curious about the trait and console on the Tier 6 Obelisk.
The ship itself does not appeal to me.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
And regular AP beams look horrible, in my opinion. I mostly stopped using them. Using another weapon type makes it more difficult to do a themed build that fits the ship.
So yeah, don't really care for it either. Hopefully it has a proton based console and/or trait.

Well... if they justify it by making it an Aetherian hybrid maybe it will have Proton stuff.
Although if you want good looking AP beams the Ba'ul AP beams are nice clean red that isn't distorted or anything. Just pure beamage.
Personally, I think the Obelisk is going to be the summer ship too, I just pointed out that it is just a guess so far. I have wanted an Obelisk (especially with its very distinctive bridge) ever since I first went through the sphere arc, so I hope that guess is correct
I don't have a problem with the look and sound of regular AP beams, but I would probably run a mix of Ba'ul and some other AP since non-set weapons seem so lacking nowadays (though PEN mod crafted is still not too bad).
In the past it has started as early as about mid-June and as late as early August, but most often it seems to start the last few days of June and run to the last few days of July.

I would guess an 'Enhanced' passives-added version of Console - Universal - Reactive Antiproton Cascade Emitter from the Lobi version of the ship. That way, we can easily get that nice Ancient Obelisk Technology Set carrier-focused 3-set for hangar pets -- "Activating any Emergency Power ability causes your Hangar Pets to activate the weakest version of the same power for 10s." They made the T5 Lobi ship's console usable on any ship a little while back, so I'm kinda surprised a T6 Obelisk hasn't already come out.
A few STO YouTubers are guessing a T6 Obelisk will likely be the next Summer ship.
In previous years when a Tier 5 event ship got the Tier 6 treatment it became unavailable for a time from the ship vendor.
This is something we see today with the unavailability of the tier 5 Obelisk.

Really would be awesome to get the T6 Obelisk as the summer event ship!
Most event ships are solid, although sometimes unusual like the 3/5 ship.

The Vorgon ship in question is still serviceable, and an interesting design. Does lean more towards minelayer with the 3/5 layout though, but if you're still using a basic cruiser broadside build its not that different from a 5/3 or a 4/4 since you're just going to broadside anyways.

Sometimes its fun to play with the oddballs.
Don't get me wrong, playing mine layer build is great fun at times but it is even more difficult to get right than high end science builds.

The Ytjara was the first T6 ship I had, and being a bit of an altaholic I ended up putting just about every type of build on it migrating my characters over to it. It did reasonably well with most of them, and surprisingly quite good with some of them. I actually preferred it over the S'torr that came out later, in the winter event.

For me it was not so much the 3/5 layout which put me off on the ship, but the visuals and the handling.
The console of the Ytijara could have been useful on other vessels, especially one of the more recent self radiating ships, if it had not been bound to the ship.
I really hope they remove the console ship restrictions for event ships.
Even though some consoles are pretty dated by now, it could push for a variation in builds.

We got spoiled last year with an actual good ship, good console, good trait. This year if I understand it right our favorite ship stat maker is on the job again.... its a good summer to touch grass as they say. I'll complete it cause well you don't skip event ships... but I am not expecting much.

Honestly with the tease we got from the Dyson reveal stream I'm kinda leaning towards T6 Obelisk Carrier. However we won't know for sure until we get closer to the Summer Event.
I do think that the Tier 5 Obelisk (and by extension the future tier 6 Obelisk, regardless if it is this summer event ship) is overrated.
When it came out it was one of the first semi-afk ships due to the potent swarmer pets.
However, these days we have the Defender.

Well the Obelisk suffered like other Carriers back in the day. Nowadays Carriers are more viable.
Honestly I hope its a Command spec ship as IMO Command synergizes far better with Carrier gameplay. Being able to slap Suppression Barrage and FAW on enemies also helps hanger pets hit targets, and if you happen to have SAD...

Or if we get really lucky and they make it a two-spec ship (I know, very rarely does that happen with event ships) primarily Command but with a side of Miracle Worker to make it a good "tack-hammer and anvil" style carrier.
Slightly related, but was the date for the summer event released already?
I estimate it to be a week or two after finishing this current even ends at 27th June.

Yeah, I do use Ba'ul beams on one toon. Mostly for the chain effect though.

It absolutely rocks as a ship to fly against the Hur'q!
