I do remember that livestream long ago about nights on Risa.
I don't remember them promising anything but I remember speculation about maybe trying every other instance being day or night.
It's a shame because Risa looks good at night & some of the accolades would be easier to recognize to achieve with night time but I figure they have bigger fish to fry.
I'm going to like this year's Hysperian ship though it'll probably be the closest I ever can get to a KDF Raptor with a Battlecloak I just wish it could share the Birok skin.
The ship is not "broken", it is just designed to fill a role that many STO players don't seem to understand and apparently don't care to try to understand.
When people can just sit in one spot, toggle on its flail-the-tentacles bubble of death, and pretty much that's it for the entire duration of a team event and make an above-average contribution in the process, yeah that's broken imo.
For reference, queuing for the Swarm in last event, I could pretty much just not pay attention to anything whenever there were multiple squid ships because they'd just park themselves between two lanes, flip on their iwin button, and things just died in mere seconds.
Sorry if I seem ranty/salty, but it seems like, even though I've done nearly all of the events in this game to date, it seems like the few times I've taken breaks and turned my back, something horribly busted ends up as the prize. First it was the crystal barrier kit module, then it was the squid ship. It's really frustrating.

What they said they'd consider is what they did this year, change the lighting per event rather than having it fixed forever. The issue, such as it is, though is that they haven't done night yet (just bounced from noon to evening then back to noon). Add it to the list of things they could of done for this festival (renfair theme at night would have worked well IMO.)

From what I saw, a lot of the people who flew Cnidarians in Swarm were doing so actively, not just getting into position, activating the console, and going afk. Just because they don't move and do not fire their conventional weapons doesn't mean they are not doing anything, though you might have been too busy (or not paying attention as you mentioned) to notice them using other console clickies and the few boff powers that work while in the bastion mode. And the times I ran a jellyfish in Swarm I was quite busy, not afk either.
In Swarm the enemy is mainly frigates and destroyers with an occasional capital ship in the mix, so they do get zapped rather quickly compared to a more balanced mix, but if the offensive fire of the field was reduced any the mode (and therefore the ship) would become absolutely useless because as it is it can barely hold aggro even with as many aggro enhancers as possible running. Any less damage and the enemy would ignore the Cnidarian completely and go for the other ships which would leave the jellyfish with nothing to do.
Trying to tank or heal in STO is significantly more frustrating than any kind of DPS play because of the way the game system is set up for the kind of units found in superhero games, the Cnidarian seems to be an experiment in trying to fix that tank/support role problem without radically changing the underlying system.
Most players won't notice/won't care. The question then from the Kael's point of view (worth considering when stepping up to the podium of consumer grievance) is whether redoing that shot is worth the zero-sum opportunity cost of being able to move onto other tasks. That time cost being: redo costume, re-run demo record, get back to that same point, and hope the other elements of the shot line up as well (which they might not in a single run, clipping being sacrificed for frame, action, and major content). This isn't insignificant time being spent. There aren't many states of mind that'll come down on redoing the shot (beyond the lie of perfectionism, fine for people with no experience or accountability on the internet but unworkable in practice in just about any field of writing/media production. Good enough to finish a task is the gold standard.) Thus the "stunning" comment is wholly theatrical.
As one of STO's leading space barbie enthusiasts, I noticed the clipping and thought nothing of it. It's a problem with the asset under non-Leeta slider settings which Cryptic hasn't noticed. The only possible tangible effect here is Kael passing it along to the art team as a bug if he noticed. We, on this side of the equation, will either not give it any attention or feed it into an existing confirmation bias. It's not a transformative point.
There's nothing about that screenshot that suggests any significant elements of chance or happenstance were involved. They found a spot with the right lighting, positioned themselves just so, and took the screenshot. At most they had to wait for effect timers to end so there'd be no visual spam. It doesn't take very long to use the clunky BOff order system to position most of your crew offscreen. I wager it'd take maybe half an hour, tops, to retake that screenshot with an outfit that didn't clip, maybe slightly longer depending on how clunky the dev tools are if they had to use tricks to get there to begin with. This is assuming access to dev tools give them no particular advantages over a normal player, such as being able to call up the tailor at any point, or immediately transitioning to the map where the shot was taken.
It's one screenshot to redo. The second one showcasing Neve's Icy Talons is fine, so it's not like they'd have to try to redo that one, which actually would require good fortune and good timing. They had to stand in one place with a sword and snap a screenshot. That's literally it. They could have backed into a corner on Qo'noS and gotten it in five minutes, or beamed down to one of those old ground patrols in 10-15. So, I repeat, stunningly careless.
But really, this has been way too many words on both our parts for a standard of work we both honestly were already primed to expect, or should have been anyway for my part. I keep forgetting that this game is so old and its userbase so jaded that nobody really cares anymore.
Something happened on Monday, where we were not able to access our Account Banks, nor were we able to make progress on our Event Dailies, or complete the Endeavors. With today's patch; we were finally able to do the above (access to Account Bank, able to progress on Event Dailies, and complete Endeavors). The downside from all of this is that we lost 3 days worth of progress. I just hope the devs take this into account, and give all those affected 3 days worth of credit, OR extend the event for 3 more days.
