Availability of old Story Arcs and their Rewards

I get that you don't want to confuse new players with some of these old arcs, but you are also keeping old players new characters on old accounts from accessing unique rewards from those missions. Please either make their availability account wide or change the rewards to bind on account.

"Some" of the old arc's are still in the game. You access them through the Available tab in your journal you have to reach level 65 and complete the Galaxy at Large mission for Federation characters, and I believe Friend or Foe for Klingon aligned. You'll then have access to the Wasteland arc as a non Romulan, Cold War the Breen missions, Lost Dominion a lot of relocated missions dealing with Jem'Hadar (which have some good rewards), and Spectres the old Drozana station missions.

The following missions were removed and at the time it was stated that they would return after a revamp. (Though that was back in October of 2018 and many have lost hope)

    Mission--unique rewards
    Hide and Seek--none
    Stop the Signal--none
    The Kuvah'Magh--none
    Treasue Trading Station--none
    Task Force Hippocrates--none
The Ultimate Klingon---Diburnium Reinforced Body Armor or Personal Repulsion Shield
City on the Edge of Never-none
Past Imperfect-- Efficient Impulse Engines or Paratrinic Shield Array

I really liked playing many of these missions and would love to see them back but many of the rewards are not that great compared to what can be gained in the game from other areas.

The fact that Kael has brought them up does indicate Cryptic has not forgotten about them though.

True, since the rewards were never updated when the missions were, in effect, elevated to endgame very few seem to bother with doing them anymore except for the occasional nostalgia-prompted run. The fact that they lost most or all of their relevance when they were moved does not exactly help either, and in the case of Spectres, the devs had finally fixed the infamous McCoy bug only to have it break again a few months later when the arc was moved to the all-too-ironically named "Available" tab.

The only 'missing' arc are the Fed unique Klingon War missions. A number of arcs underwent a 'remastering' and some are now side arcs within the Available tab of your journal. As for the 'unique' awards of the Spectres arc et al., they are available to buy in Mudd's store, and the ones from the removed missions were rarely ever used anyway.

    Technically, no.

Using Spectres as an example, the special rewards are:
    • Subspace Field Modulator resuable ship device
    • Phase-Shifted Personal Shield
    • Synchronic Proton Distortion Prototype Assault Rifle
    • Triolic Pattern Enhancer
    • Ophidian Cane (only when the arc was in event mode)
    • Twin Phaser Beam Array [CrtH] [Dmg]
    • Federation Type 3 Phaser Rifle
    • Federation Type 2 Phaser
    • Klingon Disruptor Pistol

As far as I know of the only thing from that list that is in Mudds is the Ophidian Cane (as part of the It's About Time pack, and like everything else in Mudds it cannot be considered to be available to the majority of STO players due to its insane price even when on sale.

Since the cane was an event item it is typical of the event-to-Mudds trend, but putting items that were available to anyone at any time for free in the regular missions into Mudds would be sleezy business practice. Instead, they would be more appropriate in the phoenix or dil stores since those latter two use ingame time and effort for purchase which is all the items cost originally as mission rewards when you get right down to it.

The TOS weapons are available in MK. XII from K-13 but that does not fill the midlevel availability gap for Temporal recruits or others using a TOS theme which Spectres used to do in its original spot on the missions list, so it is a resounding fail in that respect. Unless you are deaf you must have heard the shrill trilling often enough in TFOs to show people do indeed use those weapons, the reason they don't play Spectres to get them is more the fact that in order to keep in theme they have had to get substitutes elsewhere and have no need for more of them by the time the arc becomes available.

The rest of that list, as far as I know of are only available from the episodes in the arc, as are the three accolades unique to the arc for those who like to collect accolades.

The other missing and "Available" tab missions are in much the same boat, and the main reason people don't use the gear from the few they can still play as much as before is probably that there are so many events nowadays that people tend to use the new gear and by the time the shine starts to wear off there is more event gear to try out. And from what I see in the chat people are not doing missions anywhere near as much as they used to unless they are ones on the various Recruit paths, mostly they seem to do event stuff or chase endeavors nowadays.

If you vendor / discard story episode rewards and loot drops before the jump to 2409 you can get a set of beams and ground weapons from the TOS starbase vendor. They are also available from the exchange. No disruptor pistols though unless you're lucky with a loot drop.

You can do this for Discovery captains too, so no need for lock box beams if you want the blue disco phasers.

Apologies, I was talking about the special awards when the 'special' run was on (Ophidian cane etc.)

So you were referring to the Feature Episode Replay rewards.
While those story arcs are still in game under the Available tab when you hit 65, the FE Replay rewards... I believe are in the Mudd Store now.

Looking through this thread, there's two sets of 'unique' rewards being mentioned.

The first, the Featured Episode rewards are now available within a Mudd's Bundle, as already mentioned.

The second set of unique rewards are from the 'missing' episodes from the Klingon War story arc.
    • Diburnium Reinforced Body Armor
    • Personal Repulsion Shield
    • Efficient Impulse Engines
    • Paratrinic Shield Array
These rewards are not entirely missing, though.
All four are currently available to KDF and Romulan Republic characters, but the missing Klingon War missions have left three of them unavailable to Federation players.

The "Personal Repulsion Shield" is currently also available as a mission reward from “Beneath the Skin” but at Very Rare quality instead of Rare.

I'm not convinced they're massively missed as I'm sure most of us prefer other items for our characters.

But, I do believe the mission that have been removed for revamp/remaster really don't need any work done as they've been revamped/remastered four of five times already.
(There's also some missions from the old Cardassian & Romulan arcs that could be dropped back into the game somewhere, although they would perhaps need a slight polish to rework them for all-faction-play. Saturday's Child, The Tribble with Klingons, Hunting the Hunters, Ghost Ship, Rapier, Cage of Fire, to name a few...)

The Klingon War missions did not need removing to be 'remastered'. They could have been left in whilst the work was being done on a seperate server. It's what they did with the Cardassian and Romulan Arcs. Those 'missing' episodes you ellude to were reworked into the missions that are now available. This is was done as a remastering of the Cardassian and Romulan episodes.
