I've seen it a couple of times. visually it looks like a 30 degree cone that for all intents looks like a vacuum effect. heck I don't even know if it's effective, but i'm really curious as to what it might be. wish i had a screenshot but i usually see it go off on defera then the player is out of sight
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Had not considered the 2nd one. Cannot test if that is the one since arc doesn't let me login at the moment.
Edit: Did a test run. Hurricane Wave Device is like a blast of air going outwards. No reddish glow of flow back to the player.
Edit 2: A relatively recent weapon is the Zhat Vash Disruptor Pistol which fires a red bolt or blast.

TOS hand phaser wide beam? I think the candy bar one has a red cone for the secondary attack instead of blue, but my memory on that is fuzzy since my TOS crews use the blue pistol type phasers.
If you say so.
However It is lacking the reddish glow which the OP mentioned.

Isn't that the map lighting?
Anyway, i tend to play first person perspective on the ground so it may differ from an over the shoulder view.

People use it a lot in the Halloween event to pull skeletons into the light where they are vulnerable, it does have that reddish cast to it.
It's very useful for that.
The previously mentioned hurricane Wave Device may be equally useful.

Thanks. Will give it a try. Buff up / contain / yank / electrocute sounds like fun. Tactical captains can do much more than just throw grenades
I think throwing grenades is the least effective way to play TAC as they've not fixed the issue of our character not leading the throw meaning 2/3 of the grenades miss as our character threw it where the enemy was instead of where they are.

Yeah, they're far from effective. They can definitely be fun though.
I haven't really bothered with it myself, but mixing a grenade-control build on the ground might be effective.
Or, now that I'm thinking about it, use grenades in combination with the aformentioned Containment field.
Forcing your enemies to either get hit by the grenade, or running from that to be electrocuted .
Not a hard choice considering the damage from grenades is reduced by shields while electricity is not.
Use of the graviton spike or the Paradox Bomb is preferable.

It IS possible to aim grenades with Shooter Mode as you can use Kit Modules while in Shooter Mode, but it might be a bit clunky with any possible input lag, server lag, or any number of normal MMO issues that can come up along the way.
But it is possible.

I have a dedicated defera build to use in Peer pressure that uses a grenade but other than that nope. thinking about it, that kit plus an engineers mines....

There's one that drags enemies towards you, from the Disco reputation: https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Universal_Kit_Module_-_Gravity_Containment_Unit
The other one comes from the Infinity box, it pushes them away: [Universal Kit Module - Hurricane Wave Device] https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Special_Equipment_Pack_-_Discovery:_Emerald_Chain_Kit_Modules

This is one of my favorite kit modules. Yanking the bad guys (onto mines) can be a lot of fun. And it's universal

Yeah especially if you got people in your group who think they can just out DPS the damage immunity those mobs have when not in the light.
It can also work great with a kit module from the Competitive reputation https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Tactical_Kit_Module_-_Containment_Field
