There a problem with the wolf 359 Memorial

darthoricidarthorici Member Posts: 195 Arc User
What is the problem with the wolf 359 Memorial? It is very simple, there is a ship at the memorial that is impossible to be on display due to a warp core breach. As you know warp core breach causes the ship to be blown to smithereens. So when the USS Saratoga blows up in the very first episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine the USS Saratoga is seen blowing to Smithereens by the warp core breach thus making it impossible for it to be on display. So the ship needs to be taken out of the memorial because it cannot be there. You could include the USS Saratoga as a hologram which wouldallow it to be included in the memorial and still make it accurate to what we saw in Star Trek. As another option you could put in a replica that would be identified as a replica. Either option would make the memorial historically accurate to the events of the show.

There's also a replica of the Saratoga at Athan Prime in 2402. Also it could be possible that HOW a Warp Core Breach happens could leave a chunk behind. We don't know. Traditionally we've just seen total obliteration of the stricken ship as back then they were using physical models and you pack explosives into them for a destruction shot, or they just pretty much overlay an explosion to remove the model to avoid needing debris. So in theory it is possible parts of the Saratoga survived. Ripped to shreds by her own Core Breach, but still possible.

Clearly, it's a replica. I think you're splitting hairs. Let it go, Elsa. 🙄

It make sense for Athan Prime to have a replica. As it is the the ship that gave birth to one of starfleet greatest captain.
But looks like they removed the uss saratoga.

Considering how famous ships (and famous ship names) are treated in the shows it is possible that Starfleet either transferred the name (and a ceremonial piece of the wreckage of the old ship if available) to a newly built ship of the same class (or the next generation of the same class), or renamed one of its sister ships (all of which has been done in Trek at some point) and that could easily be the ship in the museum rather than the original.
