Lightning glitch, now on Risa, but a lot of other places, too, like Nimbus (Lightning 2.0 Bug)

As the title says, the Lightning is on ground often broken and shows areas way to dark, see picture. Goes away if you change to Lightning model 1.0 and back to 2.0, but comes very quickly back again. This bug is no about one year old. This thread is for support-ticket, so please leave comment so it become maybe a bit more weighted and they do something about it.

have the same problem but it's not 100% consistent, some characters rarely encounter this and some characters can't get rid of it no matter how many times I toggle lighting 2.0

I saw this for the first time today after years of doing the Summer Event with no problems. Reloading the map by beaming up and back down temporarily fixed it.

For me I don't even have to toggle anything specific.
As soon as I touch any graphics setting it's suddenly fixed. Even without applying the change.
So I'm not sure it's because of Lighting 2.0.

What I'm curious about whether it's specific to certain graphic cards or not.
I had the same issue with 2 different AMD cards.

I see the same thing using a Nvidia 1060 card, so it is probably not card specific. Never had the problem before this year but it is all over on ground maps lately (Nimbus is worse than Risa so far, and it is almost always 'outdoor' map locations that have the problem.

Not sure if this is related, but with the new lighting, it's extremely hard to almost impossible to see the sand you need to pick up for the sand castles because the foreground sand is so bright it practically washes out the gold interaction aura. Same thing for the spinning graphics of the Artifact Locator; you can barely see the scanning graphics because the sand is so bright.

Had this today, didn't think I would ever find some dry sand because I couldn't see where the clicky was located.

Same thing with the Artifact scanner. Wish they would just switch that back to the older version that was easy to see with it being bright red.

This is also an issue on consoles. I play on xbox too and there's no adjusting the lighting at all.

The same problem has existed on Nimbus for some time now, going into graphics and changing something and then back again fixes it as mentioned above, this affects both my nVidia and AMD based systems, but I don't see it with my Intel based Arc card as I have anisotropic filtering and ambient occlusion turned off which seems to be related.

As everyone has stated, same problem that Nimbus gets hit with, same one that the Winter Event has and now Risa. Haven't noticed it happening on every character I have yet, but it is happening randomly when I'm playing. Swapping to lighting 2.0 off then back on is a temp fix that doesn't last. I'm not sure they ever will be able to fix the lighting issues.

Doesn't look like it is entirely lighting. More like textures are just loading in at distance as well.

It also seems to affect were surfaces join each other like in this screen

Which may explain why the usual work around of toggling 2.0 on and off.

I've been experiencing this glitch myself on Risa now. (Just returned to STO after having been away for a few years, so can't say how old/new it may be.) It's very intermittent and inconsistent. Just leaving the area and returning a bit later can fix it in that area, like a texture is just not loading and later does. I don't know -- it's odd. Overall effect is that the ground (notably the sand) looks darker than it should in a large, square (rectangular?) bounded area. Pic included for reference.xp036b6i2qiz.png
    Live long, and prosper.
