T6 version of the Oblisk Carrier I assume the next season will be a Dyson Season and maybe that is the next Lock Box ship. Or an event ship who knows... After seeing the T6 Dyson Science Destroyers I'm not hopeful for a good ship. The design of them is great but Bridge Officer Seating, Starship Traits and Consoles leave lots to be desired...
C-Store Inc. is still looking for active members on the fed side. If you don't have a fleet feel free to contact me in game @stegi.
they were talking like the Obelisk may be an event ship (Summer?)
I doubt i will buy the bundle, but I will probably plunk down some money on the romulan ship. she is really pretty
I got some T6 coupons I might pick up one or two Dyson ships but they could have been so much better though. Lt. Engineer was unnecessary the consoles are all lackluster as are the traits. You would think with alot of people now playing elite TFO's they at least put something worthy of high difficulty levels but the starship traits are strait up junk and consoles are not far behind.

I don't remember seeing the Obelisk. I know they talked about the new Dyson ships, which I am glad they made them different enough from each other to justify getting all three.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

They showed it at the very end of the stream.

I hope it is the summer ship, the original Obelisk was a free event ship, and it would be nice if the T6 version is not walled off into some expensive box or package. I have been wanting to get an Obelisk since the first time I played Sphere of Influence, especially if they link in the bridge from the T5 version (in other words the one from the mission) instead of the smaller Dyson bridge some of the other ships have.

At the very end? While Kael was looking for someone to raid?
Sneaky. I clicked off as soon as he started looking for someone to raid as that is usually the end of the stream.

I'm not too interested in this ship. I never cared much for the Obelisk, it was too unwieldy for my liking. I can enjoy a beautifully fat cruiser, but this ship never had the appropriate, good looks for something with such a low turn rate, in my opinion.
The Dyson stuff sounds interesting though.
From Reddit (thanks to Som, as always)
Hector Ortiz designed all 3 ships, Tobias Richter modeled them with intake by Mauricio.
Thomas had clear instruction for these new Dyson ships. He still wanted them to feel Dyson, but lean way more into the original faction(FED/KDF/ROM) feel then the old Dyson ships did.
Mauricio put in a tweak to the Dyson material. Instead of making the dyson purple part of the texture, players can now change that color to whatever they want. Can also change some of the glass textures on parts of the ship.
Back when the original Dysons were being made Thomas was a UI artists, and it never sat right with him that they leaned so heavily into the dyson feel for all of them. These new ships were something of a deferred dream of Thomas' to bring more of the original faction design language into them.
You can mix and match parts from the old dysons and new dysons, which was something of a challenge for Mauricio to get all the pylons and stuff lined up. Especially since these ships have special animations like having the cannons in the cells pop out.
@fleetcaptain5#1134 - thanks, that does sound nice -- it sounds like you can have red for KDF and green for Romulan instead of purple if you want, so you can make them even more faction-oriented.

The Romulan one has a nice model too (it looks a bit like a Rahhae), but it has the wrong core (Fed style warp instead of Rom singularity) which makes it pretty much worthless as an upgrade from the T5 science destroyer warbirds. The other two might be ok, put personally I will have to pass on the only one I would have been interested in getting and stick with the T5UX2 dyson warbirds I already have.

I can ask if it was intended to have a Singularity Core or not.

Sure, that would be great.
Unfortunately, I doubt that it was since singularity cores seem to have fallen out of favor with the devs, and correcting that fubar now would probably annoy the people who prefer it having the wrong core and already built their ship. It is too bad though; a lot of people have been asking for T6 versions of the dyson ships and as usual the Romulans got the short end again.
i wonder how difficult it would be to have a "universal" core slot for that specific ship. rock the singularity or the warp core, whichever floats the boat

Invariably an optimum is going to be found that sees one or the other as the best in slot. I prefer one or the other, as regardless of which is best for a given build I'm having to compromise and use an option I wouldn't otherwise. Limitations in RPGs are critical for building out differentiation in experience. Flexibility can help smooth out the edges of design and foster more creative experimentation. But, only in moderation.

I think the biggest issue with a "universal" Core slot is that the big mechanic for Romulan ships is Singularity Powers. So it would be rather awkward to have to enable/disable the Singularity Powers UI element whenever you slot/unslot a Singularity Core.

Warbird cruisers and battlecruisers lack cruiser commands, Ha'apax escort section doesn't fly like an escort, T'Laru missing subsystem targeting yet Ra'nodaire has it, T6 D'Deridex still stuck at 4/4 weapon layout, T5 Dysons still can't remove or upgrade protonic cannon, T6 Dyson loses singularity abilities and makes romulan only doff functions pointless and is now completely redundant with KDF ships with its battle cloak. Their ship traits and consoles are also exceptionally poor. As someone on reddit also pointed out, they lack Romulan fleet textures as they are already fleet grade. Jem'hadar still lack a single science vessel.

I wouldn't expect the T5 Dyson cannons to be removable, just as with the Tempest's tail gun its a feature of the ship that largely sets it identity, and while suboptimal (as is 99% of the content in STO) it's not unusable. There is no actionable design problem here, even if some users may prefer a change for their own DPS quest.
4/4 layouts likewise I would never treat as a problem needing a fix as it's a valid weapon configuration even if suboptimal to 5/3.
T6 Dyson consoles and traits fit with a theme build and again should not be treated as a problem. Not for you? Find. But neither are most of the D&D classes for me (yet I'd never ask for those to be cut just because they don't play to my personal meta).
T6 Dyson ships are fantastic though for versatile layouts with dual specs and an effective 5/3 weapon layout in TAC mode. The dual spec variation does the heavy lifting as far as differentiating these ships go. The KDF ship lends itself much more to TAC in being able to swap between two commander-level firing modes on transformation (which provides a unique experience to TAC-oriented sci builds, and may represent the best destroyer to throw on TAC characters with a minor SCI lean), while the ROM is geared more to a traditional SCI vessel role with an *option* for 5/3.
See Trek term IDIC for a broad thesis on why weird, suboptimal stuff is beneficial for a game's ecosystem. Everything one way (be it a singular design goal or a meta concept) is the peak of boredom. Take for example: releasing only FED ships to the regular c-store for years. The T6 KDF dyson doubled (1*2=2) the number of 2409 KDF ships in the c-store with modern hull fidelity (it's been that long since we've had regular KDF drops, even the T6 Vor'cha is dated. Where the FED got the likes of the Gagarin KDF only got DSC variants. 2409 KDF options are extremely thin on the ground and this is their ONLY regular c-store ship with dual specs. And ROM are only slightly better off through the recon destroyers). This fact needs to register a LOT higher for a healthy community. KDF and ROM T6 dyson ships being a bit closer than usual is an incredibly minor nit pick by comparison to simply having SOMETHING for these factions released at a normal price point.

Lots of new customisation options coming, it seems. That's great.
