Sci ships have secondary deflector, escorts have experimental weapon, why cruiser have no love?

Sci ships have secondary deflector, escorts have experimental weapon, why cruiser have no love? They deserve secondary hull slot, similar like secondary deflector with some unique ability like secondary deflector. It will be fair.

    Cruisers affect all within a 5km radius, subsystem targetting only affect the target you're firing at....so no, Cruisers are fine, especially as they have more weapons!

    Yeah cruisers always had that first weapon.

    In fact, IIRC, this is exactly why Sci ships got their secondary deflector in the first place. If I'm not mistaken, the argument went 'cruisers have their extra weapon slot, escorts can carry cannons' etc.

    Besides, cruisers have one more very important benefit: their beauty.

    There's just something about the way an Oddy or Sovereign move that already makes them worth flying. Who cares about secondary deflectors or experimental weapon slots when your every movement tells the ships that have those things this:

    Technically cruiser commands give allies within a 5Km radius a boost, but during a TFO few allies stay within 5 Km of any cruiser and the commands are rendered pretty forgettable.
    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    The two more weapons slots that cruisers get over sci ships goes a long way to balance the two. The exception is the science spearheads with their seven weapon slots, and there are only something like two or three in the game and they are all premium box ships.

    Don't they also loose the use of their secondary deflector in order to use that 7th weapon slot.

    No, spearheads have seven weapon slots and a secondary deflector all the time, it is multimode science destroyers like the Luna that have the either/or setup.

    No, spearheads have seven weapon slots and a secondary deflector all the time, it is multimode science destroyers like the Luna that have the either/or setup.

    There's too many variants to keep track of, I remembered one style of science ship was a scienceship/escort combo, I just couldn't remember what it was.
