If you equip all three, you can the ability to offensively eject your warp core in combat.
Look, I know some things break immersion by necessity of game mechanics, but this is really ridiculous. The only way I could even come close to accepting this is if: it's only usable once per instance, you lose any and all buffs granted by the warp core for the duration of the instance, and your power levels are permanently decreased to 10 for the duration of the instance. It's still sketchy, but maybe you RP it as getting a replacement in between leaving the instance and returning to sector space. Anything else is nonsensical though. Might as well introduce a ground ability where the player character can remove their own brain (temporarily!), it makes just as much sense.
I only watched one or two episodes of ST:Prodigy. Figured out I'm not part of the targeted audience for this show. I'm happy for the people who do like it. I'll not bad mouth it because Star Trek is a large enough tent now there's plenty of room for everybody.
The people who enjoy ST:Prodigy ought to get a shot at owning the Protostar in STO. And while I'm wishing for things made of Unobtanium, I want a pony as well.

The issue with the Protostar itself is that because Prodigy was owned BOTH by CBS and Nickelodeon... things were kinda muddy because Cryptic would have to get permission from Nickelodeon as well.
However with everything that has happened... and the introduction of this set... its probably only a matter of time before we see a Protostar class.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

The two Protostar-themed items do look fun. However, I do find it odd to have two Protostar-themed items but not as part of the Protostar-class itself. I guess thank our lucky stars these items aren't stuck with the ship itself inside a lockbox? :vulcan-salute:

Does Cryptic believe in them? If yes, then why do we automatically win after seven rounds? Why do you keep calling it a no win scenario if that's not what it is?
Why not give players an option to queue for the regular mission? It's kind of strange to encourage players to play a certain piece of content and then not let them, when they are willing to.
Like you're asking someone to prepare for running a marathon and then tell them to stop running after a hundred metres or 328 banana lengths.

I suppose it could be possible that they eject the spare core, like Voyager did once, and the cooldown could be the time it takes to print a new one with the Protostar free-space replicator technology (for instance, they don't bother carrying spare shuttles, if they lose one of the active ones they just print up a new one core, fuel, and all and take off in it without any other preparation) and energize it ready for the next launch.
It is still rather silly and makes no sense scientifically since it is just a matter/antimatter reactor and would just be an extremely inefficient photon mine or the like, but that is one of the hallmarks of NuTrek in general.

You can get your pony after they finally add a real life shuttle to the C-store!

Or at least give us the ability to tally our rounds based on how many times we do the Sompek arena (3 event TFO runs and we get the Sompek emote). If only the devs could hear us on this one...
It'd be a nice addition, but until it arrives, you can get a pretty close approximation of the Protostar by using one of the various Star Cruisers.
I'm don't want the ship. Which looks really good, BTW. But I am sure plenty of players do. I think if they're a fan of ST:Prodigy, they should get access to it as quickly as we got access to the ST:Lower Decks stuff.

Maybe they can then also re-add the 'Abandon ship' ability, since we're going to be able to drop warp cores continuously now.
